You may also want to search through your email history from back then (assuming you haven't deleted it all).

It's quite possible that you were mining with a mining pool, in which case the pool may still be holding on to your bitcoins for you. In that case, all you'd need to do would be to figure out what your userID and/or password are for the pool. If you can find/remember the pool name, they might even be able to look up your usereID for you and allow you to reset your password.

Some of the more popular mining pools back in 2011 were:

Slush Pool (the first mining pool, introduced in late 2010 as Bitcoin Pooled Mining Server)
BitFury (also known as pool.io)
BitMinter
Eligius (also known as Luke-Jr's pool)
btcmp (also known as "bitcoin minepool" or, occasionally, as "stratum")

Do any of those sound familiar to you?

There may be a few others, but those are the ones that come to mind for me.

If you have never done deep formatting, or slow formatting, then there may be a small chance to recover deleted data from hdd, but it needs to scan hdd on special software, i have this, I can explain this to you but in private because the pro software is not free

you should know, if you only "deleted" then the files are not actually deleted from the hdd, but just made invisible

Hi that sad, but maybe you can use this program to find the btc.
Go to cleverfiles.com, download and install program and see if you can find bitcoins. Maybe you could make us rich.

Of corse, if you find "wallet.dat" or "privkey" , NO SHARE IT !!! contain all your coins Wink

Hi there...

Just got re-involved in Crypto in the last year or so. I seem to remember downloading a mac based (might have been on parellels/windows) mining program in the early 201x's...and I remember thinking "sheesh, this isn't worth my time". But I can't remember the details of how much I mined...thinking that it may have been a small number of coins at VERY low prices at the time...so I gave up. Now I'm wondering if somewhere on my mac I have coins (or even fractions of them) that are worth a lot more obviously. Quesitons:

does having a mac based miner back then sound familiar to anyone?

how might I find the keys/coins? Might there be a program I have to reinstal or something?
