Topic: I think my switched PDU just killed two PSU's on a rig (Read 163 times)
Im using the same PDU and when I plugged them in for the first time, everything just blinked for a bit. After about 5 minutes and powering off, all seemed fine.
I thought for sure I fried something, because I thought both psu's needed to be started up at the same time. At some point I thought I read that it posed a threat to your board, if they were not powered on at the same time.
FYI, That splitter was designed to power on the two PSU at the same time. The board will signal the power on signal.Notice that there are only two wires connected in the other 24pin port, those are (green) PSON and (Black) Neutral wires if color coded.
If happened that the splitter was broken and the other PSU doesn't turn on, the MOBO will not be at risk, it will not POST and if you have a display (onboard or gpu connected to the turned on PSU), it would just stuck in the bios logo.
I'm not sure how this has happened, but both PSU's are working again ... Just not together with the splitter. I've tested them individually and both are working fine now. I ordered some other splitters, so hopefully that's all I have to replace. I'm using the same psu splitter in three other 6gpu rigs, but I really don't want to take another rig down just to test it.

Yeah the board is fine with another psu.
i not sure about this type of pdu, but i never had this problem even if i didn turn on both psu at the same time, im using paper clip instead of add 2 psu for dual psu

I think I screwed up big time. I bought a switched PDU, so I could restart miners from work, when they hang on occassion. I'm using two psu's per miner with a dual psu adapter to connect them to the board like the one below ...

I went to test it out by shutting down two of the outlets on the pdu that one of the miners was connected to. When I went to turn both of those pdu outlets back on, nothing came on. I took that miner off of the switched pdu and plugged it in elsewhere. Still nothing. So I swapped the board ... Still won't power on.
Is it possible that both pdu outlets didn't power back on at the exact same time and that's what caused this?

I took that miner off of the switched pdu and plugged it in elsewhere. Still nothing. So I swapped the board ... Still won't power on.

Did u try with another psu or power cable?
I'm thinking that maybe I should be using something like this to plug two PSU's into one PDU outlet .... Thoughts?
