Always check and remember with your destination address because I remember the last address from my wallet, when I draw just checking last number of my address is true or not, I have made mistake with sending coin to their contract address but I keep my way like remember last number with my address to protect not make the same mistake.

Sad for you, just forget this one and be careful the next time, if you already sent it to the contract then your funds are now gone as well as if you have sent it to the wrong address, always double-check before you confirm the transactions. I always do double-checking whenever I will confirm the transaction, check the first 4 characters and last 4 characters of the address, it will assure you that you have copied the right address.
I always use this method to verify before transferring my funds somewhere, check the first and last few characters to see if they match. And for a larger amount I will split it up, I'm going to do a little advance transfer so I can verify that I've done the right thing and the right wallet to move to. After the first transaction is successful I will continue to do the rest.

sorry if i say its very hard to get your money back.
did you choose the same network before you sent money from sender's wallet to recipient's wallet?
experience :
- the recipient's wallet uses the bep20 network
- the sender's wallet uses the bep20 network
if you send using a different network then the money you send will fail and be lost.
it's best to check before you send your money to another wallet.

I've experienced almost the same thing, only that time I sent a Matic polygon to Matic erc 20. One whole day I was waiting for Matic to enter my exchange wallet. but it doesn't come in either. I finally contacted the help center to ask for my Matic to be returned to my personal wallet. after passing several requirements finally my Matic was returned to my account

but I ask help to their team and they return my coin back to my wallet, but I don't know with USDT and I think that stable coin and we don't know they have team or not.
You mean the team has control over the smart contract or the address? It is quite dangerous if the team can simply execute a call to move tokens from one address to another. Even if OP can contact Tether, I doubt they'll help for such a "small" amount of money.

I just looked into the source code for the BUSD-T smart contract that was submitted for verification at Bscscan:
https://bscscan.com/address/0x55d398326f99059ff775485246999027b3197955#code

This smart contract is quite generic just like other similar stablecoins. I also doubt the team is technically capable to execute a call to move arbitrary tokens between addresses.

Due to negligence, I transferred my funds to the tether (usdt) contract. Can I get my money back? Has anyone had a similar situation as me?

@OP, I am sorry for you loss. 385 BSC-USD is a significant amount of money. Next time, do not be sloppy. And welcome to the cryptocurrency world with irreversible transactions.

This is really unfortunate, I have never sent my money by mistake to the contract address I have sent before to the wrong currency address but fortunately the wallet was smart and did not send and returned an error but this case never happened to me before, I think unfortunately you lost your money and it is difficult to get it back .
These errors happen a lot when converting, so double check and confirm the address before sending.

unfortunately there is nothing to do once sent to a smart contract that you do not control they will remain there forever you must always carefully check the address to which you send crypto often transactions are irreversible

Who owns the address can return it if they want but you can't do anything once you have done it because cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible
OP sent USDT from his wallet to USDT smart contract address. No one owns the smart contract address. So there is no chance of sent back his coins. Better forget it and be careful in future.

Who owns the address can return it if they want but you can't do anything once you have done it because cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible on most occasions but if an exchange made such mistake and send funds to their other address may have chances to recover apart from that just move on.

You can't get back your money as it's already sent to the contract which is unable to be recovered even when you're telling the contract owner to recover it. I have seen so many cases like this and they were unable to recover their money. you can do nothing about that. that's why you must be careful before try to send anything. When tokens already delivered to the received's address and that's irreversible.
I have ever made the same mistake like you and then i just forget it. Try to always the double check use notepad or something else to make sure if you have copied the right address

Just use that experience as a lesson.

I've read exchanges that have customers that have sent it to the wrong protocol, they didn't help but just kept the warning and don't want to intervene with the affected customers.

So if the transaction is being sent to an exchange or not, it's all gone.

I've been in a situation like this, unfortunately there is no other way when you have sent the coins/tokens you have to the wrong address.
this can only be a lesson so that before making a transaction, make sure correctly that the address you are going to is correct. if it's like this, no one can help you.

Your money has been permanently sitting on the contract's address and there's no way to get back your money. You must try to did the double check before try to send something.

Can I get my money back? Has anyone had a similar situation as me?
You can't get it back and im sorry for your lose. Keep in your mind to always check it first. The contract address would be similar like burn address and it will be impossible to recover your money. it has gone forever

There is no way of how you can return your money. You were warned to be very careful all the time while working on the crypto market. Personally I am very afraid of losing my money by sending to a network or platform that doesn't support this token or for a wrong address that is why I do everything very carefully and slowly. You had better check all addresses, fees and networks at least twice.

As already stated by mk4, no one has control over the tokens sent to a smart contract address and they are lost forever.

I'm feeling so sad. I took the contract of usdt and pasted it into the metamask to show the balance.  I copied the recipient's wallet address first, then copied the usdt contract.  and I pasted it in the recipient address.  There are no words to describe how I feel right now Sad
I can only imagine how you feel. I haven't been there and hope I don't too. The much, "you can't get it back'', 'it's lost forever', 'forget it' and replies of that nature coins up isn't much of the help you wanted but, the one you've got in this case and the sad truth with cryptos. One huge mistake and your most likely to sock it up and avoid making such mistakes again in the future. That's just what your left with now and at times, it doesn't end with the recipients address you copy as, a bugged device could always replace addreesee so, youve got a verifying job to do before transferring coins. Sock up this one and be careful in future transactions.

I am sorry to hear that and unfortunately there is nothing you can do to recover the lost money. Always double check all transaction information before clicking the send button.

It is almost the same as exchanging from usdt to another usdt in different network much like binance and it's smart chain.
No, it's not the same. When you mistakenly send tokens from erc20 to bep20 or vice versa, there is a chance to recover them if you own the private key for the receiving address (or the owner is willing to cooperate).

I think the fee was acceptable unless that's not what's on their terms and conditions but your case is different than the main post. Sending the token to their contract address is as good as burned.

At that time, I had no other choice. After all, losing a portion was better than losing everything Smiley

I made a similar mistake by sending ETH to an ERC20 token address on Shitbtc last time, and it was worth like $400

Thankfully the customer support could recover the funds but man, the fee was like more than 10%.

the money are gone when u transferred to contract, but like the other user says that ur tx id is not found.

Why did you even check the balance of USDT's contract address in your metamask? If you got the contract address from Etherscan, the balance is already there.

Anyway, this is another costly mistake. Well, the lesson is not that expensive, but a few hundred dollars is already a significant amount. I just hope it is not totally wasted and from now on you will check your transaction multiple times before confirming it.

Nothing can be done now. Forget it and next time onwards do not be careless, as those are actually money that you were transferring. After seeing ox most of us will think of it as an Ethereum transaction, that is common. It is just we tend to forget the copied version of Ethereum known as the Binance smart chain. Grin

It is almost the same as exchanging from usdt to another usdt in different network much like binance and it's smart chain. Well, this should be a lesson learned. Just be careful next time and triple check.

Whoops. Saw the 0x and automatically assumed it was an Ethereum tx.
Some may assume that it's ethereum just like you since bsc smart chain and other network like polygon have 0x at the start.

you have two different address, one manged by private key and Smart contract address (no private key).

If the contract developer has added a function that enables it to re-send all the money that you sent, you may restore your money, but (AFAIK) this condition/function is not available in USDT smart contract , which means you have lost your money forever.

Welp, nothing really you can do right now can you, besides realizing that you can't be too careless when moving money in cryptocurrencies. Look at the bright side: that's a good amount of money, but probably not super life changing. Just make sure you don't make the same clumsy mistake. Best of luck.

But yea, if you actually sent it to the contract, as far as I know your funds are gone. Unless you can actually Tether (the business).
