I've wanted to buy btc to trade for almost a month now but due to indecision of what exchange to pick I have waited. I want to use localbitcoins but do you need to deposit in person to their specific bank or can you transfer from your bank to their account? (my bad to the mod, i may be in the wrong section)

Dont use MtGox they dont take USD anymore, plus theyre bad at handling transaction that never show up in the blockchain, you can search the forums as many people are complaining about their sluggush service.

Localbitcoins is a good site.It runs smoothly and it's fast.A good option I suppose.

Yes, but I dont think OP has 780 dollars laying around and just wants to buy a considerable amount.

Some sellers allow PayPal. If you pay via credit card via PayPal you have two methods of reversing transactions should something go wrong with the transaction though you probably won't have any problems on Local Bitcoins if you go with someone reputable unless their account was hacked. Bank cash deposits, I've been told, are completely irreversible (at least here in Canada) so it is probably not the method of payment you would want to use if dealing with a zero feedback member.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I just wasn't sure because there are no bigger banks around me(chase, wells fargo, B of A, etc) and I wasn't sure if you could just wire transfer to their specific account or how long the transfer would take.

local bitcoins is great, you may end up paying a premium for your bitcoins though.

Plenty of sellers to chose from though.

Local bitcoins have several options. You can chose Western Union or Wire Transfer. They are the safest. Chose only well-reputed sellers.
