Go into the power settings too to make sure the system doesnt mess with the graphics cards when it idles. Also, you should really use Debian Linux or something if you plan on going with a headless system. SSH isnt that hard once you get used to it.

Install logmein.com and connect to the PC when needed, it's a free software, I have my rig in garage with no monitor, i had to connect it once so i can setup wifi and logmein, once it's setup that all it needs.

not sure if already answered but I use the command prompt ('cmd' in the start menu) and type 'control userpasswords2' (I think).  There's an option to disable the login screen there.

One bitcoin to rule them all!
There is a way to bypass the login screen and i can put a shortcut to cgminer in the windows startup folder to make cgminer start on boot. I can check my pool from my main computer to verify that its hashing so i can eliminate my monitor all together. Ive tried turning off the monitor while hashing it dies after 1 or 2 hours. How can i change windows 7 to not require a monitor be present and continue to run the GPU?

To make windows startup without a startup screen, remove PW for default user.

Ive let it run to 10000 accepted hashes with a 7970 without going dead. i turn the monitor off and check it 8 hours later and its showing DEAD. Something changes with Windows 7 when you turn a monitor off.

I pulled pin #16 out of my DVI plug to fool Windows. Its been off for 6 hours now and still hashing.

Stop using branwallets
Check this out:

But, if you really want a headless machine with remote monitoring and administration and you mainly use this computer for mining it sounds like a good time to start using linux.

So why does my GPU show DEAD in cgminer if my monitor is off for more than a couple hours?

Go under Power Options and change PCI Express - Link State Power Management setting to off.

^This or you are OCing too high. Ive had this with some 7950s. Would run for hours then DEAD. solution clock down a little.
