@robelneo, one such measure would prevent people from creating profiles just to scam someone, because even though 1 merit might be easy to get (not for anyone), it would still take some time and effort to get to Jr. Member. After all, this is a forum for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, not a forum where various things that have nothing to do with cryptocurrencies are sold - prove that you are worthy and only then will you get the opportunity to offer your services.

I think that many warnings are simply not something that most people pay attention to, and some simply do not understand them due to their poor knowledge of the English language. However, if people applied a little logic from real life, they would prevent a lot of bad situations for themselves - if you are not going to give a complete stranger on the street $50 because he promised you something, is there any logic in doing it online?

theymos should allow mods/admins to ban scammers.

That would not solve the problem, because the scammer would simply create a new profile that would also have no red feedbacks or active flags. If we want to ensure that Newbie profiles have the possibility to do such things at all, they should be banned from accessing Goods until they reach at least Jr. Member rank. It wouldn't be a newbie prison or anything, but it would prevent anyone from coming to this forum with only bad intentions.

This is a good idea but junior rank can still be considered newbie they only need one merit and activity time to rank up from newbie to junior, there's already a pinned thread in the goods section, and it's very visible for everyone to see, but unfortunately, they prefer to ignore the warning and proceed to deal with newbie account.

That user have 1 post . In the forum even you more than him.
Also he deleted his post why would you trust a newbie ?

I don't want to be victim-blaming but where do you get the idea that it's ok to transact with newbies here, you are trading to a stranger that will just go off and he'll have nothing to lose, this is not the first I read members transacting with newbies and getting scammed I wonder when this will end that people should research or ask first before trading, even if it's a small or big amount it still disgusting to see newbies can scam here in Bitcointalk.

So far 3 days past and he never replied to me anymore and keep bumping his thread! Please help!

Thank you very much!
judging by what SFR10 have shared, I don't think you'll get your money back. also, it seems like the scammer has been doing this for a while now(based on his banned alt account). I hope this incident will be a lesson for you to be more cautious when making a transaction with someone online.

Also he deleted his post why would you trust a newbie ?
a moderator deleted that thread. since thread creators cannot delete their own thread even if they made it a self-moderated thread.

The "topic starter" is a newbie with zero trading history and the thread is self-moderated with more than 11 replies deleted (the last time I checked). What did you want more to realize that something is not right here!!
I'm not blaming you, it's too late anyway.
Unfortunately, your money is gone and I doubt any one here can help you get it back.

theymos should allow mods/admins to ban scammers.

Too late, nobody can help you recover those funds here. Next time when making deals please try to use escrow as some members have already suggested. Do not just trust internet strangers because most are scammers and it's very unlikely you trace them since you used crypto as a means of payment

First of all, sorry to hear that you got scammed but you should know that trading with a newbie account with no trading history is very risky but at least you didn't get scammed for too big of amount. Also, can you please use this report format and present as much evidence as possible, like screenshots of your conversation so we can act on it and tag him (and support your flag if you create one).

According to ninjastic.space that user wrote 82 posts so he had much more prior to OP dealing business with him and now is probably trying to cover his tracks. I am just not sure why he is doing that since he can easily ditch that newbie account and create new one.

I am not able to post anything in his thread.
It's locked and even if it weren't, LimboAngel would've deleted your comment [you can find the following stats under the subject field of the other thread: (12 posts by 11+ users deleted.)]...

  • You can see all of the deleted posts from "here [click "scraped" button]".

-  email access<[email protected]>
It appears that you were dealing with a ban evader [proof (scroll down)]: Alt of UnrealED [a nuked user]

Removing the last three alphanumeric characters isn't enough for censoring the address in question [all we need, is its "firstbits"]!

Please help!
Unfortunately, we can only do the following things:

  • Leave a negative rating.
  • Support your flag [if you create one].
  • Report him/her!

Update:

Tagged and reported!
- Don't forget to lock your other thread (the lock button is in the bottom left corner of that page)!

Recently i was scammed by this topicstarter https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/selling-torrent-trackers-invitations-btn-hdbits-ptp-thevault-empornium-5409383 buying an invite for some service. I am not able to post anything in his thread.
Very quickly you give money to a beginner that you don't know in detail, does he really have an invite to cinemageddon.net.
• Did you ever ask @LimboAngel to show him the cinemageddon.net invite, sebum sent him money.
• Why don't you use a third party/Escrow in dealing with buying and selling invitations/items.
• You don't think twice, immediately sending 60 EUR sucks, you are not careful in trading.

Try PM @LimboAngel, and ask for the invitation, because you have sent money for him, you know in this forum fraud is not moderated, aka users who trade buy/sell must be careful and use Escrow for security.

If, you have sent a PM, he doesn't respond to you, create a flag for @LimboAngel, DT members here will tag that user and support your flag.
