Alternatively to what ChuckBuck said, you can try contacting the small-mid sized blogs/news sites and ask them for a guest post. It's likely that some of the small blogs will proudly allow someone to write one or a few posts for them for free. They get content, you get to get backlinks(for SEO) for your blog. It's a win-win.
