Scrolling down through the altcoin section nowadays, is just depressing.

You know the solution: avoid this section. It was always meant to be some people trying to get rich quickly by changing a few lines of code and then advertising relentlessly.

I have to respectfully disagree. Many, many people here have lost their money betting on some random scamcoin over he years. Some scam coins even used to look slightly "legit", like XC. It's sometimes hard to tell a scamcoin from a non scamcoin, and that's where these "Proof Of", "Scam", etc threads come in, to warn newcommers of the dangers of a particular coin, though I admit some of these threads are made for blatan manipulation(And do not actually tell the truth)

For me, what makes a scamcoin different from a "legit" coin, is

1) Scamcoins usually have very small developer teams(So that most of the $ gained from the scam goes to 1 person)
2) Scamcoins usually have crappy names, such as Visacoin, Bankcoin, Stackcoin, etc
3) Scamcoins usually have some sort of borderline scam technique, such as a premine or instamine

Here's a good article on how to spot a scamcoin. http://cryptolife.net/the-anatomy-of-a-scamcoin-7-things-to-know-before-investing-in-an-altcoin/

+1 Exposing scams in any field of endeavour is a noble cause.

There is no point in it though if you can't tell who's lying. Someone calling a project a scam may just work on a competing project or simply be wrong about it. It would be better to post such accusations in the thread and get a discussion going there than opening a thread about it. Not to mention many of those threads are started by completely new accounts which makes them even more fishy and worthless.

Scrolling down through the altcoin section nowadays, is just depressing. The community in the altcoin section has just lost all sense of communication. All you see is 'SCAM' or 'PROOF OF....' not to mention all of the coins that come out with absolutely no purpose other than the "devs" making money and abandoning.

It has gotten so bad that malicious people will do anything to cyber-bully, harm, DOX or other means of being utterly rude and disrespectful.

Folks, seriously. If you don't like a coin, and you don't agree with it. Don't visit the threads or pay any attention to it. Stop making threads about how crappy one coin is over another, and how this coin is a scam and that coin is a P&D. These people that make 'scam' coins, are sticking out like sore thumbs, and anyone should be able to pick out the good, from the bad. Just avoid the coin, and focus your energy into a coin you agree with and enjoy.

Really, just sit down, read every bit of this, and actually let the words sink in. It is a wonderful philosophy, and I live by it everyday on the web.

Sigh. Sad
