Hi,

A Discord bot, MEE6, told me that I won some BTC from a "giveaway" and that the rules and conditions are on this forum but when I clicked the url, it said that "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

Was it a scam or is it real??
Always remember there is no such giveaway that will give money that easily without doing anything unless , you should think about it first ,is it legit or not, ask sone people about it never take it instantly without any research.

Dont fall in this kind of giveaways cause its a clear scam, and if you accept it they  will ask you for a payment in order to get your prize.

Yeah, that is classic scam nowadays, always the same thing, you "win" something, but in order to withdraw from some site, you need to add a a bit of BTC.

You can put the link to the topic in a question in the Meta section and Mods will answer why the deletion of that topic?
Topics are rarely deleted by mistake so they may be a phishing or spam link.
In all cases, no one gives you free money"Giveaway," so beware of gifts.

No doubts that it was fake giveaway. Fact that thread on Bitcointalk has been deleted is one big red flagd about this giveaway. I'm not sure how these kind of "giveaways" works exactly because I haven't faced it. But it's most likely that some smart bastards are just trying to scam you or even steal money from in some way. Be careful.
P.S. If it's not secret, can you tell us how much did you won?

It's always good to think before someone act...
If a stranger comes to me at the street to tell me that I have won a huge amount of money, I just need to follow him to somewhere, I would run away screaming like hell Smiley

The above mentioned is classic spam, don't fall for that...
Crypto world is really similar to the real world, the same rules apply for the crypto world in connection with security, so if you don't trust someone, and something is strange and suspicious, you won't find something better in the end just because you are in the crypto world... Scammers utilize that people are not used to be cautious in the crypto world, because it's not the common sense yet to be cautious here, because you don't hear such stories about crypto scams in the local pub or at work...

Sounds like a discord scam thing. I have heard that users are receiving messages that state that they have won free coins. They are then given a promo code to use it in a certain website. After claiming those coins, they tell you to deposit a certain amount of money in order to withdraw your free coins lol. Classic scam. Just avoid it (no ones going to give you free coins for no reason) and welcome to the forum!

That was just a scam attempt. Someone from this forum realized it soon and deleted the thread as it's posted on this forum. If it were a independently hosted website people like you and others could have been mislead to share your private infos, private keys or compromise the safety of your device. So, you should be cautious specially when someone is providing you a large amount without doing anything.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain

There are some Ann threads that relate to the use of MEE6 Discord type bots such as:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-traw-network-xtraw-mn-altmarketscc-3105194 (oldish), although it is also related to recent scam accusations ( mercatox.org Giveaway scam and MEE6 Discord bot SCAM ALERT Phishing exchanges !!).

In your case, most likely the thread you were supposed to reach was deleted, thus the message. If you can retrieve it’s URL, post it here on this thread and we can try to see into it further.

"The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."
You see this when a mod delete a post or move it to the trashcan. So the possibility is - that topic ended up with one of these.
