Понятно. На случай, когда нужно пропахать огород, разумнее держать три запасных лопаты в подвале, чем в случае поломки одной вызывать бульдозер, я щетаю. Проблему распределенности можно решать хоть вручную в данном случае. Помнится в начале своего существования ноды Bitcoin публиковались в специальной теме и насчитывали порядка десятка единиц, Сатоши еще вроде биткоины за это раздавал

Я пока не могу представить, чего такого страшного должно случится, чтоб подстраховкой был аж целый айтупи.

PS Кстати для обеспечения отказоустойчивости больше подходит Freenet.

I2P - развитая оверлейная сеть. Bitcoin - неразвитая сеть с поиском узлов через IRC.
В этом и заключается вся суть. В прошлом году я толкал идею янкам, что хорошо бы
хотя бы искать узлы через I2P IRC сервис. Но это далеко не предел интеграции с I2P.

Другой вопрос, действительно ли нужно развивать Bitcoin в этом направлении. Может,
тут и не требуется что-то продвинутое (вроде DHT и т.п.), это же платежная система.

Для начала неплохо бы выяснить, что подразумевается под интеграцией, как это в общих чертах сделать и на кой оно вообще нужно. Или это все тоже неизвестно?

Да пи..ц! Но я чего-то никак не врублюсь в цель вот этого всего. Практически полезной информации я по ссылкам не увидел. Какие-то отдаленные от реальности теоретические наработки  Я правда смотрел наискосок, может гениальную суть упустил из-за этого.

Поражаюсь усидчивости ArsenShnurkov. Столько материала перекопать...

Все плохо:
1) Никто не продвинулся дальше web-сайтов, работа самой сети bitcoin поверх I2P не налажена
2) Гевин Андерсен не допиливает клиент в сторону I2P/TOR
3) У российских программистов отсутствует понимание того, как работает сетевая часть Bitcoin и как работать с I2P вообще.

5. Недостатки i2p

TylerJordan: I2P is brilliant in it's security as it's a seperate network (Namecoin's weakpoint).
Namecoin is brilliant as it gives incentive for people to run servers
to resolve addresses (I2P's weakpoint).

If this was rolled into a nice linux distro with XAMPP and put onto little portable ssd's then:
a. people could do exchanges with no traceback to a physical address by default
b. currency exchanges and traders could easily go underground to prevent
   fascist governments from attacking them
c. one network for everything focuses development.
d. developers get in on the ground floor and can earn quite
    a bit of early loot (like satoshi did!).
If there're any good hackers out there with free time - this might be a great project.


- Tor/I2P hidden services are worse than non-anonymized centralized services for DoS-resistance.

- i2p has an issue distributing eepsite keys in some trusted manner.

It's similar to triangulation.  The hunter sets up an number of intermediary nodes that
they can modify to track packets, then repeatedly make circuts to the target.  
Since they know the starting content of packets, they can identify their own packets as they cross their nodes,
even encrypted, by timing and packet size.  Then they note which node the packets are going too next.  
The idea is to identify the path from different directions, narrowing down the geographical location
of the target by progressively locating the nodes in the circuts.
it only requires that you recreate the circuts repeatedly to identify as many of the nodes on the network
as is necessary to narrow down the possible locations of the target.  Most hidden services use
a few highly trusted nodes in order to defend against this attack, as victory is defined as establishing
a circut with an owned node in direct contact with the target.  Still it can be done by first identifying
those trusted nodes, and then literally breaking into those nodes to directly locate the target.
It's not an easy attack, but the CIA certainly has the resources to do it.
I doubt that the FBI would do it, for no other reason that such an attack wouldn't likely
lead to untainted evidence for a trial. But the CIA's goals don't usually involve a prosecution.

Actually, gavinandresen raised a very good point here.
For example, when browsing over TOR, a malicious exit node could indeed replace bitcoin addresses very easily.
Contrary to what you said, SSL would fix the issues raised
DNSSEC is yet another piece of junk. That probably would never come to be nothing but a project.
Issues of practical life, negociating crypt algorithms reduces
performance and DNS is a really heavy duty service.
