I also do not think the ICO hosting or consulting service is necessary, I can see some ICO project will invite some famous people to join them as advisors such as Vitalik.
I think the main purpose for the ICO hosting is to have transparency and integrity of the ICO because they are the one who should filter for the legitimacy of the project, they should know well the team composition if it is real, they can directly communicate with the ICO team manager therefore they always have a big responsibility for the security of the investors and for the bounty hunters.
Security of investors and bounty hunters? I dont think so that they would able to handle things out when non good things happen. I dont even care about those reputable hosting or consulting companies because anytime they can really be paid up which would cause that their suggestions or words would be used up. Just like on ICO rating sites they do somehow the same purpose but i dont think this thing would be necessary.
This do only add cost or to the expense.

For those that have or are considering launching an ICO, did you use or are you considering using an ICO hosting (or consulting) company such as the Argon Group, Tokenmarket, Cryptoassets, Tokenhub, etc.?

Are there ones that people recommend in this space?  Or do you generally think that they are not useful or needed when offering a token sale?  Thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated.

I think you have a point too, because we have paid handsomely but the feedback from the people we pay just a little, not in accordance with the payment we give.

I think ico company is very big and influential role with the project that handled it. We know the monaco project which is handled in tokenmarket and polybius which is in ambisafe handle, both projects were great success. But there are also some projects that fail or do not reach the minimum goal.

Check out the client lists of https://www.vanbex.com/ and https://www.mlg[Suspicious link removed]/

Connections count and companies like these definitely have them.

EDIT: link got removed. Just google "MLG Blockchain" if you want to look at their client roster

I'm also interested to know if people have had positive experiences. Ambisafe wants $100,000 up front plus around 5%, which seems excessive.

It looks like Storj, Monaco, and Populous used TokenMarket. They say that running a token sale will cost several thousands of dollars - which sounds much more reasonable.

Any luck contacting Tokenmarket?

What?!?!  100k and 5%?   Huh

A couple to few thousand sound much more reasonable depending on the services provided.

I think it makes sense if you are challenged to find the people you need but have the resources. There is always a market for good consultants who can steer you in the right direction and allow you to avoid some pitfalls. I'm interested to know if they take a percentage of the ICO or charge upfront, etc.

I'm confused, why ICO need a hostIng or consultIng? those only increase the cost of ICO, and the cost eventually move to users.

I agree that it's not required but wanted to open the discussion to get people's thoughts on this.  Especially if someone really recommended it because they had a great experience using one or because it made the process easier.

I'm starting to see some of these companies offer token creation services too.
