Investment in cryptos is already high-risk affair compared to traditional ways. And ICO adds some more to it.
Most of the ICOs out there are selling on their dreams and plans. Many of them haven't achieved a basic prototyping or working model. They show the roadmap and based upon that people invest in it. It is highly likely that many of those ICOs won't ever take off after product launch. In those cases the price of the token would surely take deep dive making you loose your investment.

As the risk is higher, the rewards could also be higher in some cases. You get the tokens for cheap and if the product really takes off then you could have returns in multifold of your investment.

So, it is suggested you do due diligence to research about the project before investing in ICO. You can research about the team, track record of the company, their product detail and their progress till now.

And since it appears to be becoming increasingly common, avoid any ICO that asks for copies of your ID, legal documents, or any other personal information.  You don't send stuff like that to random people on the internet just because they claim they need it for KYC compliance, unless you are willing to become a victim of identity theft.

Hello, should a new person to crypto invest in ICO and in which ones to invest to make profit?

I think if you are newbie in crypto, you should not invest in ICO because it requires you have a certain amount of knowledge to analysis this ICO have a potential or not. Don't follow the crowd. They can give you more information but this can be a trick community development of this ICo. Be carefull! The best way is avoiding it before you have enough knowledge about cryptocurrency

If you are absolutely new, i would suggest to invest in an ICO. As said before, this will need much researching and knowledge. You need to understand how things work and what the market is asking for.

Statistics say that 50% of all ICO's from 2017 failed, so to my mind, this Investment is way too risky.

ICOs can give the biggest return but carry the greatest risk

The standard advice is don't put anything you cant afford to lose into any crypto, and that's even more true for ICOs!

Picking a good ICO requires a lot of research from many different sources (remember: everyone has bias!)

If you are new I would suggest looking into big/established coins first, as without the knowledge of whats already in the market, you have no basis upon which to assess what is a good ICO opportunity or not.

As you know the ICOs are great investment plans you will gain good returns when they come to the market. Meantime You should consider that there are tons of ICOs are raising every day, a risk is involved in it. If you are capable of finding a good project your investment is safe & can have a good return.

Nowadays ICOs has some certain procedures to follow & to be stuck with such as Whitelisting where you have to do your KYC process, Joining to their Telegram & Twitter Handles etc. you need to be very keen into their news of specific project as they release participating dates & times.

Generally, do a good research before investing to be a successful investor.

To find a good ICO you can refer these websites which are handled by professionals.

- OF course, you can find more good reviews of the ICOs from this forum.
