Video calls in science fiction have been around for far longer than 50 years - Dick Tracy's wrist watch is another item of SpecFic that has come to pass with everything from pocket voice translators to hover cars (work in progress) and cashless societies.

As far as identification goes, we all have fingerprints, facial recognition and our very DNA which makes us instantly recognisable so it won't matter if you agree with it or not, banks and governments will use such methods for identification.

Anything is possible in this advanced technological era, things that were only imagined 50 years back are now manifesting today, like making video calls with someone in a faraway continent, to recently having a decentralized digital currency that has no boundaries, being bitcoin.  But having said all this, I don't think that nations will consent to having a universal identity for world citizenship, for one simple reason that all of them are not united. Need I mention names of countries in this world that are sworn enemies, or power tussle to be identified as the most powerful nation on earth.

I think that countries and individuals can only exist interdependently with each other, socially and economically and still retaining their rights to sovereignty. So in essence I don't think that digital ID for world citizenship is possible, at least not in this generation.

ok ill bite at your conspiracy nonsense

ID2020 is not an active thing.
Really? Conspiracy theory?

It's been active since 2019:

https://commission.europa.eu/strategy-and-policy/priorities-2019-2024/europe-fit-digital-age/european-digital-identity_en

america wont join a social security ID system with china or europe. it wont ever be a world wide thing
Really?

https://blog.independent.org/2022/12/01/klaus-schwab-china/
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/authors/joe-biden/

get over yourself. there wont be a "one world" thing.
Really?

It already exists, it's called WEF:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjxJ1wPnkk4

think about it. 100 years ago it would have been easier to use a birth cert number for everything.
100 years ago we didn't have digital tech and cheap telecommunications, otherwise Hitler and Stalin would have achieved much more.

I scrolled/read some of the blurbs on this page, I was just wondering if you yourself have signed up to the initiative, and what your own thoughts are on providing a third party with your TAX details?

IIRC, in the USA they have a Social Security number people have to provide as well as the TAX file number.  Given each nation has a different set of parameters for their TAX file numbering systems, how different is your new I.D. number in comparison to your countries own issued TAX file number?  (and what happens if you already have multiple TAX file numbers from having worked abroad previously?

Are you a representative of this organisation, or, are you just in awe and want to pass the message on?

(Surely a PGP/GPG PubKey/Fingerprint would be an entry level method of identifying unique users?)

ok ill bite at your conspiracy nonsense

Where is the conspiracy exactly?

accenture are a consultant company. they do business efficiency stuff. problem solving. find new niche markets for businesses

Apparently their newest customer wants them to work on id2020.

ID2020 is not an active thing.

Oh really? Where is your source? If you can't provide one, then you are lying which wouldn't be a surprise.

america wont join a social security ID system with china or europe. it wont ever be a world wide thing,
get over yourself. there wont be a "one world" thing.

Microsoft believes otherwise I suppose. We will see. I hope you are right on this.

each government wont want a universal ID for everything. not only would that cause more easy fraud. but also will stop many government things. such as competitive markets and international stuff

thre is good reason why governments for hundreds of years have not used the same birth certificate number for everything.
think about it. 100 years ago it would have been easier to use a birth cert number for everything.
there is reasons they did not.
same with driving licences and passports.
there are reasons why they are not using the same references.

These are valid reasons not to join the id2020/vaccine alliance, I do agree. Hopefully they will stay valid for years.

if you spend as much time learning the reasons.. instead of seeking the conspiracy myths. you would have a better idea

Again, where is the myth? Do you deny id2020's existence? How about the supporters of id2020? Do you think they don't exist? (Microsoft, Mastercard, Rockefeller... the list goes on)

Seriously, nobody has anything to say about id2020? There are hundreds of users in this forum posting crap every day and yet everybody plays blind deaf and mute?

At least tell me this is all fake.  Grin  Don't be shy the thread is not self-moderated, it is not my style to delete the posts that I don't like.

id2020 is a conspiracy theory right? I am making things up. None of it is real. Right?

The Parliament passes ID2020 law for Germany

Quote

The Bundestag has taken a decisive step in the implementation of the ID2020 project by Microsoft, Accenture and Rockefeller Foundation by making the tax identification number the uniform citizen number for all authorities. The path to becoming a transparent citizen is thus mapped out.

The tax identification number is to become a comprehensive citizen number, which enables the authorities to access already existing personal data at another authority. This has the red-black coalition in parliament against the opposition and united resistance against all concerns from privacy advocates decided . The Federal Council still has to give its approval before the law, which many believe is unconstitutional, can come into force.

The Federal Constitutional Court has ruled in the past that it is contrary to the fundamental right to privacy if the state creates a database in which all data on a person are gathered. Because this enables a comprehensive personality profile that goes far beyond the knowledge required for the individual official application.

Before you show up and say "WEF didn't mean that by saying this" let me tell you: I know.

WEF is a great organization that only think about the well being of the people and nothing else. The nature is improved obviously when there are less people around. Less people > Better nature. The water and the air are cleaner than what it was last year. Now imagine how cleaner would the environment be if there was less, much less people around.

WEF will make the world great again! Hooray

The Need for Good Digital ID is Universal

The ability to prove who you are is a fundamental and universal human right. Because we live in a digital era, we need a trusted and reliable way to do that both in the physical world and online.

Quote
We need to get the Digital ID RIGHT

Identity is vital for political, economic, and social opportunity. But systems of identification are archaic, insecure, lack adequate privacy protection, and for over a billion people, inaccessible. Digital identity is being defined now and we need to get it right.

Since 2016, ID2020 has advocated for ethical, privacy-protecting approaches to digital ID.

For the one in seven people globally who lacks a means to prove their identity, digital ID offers access to vital social services and enables them to exercise their rights as citizens and voters and participate in the modern economy. But doing digital ID right means protecting civil liberties and putting control over personal data back where it belongs...in the hands of the individual.

Every day, we rely on a variety of forms of identification to go about our lives: our driver’s license, passport, work badge and building access cards, debit and credit cards, transit passes, and more.

But technology is evolving at a blinding pace and many of the transactions that require identification are today being conducted digitally. From e-passports to digital wallets, online banking to social media accounts, these new forms of digital ID allow us to travel, conduct business, access financial and health records, stay connected, and much more.

While the move to digital ID has had many positive effects, it has been accompanied by countless challenges and setbacks, including large-scale data breaches affecting millions of people. Most of the current tools are archaic, insecure, lack appropriate privacy protections and commoditize our data. But that’s about to change and ID2020 is leading the charge.

We are businesses, nonprofits, governments and individuals...working in collaboration to ensure that the future of digital identity is, indeed, #goodID.

This is great stuff guys. I am trying to find any information I can about this new tech but it is so overwhelming I can't put them all in one place. I will update this post over time. It is just let me tell you this much, this is the next big thing. Look at those big tech giants supporting it:

Berkeley, Hyperledger, Microsoft, Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, Mastercard... and even the Rockefeller Foundation! Isn't that the most awesomest thing you heard in your life? You may wonder though... wtf a vaccine alliance has to do with a digital ID?? Now I would tell you that you sound like a mad conspiracy theorist and you need medical help. If you are asking these stupid questions I take it that you didn't get your covid19 vaccine yet right? Microsoft is supporting this project who the fuck are you to think that It would be a project to harm people? He is a multi billionaire and you are not. Wtf do you know?

Anyway don't be a moron and sign up and get your digital handcu... err.... I mean your digital ID. Really awesome stuff.

NOW!

This is the next big thing you were waiting for. Don't fall behind!
