non-bitcoin related, i found www.bandcamp.com where artist gets 85% of a sale, they also offer lossless formats to download. just wish they would have a better search, more artists and accepted bitcoins

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

It would be nice if there was a web site where independent artists could register and people could go there to donate to them in bitcoin (or provide an api to third party sites).  For instance, I heard a song that I thought was good on grooveshark yesterday.  I'm pretty certain that this independent artist isn't being paid royalties by grooveshark.  It would be nice if there was an api grooveshark (or any third party site) could hook into to allow people to give money to the artists.  This would also make the new distribution models more legitimate (maybe we could get rid of or help reduce the pirate misnomer).

Somebody's going to post that Bitcoin Tip site, but until then I offer up you this: https://twitter.com/#!/paybitback
