If you can get funding, then no one can stop you, but it is probably not the best idea you will have this year.

that's a terrible idea!
why would i want to tell others to "buy bitcoin" not to mention spend money to tell them! they should either make their own decision and buy bitcoin if they saw this decentralized currency is what they need or they simply shouldn't get involved if they just don't understand it or want to get rich overnight.
what we want is real bitcoin adoption not silly people jumping in just because they saw something "in the sky". the same people are going to jump out at first small price fluctuation.

Not sure if I really want the price of Bitcoin to go to a million dollar. I'd rather see some kind of UBI which creates funds for everybody in the world, not just the 0.01% of people who hold Bitcoin.

Otherwise the idea is pretty nice.

Hi Everyone,

I have an idea that I want feedback on / ideas on how to make it happen.

IDEA:

The Bitcoin Community comes together to crowd fund about 10 BTC to be used to pay for Skywriters to paint "Buy Bitcoin" in 10 major cities (worldwide) all on the same day.

What day?  Think 2008, the day tears were on traders faces on the cover of the NY Times kind of day.

How?  We rent a plane from companies like;

US company:  http://www.sky-writing.com/

Australian company:  https://www.skywriting.com.au/

And pre-pay for "Buy Bitcoin" - the sky is our blackboard!!

When the time is right we have these all go up on the same day (within a 48 hour period - due to time zones).

The Goal:  to generate awareness, to create headlines, to inspire.

Cost:

Approx 0.1 BTC per plane.

10 cities, 10 Bitcoin.

500 backers donate 0.2 BTC each and we can make this happen.  Can increase or decrease number depending on how we go.

I am seeking volunteers in major cities to get a quote for a plan in your city.  I will take care of Sydney Australia.

Possible hurdles:  Some countries will outright not allow this, others will have strict guidliness on wording etc etc. So it will be a case of checking what locations are a possible.

Do you think this idea has merit?  Would you like to volunteer to get a quote for your city?

Looking forward to your reply!
