Hello everybody,
I am a political science student and I have to do a work of about thirty pages. The subject is free. I would like to choose blockchain as a subject (even bitcoin or cryptocurrencies). But I'm struggling to find a specific topic that would be feasible for academic work. Do you have any ideas for specific topics that would be relevant and achievable?
Thanking you,
blockchain does not solve every businesses database need. but what it is great at is when different divisions of a business need to agree on something.
it can do things like voting.
if can do things like ensuring different regions can ensure they have absolutely the same data as each other.
seeing as its political science. then im guessing that you want something voting related.
unlike just a 4-year election. kinda boring and stagnant of the need for live updates daily. have an idea where every political decision in a senate/parliament requires citizen approval.
we are in an era where people can weekly vote on tv show singer/idols. and so why not have citizens vote on political decisions too.
EG citizens vote on military withdrawal of armies abroad. citizens get to vote on new reforms of state education policy.
the great thing about crypto is that you can design a system in any way you like. it doesnt have to be a single chain everyone gets involved in. it can be multiple separate mini chains which each region keeps, and the master chain of just the cumulative result of each mini chain. then after the results are widely accepted. the regions can just prune off their own mini chain and just have the final result archived in the master
that way giving time to review the votes, recount of they want. and when happy. drop that unneeded data.
..
you can explain how citizens get to vote. like their 'key' being based on birth registration where by if there was any confusion a simple 'please sign a message to prove' can actually prove they are the owner of the vote.
..
you can explain how a simple 'signature'(of a message) is the vote and proof.
where it makes it easy to vote fast and widespread, making it easy to vote regularly on important government decisions.
..
you can easily fill 30 pages with not just idea's on the political system of regular voting, but also the design/shape of the data structure, and also how such citizen involved voting can change the political direction governments follow.
EG usually governments take months drafting, revision, amending, going through tiers of reviewing before even getting close to forming active policy. where as citizen involvement can just yay/nay aspects they want and dont want to see move forward.
..
imagine it like having the ability that by having al birth registrations of every citizen. you can tailor government votes where government asks just women what their view is on the 6-12-24 week abortion law is. where women get the vote that affect them without men deciding for them. and on the flip side. men get the vote on paternal responsibility of a child.
