Let love lead
Some folks at there are fond of taking their privacy for granted. Because you have started making some money in this space you will start showing off with it , posting your assets anyhow . I knew of someone that's always posting about his assist because the fella is a day trader , so he always post his assets and stuff and his trading routine sometimes, so like week back they literally got robbed, and they stole his pc and some other valuable assets.
If you cannot keep your mouth shut in this crypto space, then you should be ready to face the consequences of getting the notice of both friendly and unfriendly people in the neighborhood. In the country we live in where people that are into cryptocurrency are viewed as those that has made it in life and with the level of insecurity in the country, I don't see why any sensible person would not be very conservative with his/her success and financial capacity.

I think he was very immature at handling his little breakthrough and as well, got what he deserves. maybe this incident is what was needed to teach him some courtesy and good financial attitude which he wouldn't have learnt on his own. I believe he would act with more maturity going forward.

So one should always take their privacy seriously to avoid telling stories that touches the heart. Because me I always learn from people experience so that other won't learn with mine , grind your grinding low-key.

E make sense wella to take privacy very seriously oh, even as our government don dey attack cryptocurrencies, make person dey very careful with their personal information, so you no go turn scapegoat wey dem don dey find for sometime now.

If you dey follow people talk well well, you go discover say some of dem no believe say the loss of privacy fit bring trouble come for them in this industry, they believe that if dem no be criminals, then dem no get anything to dey hide. That one na big lie, e get many ways wey e go fit affect you and i dey happy say many people don dey sabi the truth and this topic go help more people.

Anybody wey wan survive for this life need to know how to take he or her privacy serious, hiding your information is very important most especially people that involved in cryptocurrency, as this our country dey now our government dey find people wey them go use do scapegoat and collect waiting person don suffer for many years, not even our government even our friends we don't need to trust them, hiding our information is very important because we don't know who against us.

Privacy na wetin we suppose take very seriously especially when we come to the digital space and most importantly when em relate to our bitcoin involvement. You know say people get the kind eye wey them dey take view anybody wey dey into bitcoin like this as say the person don make am for life, so besides all these important tips on how we go take keep our bitcoin safe, we need also to keep ourselves safe with some few street behavioural modification like

  • Being conservative of our bitcoin holdings
  • Avoiding the use of public wifis when accessing our wallets
  • Not initiating crypto transactions in front of  our friends unless trusted ones(These days we no even know who to trust again)
  • Seperate your funds into different wallets and Limit your access to your savings wallet, If possible store them in a device wey you no dey always carry around
  • Verify the authenticity of any project down to the supposed issuing company through its Hr to know of its originality
  • Never connect our main wallet to any crypto activity since funds can be stolen over connected wallets

Yo, respect for sharing all these insights, man! Your story hits hard, especially with that KYC scam—you’d think verification equals trust, but nah, sometimes it’s just bait. It's true; once they get a hold of that personal data, it's game over. If we really wanna keep our identities tight, maybe look into encrypted drives like the iStorage diskAshur PRO³ at https://www.datawaysecurity.com/encrypted-ssds-hdds/135-istorage-diskashur-pro3.html? It’s one thing to protect online, but having offline secure storage just adds that next layer. Privacy ain’t no joke these days, for real. Stay safe!

  • why Satoshi the Bitcoin creator go just dey concerned about privacy and Identity, so tey he con successful remain pseudonymous and anonymous even for this information and technology era.
  • why e be say almost everybody dey against KYC wey me I see as means to take fight cyber crime. E mean say everybody for this forum na criminal?
Na true you talk, because if e no get any risk wey go de involved satoshi himself no go too de concerned about privacy but with the way him de hide so e mean say exposing your identity naa very risky something. E get plenty things wey don enter my mind so about this privacy something and me sef been de like OP, i been de reason am say how person wan take use my identity and wetin him wan use am do until i read something about privacy one time and the dangers of revealing personal information online, na that time i con know say e de risky to reveal personal information online.

One of the main purpose wey dem invent bitcoin na to give us financial freedom and to carry out online transactions while being anonymous and the introduction of kyc don spoil everything, exchanges that request for Kyc de try reduce the rate of scam on their platform and with or without kyc scam can never be stopped fully. Me sef de against kyc and i no like the idea of kyc at all

How to hide your identity when you dey use Bitcoin:
  • Try make you no dey repeat bitcoin address: If you no do am your identity go dey leaked through your address. Ensure say you generate new address for every transaction as e  dey recommended by Satoshi for Bitcoin
    whitepaper
  • Use a VPN: If you underestimate am, e go sweet you to know say your IP address, information as zip code and your house location for map dey fit get am?
  • Use a stealth address for your transactions.
  • You fit consider to mix the coins If you know trust it flow. Dey still get more to am as e go need make you pay some fees

These na better points wey you don drop so and from wetin i been read one time like that e no too get different from wetin you don outline so. E de very important to de change address if you wan maintain privacy and also sometimes use of VPN is also useful. I know plenty people go learn from this post so and @Chilwell thanks for translating this topic and making it visible to us in this local board because all my waka so far i never jam this post before.

Original Topic: Identity Security: A Newbies' Priority
Author:KingsDen

Preamble:
Plenty times I don see say people care about the security of their Bitcoin, security of their other assets too, even security of job. Some times because of ignorance we no dey to care about the security of our personal data.
So I go dey talk about this matter for the following sub headings;
1. My identity mistake (na motivation for this thread)
2. how de fit take know you through your Bitcoin address
3. how to take hide who you be
4. why e dey good to hide who you be.

who go fit benefit from this topic?
  • Newbies wey never make Identity mistakes before
  • others wey no too send their Identity security like that
  • Readers, to dey learn as per say no knowledge is a waste

My identity mistake (na motivation for this thread):
If you don dey this forum for more than 3 years, congratulations! Na you be the smartest person for your mate. This forum na place wey be say knowledge boku e full.
Before I join this forum I been dey careless about my identity(offline and online). I been dey  see things for differently and wrongly. For instance now I dey think anybody wey dey avoid KYC na criminal.
I believe am because I dey think say since I no be criminal to dey release my data no go cost me anything because I dey sure say I no go ever turn criminal for future.
I dey wallow for my own ignorance till I enter this forum.
Few weeks for this forum two things just hit my brain;
My quest to take quench this my thirsty thought con give me better knowledge to take answer the above questions.
But before I fit arrive with this knowledge (before I join this forum) they don already scam me with KYC.
My mistake
They invite me say make i con buy share of one UK company for ISO stage, KYC been dey optional that time. Later they con say KYC na major requirement to take get shares if e don mature. I no con get choice than to submit my international passport con even still sign and scan my signature in lieu of my biometrics. I dey convince say my identity no longer dey secured, because they get synchrony between my travel documents and my local documents. Meanwhile my official email address and phone number still dey with them. The overall con be say the project na scam. Before now I don already do verification with plenty non reputable exchanges. I honestly dey wish say I fit reverse my identity mistakes.

why you go dey hide your identity:
  • Your identity dey unique once e dey  compromise, e don dey compromised for life.
  • Dey fit buy your personal data con still  sell am for scammers.
  • If your identity dey hidden e go hard make them know the amount of Bitcoin or assets wey you get
  • They fit even still steal your identity from reliable platforms by hackers
  • Your online identity fit dey  linked or related to your real identity

How dey fit take reveal your identity your Bitcoin address:
  • If you publish your Bitcoin address alongside your real name, either in your website, offline shop or social media
Such address fit dey linked to your personal self.
  • Your identity fit dey tied to your Bitcoin address when you complete your KYC for exchange with your real data. You mean say them dey house your personal data for their database And e fit dey compromised knowingly or unknowingly
  • With the use of hosted wallet: No matter how friendly or less complicated hosted wallets be your data security no dey assured.  This na because say your Bitcoin address and your IP address no dey visible to anybody wey they operate the server.  So dey fit give your data out without your consent, especially when governments need them.

Conclusion:
I no get am for plan to make this topic long pass this one, na the reason why I wan provide few points with short explanations. Then, remember say your identity no dey change, so protect am the way you take dey protect your bitcoin. This na because say, to get  bitcoin con de allow yourself de vulnerable, You fit no live to enjoy your Bitcoin.
If you dey think your password dey compromised, you fit reset your password. But if your identity dey compromised, e dey compromised for life.
