This guy is a joker. Why wallet would do that? Once you delete your private keys. It will be lost forever. What the hell is the delete button is for? Youre just gonna regret it. This is a really a stupid suggestion. The op must be the one to be delete here. Because he is a big trash.

Don't really see the point of adding Trash button, though. Instead of deleting the bitcoins, why don't you just send it to someone who need it or anyone? At least, they could use it to fulfil their needs
Not going to be hypocrite here but, deleting is just plain stupid. You are losing and gain nothing even you will feel regret about it. Unless you consider bitcoin as a threat for your business or whatever then you might have to do it

Please correct me if i am wrong, but you can not delete or destroy Bitcoins. You can make them inaccessible by sending them to an address with an unknown key or something like that, but it will be still visible on the blockchain where the coin is.

i find it amazing there would be a trash button next to the BTC holdings that deletes your BTC in a blink of an eye  Wink

What wallet are you talking about?  i doubt very much that it deletes the private keys, it probably just removes the wallet from your dashboard.

What's so amazing about it as I am not understanding ? What you are asking is equal that all of us have a feature that can burn real money if we want. We all can do it burn real FIAT cash if we want but where is the amusingness in that ? I don't like this option at all and since no one of the developers have talked about it yet it means they don't like it too.

And I also bet no one else in this community likes such option to be added to a bitcoin wallet as it doesn't make any sense.

Obviuosly we do not want to burn the cash or bitcoin, but i am just imagining if there was such a button of trash, peple would have been afraid of it clicking accidentally.  Wink
Lol, of course folks be afraid of clicking it. i'm glad there isn't such a button, we don't need it anyways.

How come that having a trash button in bitcoin is amazing? I don't get your point on thinking to have one of this useless button. Instead of making a TRASH button in bitcoin, don't you think that it is more amazing to have a FREE bitcoin button in you bitcoin wallet, do you? Is there really a lot of people like him posting nonsense stuff just to increase the number of post so that he can rank up easily? this is confusing.

Yeah Its completely stupid idea by OP, Incase if might they have trash button in the sense, They might set the trash button like donate button and all the funds we have in our wallet will go to site owner's wallet or somewhere in blocks.

That's a stupid idea of having such a trash button. Its unwanted thing for a wallet, because even a small mistake makes the user to lose his entire savings made in the wallet. Also such initiation affects the reputation of the wallet.

Why would anyone want to send its own bitcoin to trash and delete it? That doesn't make any sense. What would be the purpose of this? If you want to waist your bitcoins just send them to someone or spend them on something. Bitcoins don't just fall out of sky, you should usualy try hard to get them so I wouldn't like to trash them.

I don't know you, but you seem a sadistic person. You are asking us our reaction to the very thought of loosing our hard earned Bitcoins. Like its takes a long time to earn, and if your method is imagined people would loose it in a second, that's disaster in the making. I am 100% sure this will never come, and be sensitive to the community.

No wallet would ever intend to create a trash button since its too dangerous for having one and also whos gonna delete a bitcoin since its a money and has a value? Whos the one who gonna hate money and loves to delete anyway? This is just a nonsense imagination of creating a trash button.

Yeah it will never happen and it may only take place if indeed bitcoin has value that can still be made was labelled an money. For if bitcoin is not worth the money then everything will turn slowly or quickly, because most people will not care or using something that does not benefit them. Yeah it's true, that everyone will love the money. But if bitcoin has no value then everything will turn around and all will get rid of bitcoin to trash
Trash button would be created only if bitcoin would gone its value but as we see on the current state of bitcoin now its value do really increase and theres no way that someone would able or like to delete its own money. Its not really ideal to implement such thing on having a trash button coz its like you are destroying or throwing money. Earning bitcoin is not easy at all.

I am confused of the button usage, i think it is a dangerous button and a useless button, i cant imagine if some user accidentally pressed the button and all of the bitcoin went into trash, and if the user trashed it where will be coin be? Is it going to lost forever?
I think if a wallet has the button, nobody is going to used it

If bitcoin wallet have trash buttom maybe be careful to use it because it not safe. Once you click that all your bitcoin gone in a seconds so i think that is not advisable.

Delete your private key. You just lost all your bitcoin, and it probably will never be found. Go spam somewhere else please, and stop creating useless threads. I've sent a PM to coinmixer.se asking for you to be removed from the campaign. Also, how would it be amazing? Seems like a way to really really annoy people.

My point of view is with Online wallets where we do not have private keys in our control
Then your BTC wouldn't be deleted, and your wallet provider will probably spend the BTC.

Edit: OP is now permanently banned from the coinmixer.se campaign Cheesy
According from the darkstar post and i can say deleting a spammer is more than enough rather than deleting my btc into a trash and OP just a blatant spammer. LOL Grin

Perhaps a button which distributes your bitcoin to the rest of the people on the network would have been a lot cooler. But why the hell would you want that, incase you end up clicking on it accidentally.
how is that possible? i think it would be cool if there was a trash button because more bitcoins would be destroyed and my bitcoins would be worth more

Yeah, can you imagine the 1) Variety, and 2) Quantity, of posts that this forum would then be flooded with?  It would be like a Niagara-sized waterfall of diarrhea here, with people whining and bitching about how stupid they were for deleting all of their bitcoin.  And you know that's exactly what would happen, too.  So yeah, best keep any sort of delete button far, far away from wallets.

A trash button is a totally stupid idea, but I can easily imagine a wallet sponsored by the Red Cross with a built-in button to donate to the Red Cross (or some other charity...).

If someone actually do it, please indicate the idea is mine.

I remember that when I closed a certain bank account that had like $3 in it, that I had the option to either "donate" it to the bank, or donate it to a real charity. I of course chose for the charity. That actually isn't a bad idea at all, but I prefer clients to be clean and not offer a feature of donating coins to certain charities to get rid of them. People should do it by themselves.

I think this might rank at the top of the list as the most asinine thread I've seen here yet. As others have said, if you wanted to destroy bitcoins there are plenty of other ways to do it. This idea serves no useful purpose at all. I posted here strictly because if it doesn't get deleted, then I should be compensated for being subjected to it.

If there is dust (like 0.0000X-0.0005BTC) I mostly just delete the wallet file as it's done in an instant. But when certain wallet files that I'm about to delete contain like 0.001-0.002BTC, I mostly send them to ThePirateBay donation address.

Why would you ever need that?

Ever?

Why would you even consider for this to be a feature on Bitcoin wallets? There simply isn't any need for it.

Or is this some half-assed attempt at getting a series of responses so you can spam up your post count?

I don't see any use of such button. To make bitcoin balance 0 from any address it need to be transferred to another bitcoin address because bitcoin can't be just erased from ledger, it needs to be transferred to another address.

There are ways to 'destroy' your bitcoins. So if you are really that eager to burn your money you can do it.
The easiest way is sending your BTC to bogus address, specially created address with no known private key.

Example of addresses that will 'burn' your BTC:

- 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE

- 1111111111111111111114oLvT2

- 1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVr

I think it will never be available because for today bitcoin is can be considered as money and there are not people who will delete their money and put them on the trash, except there is not valuable in bitcoin.

Just imagine if it happens, what will be your reaction ?

I agree it is not helpful, but then again we can give ideas.  No one has ever thought of this idea
