Why stop there, how about 1,000  posts for $50.

y=x^2 is a parabola
The forum could only realistically sell newbie accounts, with the restrictions already removed, and at a price to discourage spammers.  But I believe most people looking to buy accounts want reputable accounts, and I don't think it'd bide well if the forum started to seize accounts to sell them Tongue
Create account. Set creation date to late '11, insert 15 crap posts inside dead threads nobody will resurrect.

Some template posts from late 2011:

  • Do you think bitcoin will ever hit $30 again?
  • What is the best CPU for mining?
  • I just invested all my bitcoins in Bitcoin Savings and Trust, I am going to be rich!

I'm new to this but I gotta LOL at that.

(assuming SMF can do that without heavy modification not readily available)
Account creation time is a regular Unix timestamp but SMF provides no facilities to modify it.
It is called editing a MySQL database. Administrators can do live queries on it and it is totally possible for thus to be done, but I don't think it is actually being done.
Exactly. The only problem would be making the actual posts. A post count of 78,658 seems pretty suspicious with no "recent posts."

Changing avatars is currently not possible.

Boom. $15. (assuming SMF can do that without heavy modification not readily available)

Why stop there, how about 1,000  posts for $50.  Add moderator status for $80 more.

Hrmm I'm sure it's entirely possible.  But that gives even less reason to trust any account on activity or status alone.  I like it!
