What do I have to do to become your friend? nah, haha. Good idea!. I think the most my friends will be getting are some free Steam trading cards, I have a ton of Civ v ones I can virtually spam them with!

Its a great idea but I would explain the security risks and emphasize 2fa if they are using an online wallet service.  You dont want their gift to get stolen.

I've decided that a great way to potentially help the Bitcoin ecosystem (and those nearest and dearest) is give away some BTC this Xmas to friends and family. I think it would be great if lots of people who are into it here, did the same thing.

I've done mine as an email which goes something like this...

Subject: A Bitcoin Xmas

Seasons greetings!

So you've probably heard about Bitcoin... it's been getting a lot of press lately. It may not surprise you that I'm rather involved in it and generally quite positive about it. I think it's either going to the moon, or zero - a punt basically... but a potentially very rewarding one if you get in before the masses. Most people have no idea how to get Bitcoin or hold Bitcoin and good information can be sketchy to find.

Anyway, Bitcoin prices are tumbling today because of some news out of China. The next 24-48 hours might represent a good time to pick some up.

If you'd like to know how, let me know, and I'll send some information over. As a special Xmas gift I'll even send you a little Bitcoin for free - as in beer!

Free bitcoin for you!!

x

I've sent this to about 20 friends and family members, and so far nearly half have come back asking for more info. I plan to now write a follow up email to those who've shown interest, explaining how to set up a client wallet. I'll then follow that up with sending them their first coin. Smiley

Anyone else think this is a good idea, or bad idea?
