Power corrupts...Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It takes a strong minded man to not be tainted on their way up to power.

And rarely do you see a person who is an elected public figure that does not have a certain personality that is needed to get there.

Absolute power corrupts indeed. One thing I have always noticed is that people usually have plans before even getting into power and then, they tend to give you a load down of all the things they will do and achieve if put in power, but in reality when they get there, their hands end up becoming tied and they won't even know what hit them before they eventually realize how much they have changed just in a very short term and it would take someone who is highly  principled, filled with vision and ready to make a name for himself that power will not corrupt.

I can see your good intentions, I also think like that, the government must realize the greatness of the blockchain, I have been frustrated to see many people corrupt, sad to see poor people who have to get help but the help was taken by corruptors. if the government knows blockchain technology can be a very good bridge to help people because money can be sent directly to the recipient's wallet safely without parties
What you are not adding to this is the fact that the government themselves are the corrupt ones for most especially the underdeveloped countries. As long as this is in play and their corruption still persists, they will always find a way to jeopardize the effort of anything that is going to disrupt the way they have been doing things over the years and in that case, we both know how things will turn out. It depends on a government that is really ready to work and leave some legacy, but for now, it is hard to find them.

Moreover, it might seems so easy to say that government will tend to find a way to adopt blockchain technology in the long run, but we also have to understand that corruption has dug so deep in some parts of the world, that things that are supposed to be provided for the citizens are not there and that makes them a whole less enlightening. As long as there is someone in the position of power siphoning and looting all the funds, I doubt in such scenario that would be any possible adoption as well.
Its easy to say such thing but when it came to do its become hard. You'll face a lots of problems. People won't pay you tax which mean you'll never able to work Your idea is good but you'll face a lots of problem in future.

IF i had the chance to managed a certain government i would really apply blockchain technology and give their budget in a form of cryptocurrency or digital currency that could be used as a form of payment and could even trade to fiat money. In this way we could eradicate the corruption because the public could be aware on where the budget of the people coming from taxes will going through. Yet, until now the government is not interested on cryptocurrency or if they are they are not willing also to investigate and checked how cryptocurrency works and how could it will be applied on their system. They just want their business to continue as usual doing ghost project? I do not know maybe!

Blockchain won't eliminate corruption. Let me give you an example - the government allocates 100 bitcoins (or any other cryptocurrency for that matter) for construction of a bridge. This gets paid to a contractor. The contractor doesn't build the bridge according to specifications, pockets the amount and pays off government officials in kind. Everything looks hunky dory on the blockchain, but there is corruption.

but not because other governments that do not allow bitcoin to enter their country does not mean that they do not understand the benefits of bitcoin, you mention only the benefits not with its shortcomings and a very large responsibility if bitcoin can be legalized

I'd change a lot of things, I'd like to bring professional education for politicians because 90% of politicians in my country are not professionals and that affects our wealth and level of life.

Well, I think in every country, the politicians are only concerns about how they can get more money without thinking about other people's life, and I agree that we can change this if we can manage the government. But to do this, we need to be one person who has the power to get them to know about the others, and they can contribute to making a better life for our people. It is difficult to do because besides have the power, we also need support from the other people so our strategy can work well for our country.

Not possible, a government will never use blockchain technology. Blockchain is totally decentralised where as the control of government is not completely decentralised . Many countries are not even accepting crypto, and you are saying to present annual budget in crypto currency. It only sounds good but practically its not possible.

Japan today is using cryptocurrency in their own country because they really know that it was very profitable and it can improve their own economy.
I would say that is a smart government. I am sure most government will actually be looking at a way they can keep monitoring the situation of things and seeing how the countries using them are faring before they will even decide to attempt adoption.

All the above, even if any of us could manage the government as it is, it would take a lot to still be able to put a lot together depending on how technologically oriented the country is, and then be able to implement the usage of blockchain technology. Moreover, it takes someone who fully understands the importance of blockchain technology at large.

I don't think you can eradicate corruption with blockchain and cryptocurrencies.  You can trace fiat money/bank account but how about crypto with their anonymity?
Exactly. These are very logical pints. The central bank in my country is about to cancel a note with a value as high as $50 (that is 5000rupees in my country) just to reduce corruption. You can do it with fiat but I do not think it could be done with cryptocurrency just because of its anonymity which is also a reason majority if countries have still not yet recognized it.

I have ever a chance to take the hold I would legalize bitcoin from the very first day and allow people to invest and trade in bitcoin as much as they can. Improve your financial position, make money from cryptocurrency and solve your problems by yourself. Don’t wait for government and try to handle small needs of the daily life for the community. Then I would say that bitcoin really can change the economy.

it will easy to say that but the reality is too hard to apply because you need to study more about cryptocurrency and not all government ready for the new technology. you need to discuss with your government to decide to approve the cryptocurrency and it will not go to happen in the short-term and it's not similar like move your hands up and down easily. but I am sure that there is the government that interest with the cryptocurrency but they remain silent before they understand the basis of the cryptocurrency and the benefits that they can get from the cryptocurrency.

Thats it,japan the most technological country in the world adapts easily the blockchain since they know that this is the future currency for technology
if the Japanese government can prove that blockchain technology can develop its country, I think in the future there will be more and more countries that follow because Japan is one of the big countries that has influence and is the concern of other countries.

I think eventually blockchain technology will be use if blockchain can approve that they are worth and useful as it said by many people. Its will takes time to change system and to imppement a new system and it were not that easy. Every thing should change step by step and rush just make something bad out of it.

They are really interested in this market but they have no right to penetrate into this market. Because the altcoins are just money transfer tools and it can not be considered a business way and they can not impose taxes on us. Besides, they can not protect investors like us.

One of the reason why they are not approved to bitcoin because sometimes there will have a project without any bidding I mean this directly approved by government leader sometimes without receipt that's the big reason why  some  government official  doesn't approve want t use bitcoin.

You that government was the number one who against in blockchain technology because they don't have any control it this technology specially to that fluctuations. But you can create a coin and connect ro the blockchain to make it better the new technology and the new upate was near and coming. If the government thinking nicely blockchain or cryptocurrency was better if they apply better.

You don't even need to be a government just for this. Soon, they will start adopting it and will use the tech for trial to begin with the adoption and if the experiment is successful, you will see the use of it afterwards. Governments adopting blockchain is good but we don't want them to rule over crypto's as its a decentralized one though how hard they will only regulating is what they can do.

Good thinking but to implement it all takes a long time especially for developing countries. If the blockchain system is implemented by the government it is good especially corruption is now increasingly widespread.

Should not take long even in the Developing Countries if there are competent leaders. Lying, incompetency, covering up frauds will be pretty much difficult for politicians on open Blockchain.

Won't be too difficult to implement in my opinion. There is nothing difficult in being transparent. Full governance on Blockchains will be achieved with or without the support of  traditional Countries. It will be most efficient and unattractive to politickers/politicians.

If the government really intend to have full transparency, crypto isn't the only way. They could simply release the full financial report. What happens in my country is these data should be publicly available but the government, especially local government, make it hard for us to find it. Applying blockchain to the whole system would require a massive effort and is a bit overkill in my opinion.

If you would become the president then you can lead the government. The idea is great that we all wanted to have that kind of government in us. maybe it would be good if the government implemented cyrptocurrency even to pay the salaries of civil servants, the application of cyrptocurrency would have a good impact on the economy of a country
Paying cryptocurrency for a government workers is still not possible, and maybe will not happen. People still need stable income, and cryptomarket is not. Better to use Blockchain technology for some project, so there is transparency and everything is recorded. I will also do the same thing if I’m witht the government.

It's not as easy as turning the palm of your hand, because the government can now build from now on, on the other hand we think negatively about society, it will definitely take excessive risks, so don't worry we need time to develop more than anything, learn better to be a part good and fair government.

The government and its decision making progress is far different than what the public think about it. I am pretty sure they have to look after many things before they can accept anything within their country.

If I were you then surely I will also make the same decision of accepting the blockchcian technology and might just tell everyone that explore huge assets and usage of the blockchain so that we can improve the living standard within the country by having advance technology in our nation. May be some of us may think of applying the tech for controlling the weapons in the millitary sitting at home land and thus operating safely.

In short huge exploration can really be done but im sure there are more than enough challenges within that.

yes, if blockchain is applied in the government, corruption may be minimized significantly because all transactions can be seen by the public
but government must anticipate the anonymous nature. if it is legalized, it means that it is more free to transact using blockchain, and that gives an opportunity for money laundering

in my opinion, prevention of money laundering is not necessary
because the bad effect is far more significant than the good effect, the example of the bad effect is that the economy is difficult to develop due to government supervision.
it is also not in line with a decentralized world

so if the government implements blockchain then maybe at that moment they have realized how bad excessive supervision in the community on economic growth

It is always easier said than done. We cannot force any government to accept blockchain technology. Governments are considering a lot of things, weighing everything about bitcoin crypto, blockchain thing, etc. As long as they are not convinced yet and has a negative things seeing about it, it may hard for them to totally adopt it.
Apparently, we cannot force them, but the fear of missing out from the game as other countries start taking the bold step and seeing the benefit it is driving in for them, will make any SERIOUS country and the government to find a way to make that work in the long run.

However, all this like I said about depends on how serious the government is, for instance, Internet has been on for quite some years now and there are still some places in the world with limited infrastructure when it comes to Internet, tell me how that would be possible to adopt blockchain technology in this scenario, when they are even far behind in Internet technology.

I should say that it's a good way to used blockchain technology, and the governments are not against blockchain, in fact many countries already start to do research on blockchain, but the governments are not agree with crypto currencies that are decentralised, I think we need a government that able to see the benefit of crypto, not only see the bad side of crypto

There are things that needs to be studied first before implementing it most especially if it will be applied to a country. Making decisions for the country is a very delicate one.

It is just your dreams. It is impossible to realize your ideas in the current world because the world system is based on lie, mysteries, money, force, authority and so forth. The current world system is absolutely not fair. I suppose if some of your ideas would be implemented we could not recognize the new world because everything would be changed. By the way there are funny movies in youtube where people always tell the truth I think that funny movies are correlate with our discussion especially with the results of using crypto technologies on the government level.

That is a great idea, but it is too early think about crypto currecny applied by the government. Applying blockchain technology is full of advantages. However, the cases the government should solve is not only corruptions. There are many more crucial problem suffering by some countries that should be done. Don't see crypto currency and blockchain technology from one side only. The government has their own reasons about it.

It should be supported and funded by the government to apply the blockchain technology in one country. Cryptocurrency can be traceable and difficult to fake but remember it can be crashed by some elite hackers. Greedy politicians can hire elite hackers to hack if there is central bank of the crytocurrency.

If I managed the government, they would probably assassinate me. In the end you need to control a government by keeping everyone happy and the way I would run a country would make poor people happy but the rich would be going insane from the things I do. I have to increase the taxes too much for rich and lower for poor and try to make everything free as much as I can that government has a power to do.

Stuff like schools, hospitals, water, electricity, internet, phones, roads, and all of that would be free because thanks to the new law that makes rich people pay for it. Capping wealth at a certain limit would make rich people look to invest other places, yet everyone in the country would live an alright life thanks to it.

I really inspire this thought, many of the Crypto community will agree. but in a government there must be a shadow of a black shadow that can sometimes play with the government system and they are sometimes untouched. they certainly don't want the system they have built to be destroyed by the presence of blockchain and crypto. from now on we have to struggle to find and defeat the system

One thing that would pose a problem, would be if your intelligence budget and other highly secret projects that are funded by

that division, could be traced. Some governments use some of their budget to fund highly confidential projects and you do not

want that information to end up in the wrong hands.  Roll Eyes  I do not have a problem with transparency in governments, but

some of these divisions needs some degree of secrecy to perform their tasks. Imagine if you could follow payments that was

done to informers or Whistle-blowers.  Roll Eyes

You have a point but let me show how this can be done without disclosing the confidential information which should remain as such in the interests of state security. For example, there can be an address called "Homeland Security" or "Intelligence" where, say,  2% of the taxpayers' money goes, but after that it is exchanged for fiat and nobody can tell anything about its subsequent fate. People just know that 2% of their taxes go to that address, and that's it. While at the same time, the fate of the remaining 98% of the taxpayers' money is absolutely transparent and thus any citizen can trace where the money go. So, yes, blockchain technology can be and should be implemented for the transparency of tax system.

Blockchain technology could be applied even without its own version of cryptocurrency, you just have to replace the old system with the new one and apply it. Let us remember that the only thing being recorded is the transaction and you don't need any kind of unique money to be involved with it. You can still use your own local fiat currency and just record it as an official transaction under your own blockchain therefore all the dates, money, and for what project is it for will be accounted.

If given the chance then i would prefer legalizing cryptocurrency in our government. If in today's administration, we cannot increase employability status, then crypto industry might help the government to improve better. If they will just investigate on how crypto works and how it will help the country, they might realize the contribution that it may give to the people.

Good thinking but to implement it all takes a long time especially for developing countries. If the blockchain system is implemented by the government it is good especially corruption is now increasingly widespread.
Corruption can be used with or without the implementation of the blockchain technology. The cause that the blockchain was created for was to oppose the corrupted governments and banks. If those two use the blockchain technology, corruption will be used as well. I do not think it is good for both of them. Added to that, many countries are still biased about cryptocurrency in general and still have not set a law about it. So, I expect many years to be taken for them to start using the blockchain.

Some people may agree to you but how about who stand in opposition? Would you insist your plan to be implemented? If yes then I think that will be a bad idea. Your country might face chaos because of the dictatorship-like form of governance. I know that your intentions are good but of course you should still consider the pulse of the society.
IF i had the chance to managed a certain government i would really apply blockchain technology and give their budget in a form of cryptocurrency or digital currency that could be used as a form of payment and could even trade to fiat money.
Oops! The price of crypto is naturally volatile, remember? I think it will be hard to manage the funds properly if its value fluctuates from time to time. So for now, still fiat wins and crypto could only be an option dealing with small transactions.
In this way we could eradicate the corruption

For me, the best way of getting rid off the corruption or greatly reduce it at least is by filtering the government itself. Hunting down the corrupt officials is the key since they are the root of the problem because I believe that clean governance is the start for continuous growth.
It is really that hard just. to select and filter those good government employees as we all know even the closest friend and relatives in the government still do corruption without recognizing if you are a friend or a relatives as the money will really matter to them. The government should invorporate the blockchain system to eradicate corruption and impose transaparency through blockchain.

You need to know that being a top official you have to consider all options and possibilities that it will benefits all level of your countrymen. If you will go with blockchain, how do you manage the price manipulation by those whales? This is the reason why bitcoin will not go as a currency and slow in mass adoption as the volatility is too high. Imagine from $1k it pumps to $20k and then drops to $6k in less than 2 years span. It can lose the money from your government with the decline of bitcoin price...will you say to your people that we need to hold since the price drops and we lose the value of our money?

Obama built a website to monitor budget spending in his 1st term. Almost no one bothered to look or keep track of it, afaik.

People sometimes adhere to the view that government exists to prevent them from caring or thinking about issues. This may not be a realistic approach. For society to function and thrive could require a basic standard of knowledge and competency from the public. People must support the right policies and have the education and information to recognize which stances are best for them. There isn't necessarily a substitute for this. Often the media will convince the public to support things which are the worst for them.

Blockchain can reduce the trust factor present in transactions. It has not yet engineered to be viable in removing the trust factor from deciding economic, financial or regulatory policy. And so while I like the optimism, I think blockchain may not yet be poised to eliminate corruption in the real world.

That seems to be a good idea. Government funds on cryptocurrency is a bit transparent in that case. Yet their seems to be a disadvantage if it would follow the system used by most cryptocurrency. The problem would be in the form of volatility that coins will have. It should be different and based on fiat for it to become effectively transferred otherwise some price manipulation could probably occur given that projects or budgets are big or is high valued.

Even we hunt them and remove from their position, corruption won't end that easy. A blood that runs into the system that can't be stop unless you kill it. And achieving a clean governance is like finding a salt in water. Impossible.

So this blockchain technology that OP wanted to do in government is insoluble and I guess government won't agree to establish a decentralized thus they want it to be fully centralized wherein they can manipulate everything. And many aspect should be taking out for consideration but one thing is certain that having blockchain isn't the answer.

Yes there are many possible situations that we must think first before implementing the cryptocurrency as a payment system. Cryptocurrency can change a lot in our society and also the government but before implementing that we should ensure that every people are agree and aware about its system so that they can also have an idea that could help them to use it based on its functions and everyone can be benefited from it.

yes, if blockchain is applied in the government, corruption may be minimized significantly because all transactions can be seen by the public
but government must anticipate the anonymous nature. if it is legalized, it means that it is more free to transact using blockchain, and that gives an opportunity for money laundering

The thing about policy making is that it isn't going to benefit everybody. What makes you thing streaming the government activities via the blockchain is going to advance the country transparently? I understand your concerns about the government but there are many more factors that are affecting their decision and one may not understand if we are not in their position. We do say a lot about the wrong decision making of government but to be honest they don't decide things out of thin air but with smartest mind on the panel who take the decision over things that matters and things that doesn't. There is huge difference in our thinking and the government itself because they have to look after many things that are going under within the nation. Belive me we wouldn't know it and if you ever get the chance to become government then you may come to know what I am saying right now.

This. For some reason most people imagine corrupted politician as some evil-laughing thief who just fills his pockets with taxpayers money. In practice, such guy would just make action that benefits certain influential group, so at the end of his political career he can land a cosy spot in some board of directors of affiliated company (or get his children on the payroll). We even have legalised bribery in form of lobby groups donating to political campaigns. Blockchain's transparency won't help much with that.

hey bro, blockchain technology must be decentralized from any party. If the government intervenes in blockchain technology, many parties do not agree because there will be a lot of data that can be accessed individually. Blockchain technology will hamper its growth because the government intervenes in it.

I agree, once the government interferes there would be more individual that will reject it government will not be as good as it looks like when they get involve. Its not that bad if the government will somehow be involve because there would be some people who will feel more secured since they trust government so much but the problem is it depends on their perspective country, unless your country has a decent run and smooth economy then involving government will be a good move as long as the government can be trusted and is guaranteed to do its perspective mission.

Everyone here also has a lot of understanding like that, but if you have been involved in government, I'm sure it will be very difficult to launch what you want mass adoption everywhere, at other times we don't want to get more control from the government to overall control, I hope that the original nature of blockchain or cryptocurrency is to keep away from the hands of others, namely decentralization, I hope you will find it very difficult to understand each other's opinions.

It sounds good but it can also gives some new problems. There are some government projects that are kept to be secret for the safety of the people and also the country. I see that t should be some projects as per the transparency and accountability is concerned.

Roll Eyes

hey bro, blockchain technology must be decentralized from any party. If the government intervenes in blockchain technology, many parties do not agree because there will be a lot of data that can be accessed individually. Blockchain technology will hamper its growth because the government intervenes in it.
What about the team presenting the system to the US congress for applications to approve cryptocurrency and legalize isnt that begging for acceptance. Yeah i agree that we do not want the government to intervene but you have to read also the post it does not state that bitcoin will be used it does only speak of a system like bitcoin where blockchain technology is applied that functions the same as bitcoin and even tradable to fiat.

Good thinking but to implement it all takes a long time especially for developing countries. If the blockchain system is implemented by the government it is good especially corruption is now increasingly widespread.

Wow thanks for dictating shit to us man.  How about you let us be free to make our own decisions.  Just a though there.  We are all big boys and don't need any government including yours protecting us.

For sure, there is conceivable to oversee by an administration however it just selectable. What our legislature can do here is to force a duty on the subject, particularly in bitcoin, where they can get spending plan for approaching tasks or exercises.
In any case, there is little probability that the administration will deal with it in light of its solid office and particularly we don't know who claims it. Furthermore, it might be that the economy of bitcoin or crypto influences whether the legislature might be feeble here.

Yeah you have the good idea but if you want to be heard by them you should know the proper place and the proper department of the government agency concern. I think the south korean government had already started to develop a system that same as with bitcoin that has a blockchain technology to incorporate with their system to completely eradicate corruption.
