I understand. I may try it at a later date but for my small amount of coinage, dodgy internet connection, sluggish computer i think i willl have to go lightweight for now. but i thank you all for your help merry christmas everyone

Armory is a wallet for power users. You are expected to know your way around Bitcoin and be willing to invest in the recommended hardware to even begin to use it properly. New comers should start with training wheels. Godspeed.

wow, downloaded electrum   and it just works. why does all this palava with armory happen. what a waste of time. oh well. thanks for all your help and patience with me

Security <--------|--------> Convenience

Armory's priority is security. It also happens to be an advanced wallet which gives the user maximum control over their Bitcoins.

There is a cost to achieve these levels of security and control. Some of us are more than willing to pay that cost, others are not.

As with most things in life, you must choose what is important to you. Those of us who don't want to accidentally all our coins are more than happy to accept the trade-offs required to enjoy the levels of security and control which Armory provides.

Armory is a "full node" wallet, basically meaning you are your own bank. Electrum is a "lite node" wallet, meaning you're at the mercy of other people to tell you what's going on. Both have their pros and cons. With Armory, you have to download a ton of data before starting, but you also control your own destiny.

No, there is no way to "recall" anything in Bitcoin. How would you like it if someone paid you, and then "recalled" that payment? The network doesn't know it's you paying yourself.

Your options are:

1) Download the entire blockchain and use Armory as intended
2) Export private keys from Armory and import into another wallet that supports regular Bitcoin private keys (i.e. NOT mSIGNA), such as Electrum, and send it to mSIGNA using that wallet.

yes I understand. my problem though is that i tried to send coins from msigna to armory, the bitcoin log shows the coins have been sent but i cant get them into armory. i didnt realise id need to download the complete blockchain, which at this rate is taking several weeks. i wanted to know if there was a way the coin could be recalled to msigna,?

I tried mSIGNA once... it was confusing as hell... and it seems to deal exclusively with "MultiSig" (or at least P2SH) addresses... it wanted to generate M-of-N "keychains"... you can't just use a standard P2PKH address with a private key, as far as I'm aware.

So, I don't think you can directly import your private key there. You'll need to use some other wallet (like Electrum)... and then send to mSIGNA if that's where you want the coins to be.

Wallet Properties -> Backup This Wallet -> See other backup options -> Select "export keys list" -> click "export keys list" button

Then make sure that ONLY the following are checked:
- Address String
- Private Key (Plain Base58)
- Included unsused (address pool)
- Omit spaces in key data

It will give you a LOT of addresses/private keys... find the pair that matches the address you sent coins to. You can then just copy/paste that private key as required.

Extract the private key of the funded address and import it into another wallet.

I decided to try armory, installed it,  then sent myself some coin from a different wallet, this is verified on blockchain.info.. but then realised id have to download the full node bitcoin core before i can accept it. as this is likely to take 2 weeks, if my hardrive has the space, is there a way i can reverse this. as in effect im sending the coin to myself just at a different wallet.......im so confused
