Because of the price volatility of bitcoin that's why they don't want to adopt cryptocurrency payments. Also, considering that Bitcoin is not their technology. You cannot adopt easily when the technology is not from you, they want full access or responsibility when it comes on crypto payments. But I read an article recenlty, they're working on crypto payments on facebook messenger however it's not directly to facebook but directly to a bitcoin platform.

I have already heared some rumors that facebook is working on its own cryptocurrency. They have their own coding language, why not create their own currency? One first step would be to remove the ads of the competitiors. Pretending that it is for the benefit for the users would be a good excuse. And after a while they show up with their own token.

I think maybe facebook wants to come up with an encrypted currency of its own.
If not, they may be under pressure from the us government, and they will not be allowed to accept encrypted currency payments until the government agrees.

The answer is simply : It is not their own technology. They want full control over the technology that they want to implement.
I seriously think that Facebook would be announcing soon that they would be launching their own Blockchain based technology
for Facebook. These guys will only do something, if they can profit from it.
{Expect this technology to be stripped off all anonymity, because they report to the US government.}
