if paypal will close there will be another paying method but paypal will never close why would they. There are many paypal users many more then bitcoin users so he will never close for sure. And if you think so don't think to much let a horse think for you he has a bigger head.

If paypal is going to close them it just happen, it does not matter much to me if it is going to close or not because there are many other ways to pay online. I would just choose something else if paypal is going to leave us.

Yeah maybe , bitcoin price could reach as high as that or more if it will be used mainly for purchasing and selling products/services but as of this time, this is unrealistic to happen. Paypal will still be valid because of its buyer protection like their refund feature and bitcoin doesn't have that.

and it's possible if bitcoin is accepted where paypal is accepted. I think paypal will close

What a fantasy you have OP!

PayPal can only lose a good portion of its customers in the worst case scenario, but not more than that.

Fact is that PayPal has been growing year on year as people for some reason seem to like it as it got good buyer protection.

I can't find the relation between those both issues. What has to do a potential fall of PayPal with the eventual raise of the bitcoin price to $2000?

This kind of unfortunate situations are just the natural consequence of rewards hunting.

Having 1 potential competitor out is always good, in every field you work in. But just because paypal leaves the scene doesn't means bitcoin will see it's price times 5. At best a 30 dollars price rise. Which is a dream since I don't see paypal going way anytime soon.

If paypal will close everyone will change into another payment processor, so we too will change to the mainstream payment processor.

Paypal will not close. It's a company which is making millions dollars of profit. With EBAY backing them they seem to be in for a long time
Perhaps they even will bring out a physical card.

Paypay can't get closed down. What they do is an almost riskfree business. Unless someonehacks some big accounts with huge balance and somehow steal their funds (which is almost impossible btw) they will stay in the business. There are and will be better alternatives than paypal but they succeeded their safe place among the others thanks to ebay.

Yeah, its not easy to expect that Paypal will close in future, its still very popular worldwide and it has maximum number of users, people who are not aware about bitcoin yet will prefer to  use only Paypal.
Well, you never actually know of the future. It's nearly impossible, but there's always a slight percentage of a chance that anything, even PayPal might go down. Although we're pretty sure that they will probably fix it back up in no time with their backups.
And if PayPal does close down, it doesn't directly affect bitcoins because there are other payment platforms such as payza, skrill, etc.

I will give my online earning friends a party if they get started to kicked out of most of the coutries as they don't allow under develop and developing country to use their service that feels so much dominated. Bitcoin is better and anybody can use it and any amount can be transacted. Paypal will be story which have heavy fee more than 5% per transaction with chargebacks.  Shocked

Imagine the increase in BTC
i say 2000$

well i think that it could be possible, because every paypal user would use bitcoins then to pay/get money, so they would create wallets and buy some bitcoins then from other so price would rise

but i don't see a good reason why paypal should close as it have a lot of users, maybe in future it will have less users but not now at least, so it is silly to predict price now

No.. No way bitcoin will rise to 2000 in just span of few days, and bitcoin's price does not depend only on its competitors it's mainly depended on the number of bitcoin available.

Interesting point. I stopped and pondered about Paypal potential bankruptcy for a moment (unfortunately it is pure fiction ATM as Paypal is standing strong)
It would be definitely a boost for bitcoin - but not as big as many of you are expecting. Banks and standard payment processors will get the majority of it and fill the void.
With bitcoin maybe sharing 10% or Paypal's former customers.

I don't think the closure of paypal would matter too much to the bitcoin community. Nor will it affect the bitcoin's future or price in any noticeable way. You could say that, yes, when paypal closes people will switch to bitcoin, but the truth is people are already preferring bitcoin as a payment over paypal because it is impossible to get charged back on, and it is impossible for a company to run away with their money.

Paypal is already traded at a discount because of all the issues associated with it. When it closes, people are likely already using bitcoin and paypal will close as a direct result of it.

This is nothing more than a wet dream of many Bitcoiners, but yes, it will definitely have a positive impact on the price. Perhaps it will result in a short term $200-$500 increase from the price now, but that's all.

lol paypal will never close and if ever, their alternatives will flourish such as payoneer. although some may resort to crypto still thier confidence to digital money isn't that great even today there are people who live half their life on the internet yet not even have the interest to go into btc.

I know PayPal will not make place for anything else. That's why I said that this is nothing more than a wet dream of many Bitcoiners. I just answered OP with "What if..." That's all. Wink

It is unlikely that an established market leader like Paypal will close down.
If it does badly, I am sure it will get sold to another corporate, who will attempt to revive it.

I guess if paypal has been closed and is not used anymore, I guess all users of the payment processor will begin to learn to find and use bitcoin as a new cash deposit

This is not going to happen imo.PAyPal will try to adopt over the long run.
Either with Bitcoin or some other Blockchain type of network.

I think that are 2 different concept... and even another company could easily create a new paypal company ... nothing new...
Probably could affect more btc price, if paypal decide to adopt btc!!!

Paypal as stated is going no where they bought Modest last year that gives them entrance into the mobile payment platform and would expect them to keep addressing their needs as a stand alone from ebay.
The fight for mobile banking like googlepay, applepay and whatever other swipe and pay with your phone is going to be a dog fight.
We will do well as they fight but when the winner shows up you can expect fees to increase and stab us through the eye.
A lot of the current deals apple is signing have rates to go up after a few years of use, which will trickle all the way down to the customer.
But thats still a ways out and bitcoin will most likely not benefit from any aspects of that,it may even retract.

I think it does not affect the price of bitcoin. PayPal is more popular than bitcoin in this current. I do not know how it goes if when the price like that. But I do not think paypal will close but maybe just a little ignored.

Paypal, eBay and Amazon have first mover advantage and they managed to build a solid ecosystem around them and many small shops are depending on these ecosystem for a living. It is unlikely such a big set up Paypal will close in the near future.

We all like to see mega organisations fail. Nonetheless. haha

I don't think paypal has a significant affect on the price of bitcoin.  There are other companies that can do what paypal does but are not as popular.  Bitcoin will have it's own place in finance as a store a value and a way to tranfers funds in addition to a way to pay for goods online or in person.

Not likely they will close any time soon due to the strong ecosystem they have in the e-transaction market. But I foresee they will reduce their commission in the near future.
