Why not if i can have believe and confidence in using bitcoin from Satoshi and i got lots of trust in his delivery capacity that if he can be successful in the launch of the first decentralized digital currency bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency and it's working and going as expected then giving a try on bitcoin 2.0 if launched shouldn't be a thing of doubt by all means, write now i confidently use bitcoin in making transactions and not only that, but its also a world wide recognized digital currency, and I don't expect you as well to have doubt on what can comes out from the him because it will always be an improvement over the existing one just as bitcoin comes to solve the challenges in dealing with Fiat currency.

This OP was made three years ago, precisely in April 2019, and since then no one has come forth as Satoshi till date. I think the whole Satoshi identity thing isn't going to be resolved. It's buried in the sand now. BTW, there's a crypto called BTC2; as in Bitcoin2, but I don't know if it's trading now. When it debuted a few years ago, I thought it would've the same potential as Bitcoin. How wrong I was, looking back now.

The question by the OP is not realistic and it is just an imaginary thing to happen. We all know that satoshi identity is unknown so there is no point in thinking that he may develop a new chain. I am not in favour of bitcoin 2.0 or anything like that.

It is not a difficult question to answer, Satoshi Nakamoto is anonymous and we should not expect anything like that as he did not even plan to make bitcoin to have 2.0 because it was not on the bitcoin white paper.

Another thing about this, bitcoin 2.0 proposal will only lead to a fork which will bring about another altcoins.

I would use it, if he (or any other person/group) came up with another revolutionary idea, which would make Bitcoin obsolete. It wouldn´t matter to me, if he signed with his pgp key or early private keys or not. It´s the code that counts.

He won't have such plans and in that case already we've got more number of Satoshi in the cryptospace. If you go through the coinmarketcap and search bitcoin we'll get to see a big list apart from the real bitcoin. Satoshi have innovated the technology and beyond this there is very minimal chance to think of 2.0, because when there is no limit automatically the system gets into destruction same as printing money.

Initially I believe that Satoshi will not make a move for it but let's just assume he does, I will definitely use it because bitcoin 2.0 will definitely be an upgraded version of the initial bitcoin, there will be an improvement and lots of other things in it, just like the way lots of people are keen and waiting for ethereum 2.0

Sorry for the necro-bump but I saw this post and thought it was interesting.  Personally, I wouldn't follow satoshi into Bitcoin 2.0 at this point based on the fact that the creator of Bitcoin was releasing a new coin.  I would have to see the code and learn what improvements were made, then evaluate if I felt it was better or worse than my current investments.  I didn't buy Bitcoin because of satoshi, and I wouldn't buy Bitcoin 2.0 because of satoshi either.  If it was a great idea though and I felt it had a future, I would definitely invest based on the merit of the idea.

Can you image how much having bitcoin 2.0 is going to confuse people. I can just see millions of $$ being lost from doing swaps from silly people who don't use proper security or who send everything in one transactions. I don't even get fork coins because I don't want to ever have any problem where I sent my coins to the wrong address or I lose access to them somehow. I very much dislike the idea of moving an entire wallet and every single bitcoin you own for fork.

You can't compare like that. Some "updates" are more like downgrades. Not all "upgrades" are an improvement.

Well, this is a very difficult question to answer. But do you really think that he'll do that? Why can't he just fork the already existing coin to include his new ideas? Anyway, let's talk about this unlikely scenario. In case that happens, then obviously I will be tempted to invest in the new currency. But right now it is difficult to say how much of my BTC I will be willing to sell at that point.

I'm pretty uncomfortable with this sort of appeal to authority. Satoshi released Bitcoin obscurely and anonymously and disappeared the same way. He let the market decide. I don't think he's interested in using his authority now to push an alternative technology. If he wanted to release "Bitcoin 2.0" then I think he do it anonymously and let the market decide again.

If he would really make one, why not give it a try?? And if Satoshi would make version 2.0, it means that it's more developed than the first one since it's "Bitcoin2.0". That would make sense right? He wouldn't make one if it ain't a better version.

Of course, as we know bitcoin does lack of many features and it has a lot of problems which are seen after Satoshi left us like it takes time for the transaction confirmation and it needs higher txd fees. if Satoshi makes a bitcoin 2.0 then, of course, he is going to cover all those issues and what if he can add even more benefits to the coin. that would be life changing but that's not gonna happen.

If satoshi comes with bitcoin 2.0 that means bitcoin 1.0 fail. And that's enough reason to move to the new version. The problem here is when someone says he is satoshi and launch his version without prove he is satoshi, just like CW did it. That way i just will ignore that version and stay with the old one.

Hmmm, ok, if he would really only develop Bitcoin further and not destroy his original creation, it would certainly be interesting. But if he started a completely new blockchain, the old Bitcoin blockchain would be dead and worthless overnight. Windows 95 has no value today either and is useless. With an operating system that's ok, but with a currency like Bitcoin it would be a disaster. Developing further or starting a new blockchain are two different things for me. I am for further development of the Bitcoin blockchain, but never for a start of a new blockchain, even if it would still be called Bitcoin. 

Well in bitcoin 2.0 there will be decentralized voting I would imagine, so the users on the network would vote if we should move to bitcoin 3.0.

If Satoshi would do something like this, how could you trust his words in the future? He would destroy his own creation, Bitcoin. So a decentralized currency would be destroyed by only one person and Satoshis idea is that such a thing is not possible. And why should I use Bitcoin 2.0 if Bitcoin 3.0 maybe comes on the market at any time and Bitcoin and Bitcoin 2.0 become worthless? Although I agree that the situation described in the OP is very unlikely to happen, I can't agree with the selected text. The difficulty of a POW coin depends on the amount of miners connected to the network. We can't say in advance how high or low it can be. Same goes for the price (of any coin, not only POW based). The price depends on demand and supply, and I personally doubt that the demand for that coin can be very high, especially in the very beginning.

Of course, I will definitely use it. For sure it will have the greatest features and almost all of the investors in the crypto world will support that especially big whales cause they know that it will be again unstoppable. If that is the case I hope I am updated if he really reveals himself.

I would say yes, and I will follow Satoshi because I think if he came out with Bitcoin 2.0, it means that the technology will better than bitcoin, and we should follow him because I am sure that he will gather all technology from bitcoin into new technology. But I don't know if that will happen or not because we cannot find where Satoshi lived and it still a big question for us.

Ain`t nobody making a utopic super coin with magical power, the coin is there it is called bitswift, with decentralized voting, fair distribution, basic income and file sharing. I think this whole Satoshi thing is irrelevant. Why should we care about him (let's suppose Satoshi is/was a 'he')? We got ten bloody years of experience a disappointing one.

Even if someone is able to sign in with the genesis address and asked to convert the coins to their upcoming new coin and promises a better technology, no one in the right sense will do that as the market has grown to a point that it cannot be replaced in a short period of time, if it was the early days with a few users then there would be a possibility but not anymore. 

What if Satoshi comes out and patents and copyrights his creation and ask for royalty from everyone who use them, then there will be a massive disruption  .

The market determines which version will be the go to project when it comes to crypto currencies and you really cannot compare ETH and ETH classic split with the hypothetical situation OP is talking about. The former split occurred because of the dictatorship method in which they forked the coin when a massive hack happened in the network and we all know the fate of ETC. The fact is that the market has grown beyond the scope of Satoshi and the better technology will always prevail.

This experiment was never about Satoshi Nakamoto, but rather the technology that was supposed to "replace" or "disrupt" the corrupt Banking system. Now Banks have started to use Satoshi's code against him, by creating their own "Blockchain" based coins.

If Satoshi created a new technology that could not be "pirated" by Banks and other financial institutions and if it was better than Bitcoin, then I would consider selling some of my coins to buy these new coins.  

I would still keep some BTC, because it is the most widely used coin at the moment.  

Personally, there will be no other technology that Satoshi will bring out that will be of a match to Bitcoin (Original Bitcoin). Remember someone claimed that, he was the Satoshi; and then fork Bitcoin without a good end, so, likewise if the Real Satoshi do, end in shackles. Lets understand that Satoshi created this technology for it to develop as time goes on, and also, remember that its an experiment and cannot be change from what it is to another new version so easily. If this happen, there will be a clear signal that the community is divided.

There's a chance that we'll understand some great fine tuning in the new coin settings only when it's already expensive.
If it's proven to be Satoshi (although the chance for such event is very very small), if he will make a new coin I'd probably put a way a couple of them, just to make sure I have my back covered. Then it depends how the ecosystem will adapt to the new coin, I may use it more or less than the actual Bitcoin.

First of all, I don't think the real Satoshi Nakamoto would ever do that. He (assuming that Satoshi is not a group of individuals) does not want to claim influence nor popularity that is he left just as Bitcoin is about to be known globally and I don't think he will be changing this character just for the sake of anything. Unlike many other cryptocurrency leaders of this generation, he is not very much motivated by greed but by that opportunity to contribute something that can make humanity much better.

Created by Satoshi or not, if it is a better version than the current bitcoin client, then I will support it. But if it does not have anything better to offer, just the name Satoshi attached to it, then no. The only way is to move forward. If there is something better than bitcoin then the community should support it.

I think bitcoin 2.0 will be the next series of bitcoin with better technology. Bitcoin itself will integrate with the new system, so it will make the whole system will work better than before. We need to follow the system and integrate with the new system so it will fix the problem from bitcoin in a better way.

I'd agree partly with your opinion but I don't think the analogy Ubuntu vs Mint is the right one. those Linux distros still use the core system of Linux, still use the same system/technologies. It will come up with different things if Linus Torvalds comes up with a brand new kernel.

We only know of bitcoin the one created by Satoshi Nakamoto, and BitcoinSatoshi(BSV) is nothing but controversy. It's just another shit coin like BitcoinCash. Yes I agree but, well sometimes you need to redo the infrastructure to recreate a better version of something. Take the Half life 1 engine to the half life 2 engine as a example. Sometimes it is better to knock a building down and rebuild it rather than just repair it to remake a new building. Sure you are reusing your blueprints as a stepping stone for the new build, but you are using new materials to rebuild it. 

Make it simple, if satoshi proved ownership and upgrade bitcoin version 2 then will it use it? My short answer is yes. Even you don't want to use but you will not able to use current version if really happen an upgrade by satoshi. I will not believe satoshi will create any other new coin instead of upgrade bitcoin chain. Whoever called satoshi themselves and creating new coin they are all faketoshi in my opinions. Your right, someone could gain access to those keys but they aren't Satoshi.  A lot of speculation about Dave being Satoshi and since he is dead someone may be able to find those keys someday.

I highly doubt Satoshi would do any such stupid things, provided we are considering real satoshi here! Otherwise it will just end up being similar to BSV, which obviously we don't want! So I would probably stay with the original bitcoin but will keep the door open for rethinking looking at the community. I alone would not take the decision! So it depends!

let`s say he created away to completely stop 51% attacks he added voting where each address that is verified could anyone get 1 vote something to stop spam and viewbots and fake voting numbers
he made a way to make the chain much smaller (it will be like bigger then my 500gb hard drive soon)
he made a "side chain" that redistributes tax to unique wallets which creates universal basic income
instead of waiting 10 minutes for a transaction you only have to wait 1 millisecond

If Satoshi would release another coin, I'm sure that it would be another potential coint that could bloom and reach a good value but that's too impossible for now. I guess Satoshi wouldn't show up with his identity just to launch another coin.

I believe even if he or she proves his identity as Satoshi, most people still would not prefer the new coin over Bitcoin. I think it is about adoption but it may reach #2 in the market if satoshi is really serious about that

As for me, there's no need for him to release Bitcoin 2.0 because Bitcoin is more than enough and is already playing a vital role in the community. No, because if he did launch another bitcoin, that means his intention isn't purely to help the oppressed anymore but to make money off of his believers. I don't believe that he'd do it anyway, because if he would, he already had in the past prior to the 2017 ATH. I'm good with what bitcoin is right now and I'm happy with the benefits it offers me. If I want to play with other coins I would, and if it's one of Satoshi's, I'd trade, but I would not blindly follow.

Most altcoins are shit-copies of BTC so it will not be better than it.

If Satoshi returns with better technology, it will add to BTC "as it will receive quick acceptance" but that does not mean the need to cancel or stop dealing with bitcoin, something like Ubuntu or mint.

Bitcoin gained its value because it was community driven ,not because it was made by Satoshi, so having some soatoshi coming out with a bitcoin 2.0 does not change my choice of which bitcoin to follow. The current bitcoin software is the most secure block chain to date ,it is the most robost and decentralized.No such thing as bitcoin 2.0, anything not the bitcoin we already know is an altcoin.

I won't, you know why? Satoshi is no longer the owner of bitcoin (he intentionally created the technology to evolve that way). We know he's the founder but gone are the days one individual have control over how a decentralized system is operated. Bitcoin have grown more than Satoshi and he/she/them knows that too. Whatever might be the technology with the bitcoin 2.0, one that existed initially will hold the value. The second version will be the one derived from the first one. Some user have mentioned it comparing to the ethereum classic, still ethereum leads the market. Ethereum classic gained good support just because of ethereum. Same will happen with bitcoin 2.0 as well.

Bitcoin 2.0 will it be a migration from the current bitcoin version to a more advanced one, if the evidences are clear and having the same key with exchange rate of 1 to 1 value then I will use it.
