If the stock market comes crashing down as some predict, what will you do with your alt coins? Swap them for BTC? I know that many view BTC as a safe haven (like digital gold) but historically, BTC prices have been positively correlated with the stock market. That said, in the case of an actual market crash, I think BTC could act like digital gold and appreciate since it's now more widely accepted as a "real thing" than ever... Perhaps just selling everything for USD and buying real gold would be best? What are your thoughts? TIA
My altcoins? It will go to BTC, even if I am a or not an altcoin investor.
I was leaning to stock trading back then, but then I found out that Bitcoin is far more convenient for me to trade without going out of my house anyway.
Not sure what you are saying that stock prices are positively correlated with BTC price though.
That correlation may occur when many investors from the stock market start moving their money into the bitcoin market. then there will be a decline in the stock market. due to the popularity of the crypto market in recent years gaining world markets.
I've never been to the stock market myself, so I can't compare which one is more comfortable.

If the stack market will crash like you have said, Investors in stocks will look for the best option of investment which is Naturally in cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin precisely. This means that investors in stocks will be moving their funds into bitcoin which will further boost its price so the option of selling everything and investing in Gold is not an option but this don't mean portion of the portfolio cant be invested in Gold too.

I have no idea what needs to happen for the stock market to crash. But if this happens, then the owners of cryptocurrencies will be very happy, since very large investments will come to our market!
Did you think of this: If the stock markets crash the money that was owned in those assets would be "lost". Therefore there will be no more money to enter a new market, in this example, into the crypto market. Hence your statement is incorrect.

I still dont understand why some people keep thinking of crypto markets and fiat markets to go against the movement of an economic crisis - they dont. Rather in case of a crisis they both drop. Sometimes we might see opposite trends but that applies more to fiat vs precious metal market. All in all, you cant compare the two to move opposite because the source of money is still from fiat and if one crashes, the other will panic and sell.

Also dont forget that crypto owners that can be classified as whales also own a lot of fiat market assets seperately.

Stock market? If the crashing down does not interfere with the crypto market, I will not do anything because I do not have a stock investment.

If the crash impact to the crypto market and bitcoin is crash, I will not sell my bitcoin instead of buying more bitcoin because that will be the best time for me to buy bitcoin and accumulate more bitcoin. If my altcoin is not crash, I will still hold it and not sell because I think some altcoin will increase if bitcoin is down.
I do not think that crypto market and stock market are that much independent from each other. I do not know if it will be opposites or parallel but I know that it will definitely be related somehow. Think about it this way, we may have stocks going down and crypto going up, or we may have stocks going down and crypto going down with it. Those are two very different things. If the stock market crashes and the crypto world crashes with it?

I will definitely buy a lot more crypto, I keep saying this but then when I want to I keep not finding any money to buy, but if I can somehow gather some funds I will buy a lot, because it will recover and I know it. If the stocks go down but crypto goes up? In that case I have to do nothing, I already have a decent portfolio and I will keep that and that's it, I will not do anything else about it to be frank because I will be profiting so what else to do?
If both the stock market crashes and the crypto market also crashes, that will be the best time to buy crypto, but I do not buy the stock market because I will need more money to buy any stock on the market. I prefer to buy crypto than stock because I do not know much about the stock market, but I have experience in crypto to help me make money from crypto.

After the crypto recovers from the crash, that will be our time to make a profit and buy the other coins at the market. We can repeat the process because, in the crypto market, we have hundreds of projects that can increase anytime. But it will not be easy to detect which project can rise in the near.

Stock market crash is very rare case and happens if the economy of the nation tumbles or there is scam at huge level in stock market whereas market crash is more common in cryptomarket as we have seen in 2017.So its advisable to invest some portion in stock market if you have knowledge and are interested in investing in it.Its less risky and have some tax benefits also which in turn provides capital guarantee and profits. But hold btc for your future as the other main option of investment.

You know people can panic in an unusual manner, ideally if the stock market start to go down people are suppose to find solace in btc but for some wired reason you will see even the price of btc going down because some panic sellers will rather sell off,
so it is better to have it 50 - 50% or 70 -30% on stabecoin and btc depending on your preference, and if you hodl alts at this time, you don't need to be told what to do Wink

You don't just switch to BTC when crypto markets fail, you of course as a trader just want to preserve wealth (and that's always in US dollar, sorry crypto traders but it's true isn't it).

If you're a crypto HOLDER then no question you always hodl BTC when times are turbulent. And you wait for the storm to die before venturing out again.

Nope, I dont convert it into btc. I do have three choices with my altcoins;

- Hold still and wait for the pump market,
- Convert into USD or any stable coin like Tether
- Sell off before it will go bearish

There are so many strategies when market started to become unpredictable. But it is always your own choice which one you think is the best for your investments.

But if we know how and smart enough, I believe that our wealth will always increase.
If you sell your bitcoins then only you will see the increase in wealth. It is still not the time that bitcoin is being used everywhere as day to day currency.

Each person will have their own views for holding assets during win-win if the stock market collapses or, more frankly, the economic crisis at its worst. Btc and USD are good, personally I will keep both because I believe and my time in this market shows me that no matter how volatile the market is, I still make a profit.
Talking about market collapse to that extent seems more of a world-ending conspiracy theory and therefore very less likely to happen. What we saw, the pandemic happen and that had its effect on economies and even bitcoin. The current bitcoin price is a different cause though.

Still when a disaster happens, the formal currency will remain fiat. Because with the lack of common resources, electricity will be lost and thus bitcoin will not be accessible. Each of fiat and crypto have their own pros and cons. You have to be diligent and not for the bulltraps set by whales that this is the next big thing, because none are.

In your opinion, which is the best hiding place for your money, I always think of places that are supposed to be safe to keep assets or a fundamentals channel for myself. But looking at them, there will be no safe place, we need to adapt to change more and make choices at the right time, no one will predict that BTC and USD are safe. But if we know how and smart enough, I believe that our wealth will always increase.

yea, in general one would think that BTC is safe heaven when traditional markets are in trouble. But one year ago we had the corona market crash which extended into crypto currencies so it is not absolute. it could be better to be in cash.

The correct statement is that with a rapid fall in the stock market, cryptocurrencies will also fall very quickly, as many will go into cash. As far as I remember, since Bitcoin appeared, there has not been a protracted fall in the stock market, so we do not yet know what will actually happen.

That's right, and everyone will always make good decisions from the perspective they already have, because as everyone knows Bitcoin and USD are always good to hold, hold for a long time, and can also be good to trade, so obviously not it would be wrong to choose both.
If you do not see a problem in the two options, it only proves that you are not watching the market too much because a rift comes from one investment market, it can still create a coupling effect with other markets when the state of the market is the economic and psychological reflection coming from the market. Simply put, the stock market crash has proven investment is not favorable, stocks are losing value, bitcoin will be implicated, investors will soon convert their assets to more stable values such as USD

The question is , Do you have other option ? or you mean withdrawing your Crypto to convert in Fiat again?

Even Bitcoin is correlated to Stocks yet the only chance to survive is to convert all your altcoin to BTC and remain holding for longer time now.

Yeah, I think personally I will switch to BTC only if the stock market crashes. You are correct that there are still correlations between the two market, and mostly when stock goes down, bitcoin at least goes up.

I think the simply explanation is that stock investors are shifting to bitcoin because it is one of the safest haven for now. We have seen this in the past, so I wouldn't be surprise that it will happen again, in case stocks plummeted again.

I've been seeing a lot of people migrate from stocks market to cryptocurrencies already. I'm just talking about retail traders that owns a significant amount of money. Who knows how many more are there (including institutions) cutting losses from their stocks and switching to BTC. Crypto is still on a bullrun.

Perhaps just selling everything for USD and buying real gold would be best? What are your thoughts? TIA
A guy named Peter would love to hear this Grin Seriously though, it's your choice.

I think that if it weren't for BTC, Gold's price would have skyrocketed by now.

try to convert your USDT to BTC when the price is low, and convert your BTC to USDT if there is a possibility to crash, of course we can't tell exactly when it's going to happen, some exchange has to stop-loss features where in your coin will be sold if the specific price lower than the original is reach correct me if I'm wrong, lots of experience traders are doing it.

Supporting and trusting Bitcoin is an option that I fully accept even though I don't know what the future holds. But with my experience in this market, I will be aware enough to know when it is time to sell Bitcoin, investment is more important than profit and profit here we have to convert into real life and USD is still the means to help us do that.

If the stock market comes crashing down as some predict,
Firstly the stock markets are regulated by some organizations and you would not see a crashing unless a diasater of the entire planet occurs, this pandemic is much less in its impact.

You still havent sold your altcoins for BTC? This was the time to sell them at profit though. No one know when you will see 60k+ USD/BTC again.

These two do not have a proven connection. The correlation data is anecdotal and often biased from person to person. Precious metals, stock, crypto all seem to move in different directions depending on the situation.

Bitcoin is not widely accepted yet. Most countries where it is accepted, good for them but there are several more where it is either illegal or a grey area. This will change with time but the concept of digital gold is a wrong one and more of an apples and oranges comparison.

Both gold and bitcoin have their pros and cons. Dividing money among both would be an intelligent approach. Bitcoin bulls want you to sell your gold to buy bitcoin so they can sell. Dont fall for that trap.

Just diversify it to decrease the risk, I would personally convert my stocks portfolio to cryptos distributed among top coins that has highest market cap.
and tbh, even if the stock market really crashes there's a good chance that my altcoins not gonna get affected, I've seen many coins that's still going up despite BTC bearish market back in the past.
But big share of my money gonna go to BTC of course, even if it's dumping somehow because of stock market it will certainly go back up again.

IMO if it should be both, this time bitcoin is facing another correction and i think that a stable coin is the best solution for this trend. that's why keeping both bitcoin and stable coins would become the best choice. I have swapped 80% of my altcoins into stable coins and im only holding bitcoin as my reserved coins and at the same time to be my long term investment.
You should at least keep a small portion of stable coin or USD.

Chances are,i will definitely turn to BTC for profit after the profit is enough I will switch to USD and buy real gold, as my real asset, partly, the rest I will stay in crypto and fight for profit again in bitcoin and other coins.

Just make sure that you know which works for you the best. In my opinion, it will work best if I'll have more bitcoin than the altcoins that I have. But I don't think that I'll sell some of the altcoins on my stash if there's no need to. Yes, we've seen the correlation of stocks to the bitcoin market and which finally affects the whole crypto market. I'll be on both market, bitcoin and alts and have it stay there and would only get into fiat if I need money.

USD is having a war with China Yuan, these two are having a hard time dealing with each other. I saw someones post comparing things he can buy with 100 bucks 10 years and in the current year. It's value is getting low, so better invest in Bitcoins. Gold have low volatility and you will be waiting years to gain profits. I also read a blogger were in Congo they found massive mountain of gold, so much it will be enough to power ip the country.

I’m thinking about the correlation of Altcoins to stock market, and since I’m investing on both market I can say that I’ll stay with my strategy even if the stocks are crashing, I do play long term with stocks so it doesn’t matter for me. Hold bitcoin and good altcoins, this market can be a safe haven if there’s a market crash again and never put all your assets into one basket, so I don’t suggest to sell and go all in.

if you dare to take a risk then I suggest you switch to BTC, because I believe if BTC is still popular and even more popular than today, then of course the price will definitely increase very high and even BTC can replace the position of gold, so people would prefer to invest in BTC rather than in gold, because BTC is a better investment than gold (the price of BTC is increasing faster than the price of gold), so investing in BTC will get a bigger profit than investing in gold.

There is difference between crash and crisis and we are not going to face the economical crisis soon because we just met the crisis an year ago so this time if the prices start to crash you have lot of choices like converting the stocks into fiat or BTC then buy the stocks back at the bottom so you can sell them later for more profits but in general there is no correlation with the stock market and crypto market.

A balanced portfolio is advisable but I would always recommend a high exposure to bitcoin. It is the best performing asset this century & it’s going from strength to strength.

So you'd keep your alt coin positions during a stock market crash?
