Are all cryptocurrencies plummeting or only Bitcoin? Cryptographic currency tends to move in one direction. Are they not as closely related as they used to be?

Having some similar thoughts about the altcoins and bitcoin relationship. However have guys noticed that there was time when bitcoin use to go up and then rest of crypto coins used to go down in the market value. This relation was explained with inverse proportionality of the bitcoin and altcoins. This is because whenever there was news that bitcoin will be hard pump soon then people used to sell out their altcoins and buy more and more bitcoin Thus it lowered the value of alts and increase the value of bitcoin and this all was natural. Now a days, whenever bitcoin grows then alts spike too and vice versa. Not sure what is causing the altered relation.

If Bitcoin has a big shock, it will usually have a knock-on effect. If bitcoin drops by 90%, it is very likely that other cryptocurrencies will follow. The real test is which cryptocurrency can survive the plunge in prices, just as Amazon, eBay, and Priceline survived the burst of the Internet bubble.

Well mostly for now all alts react to btc's movements. And they will probably do so for a while but it's not going to be forever. Alts that have their own platforms like etherium can very well stand on itself. Though of course the initial effect of a bitcoin crash would definitely devastate the entire market
