I think this just can afect btc to a rise up, not a dump. Anyone will dump your btc cause etf fail.

What has the ETF to do with Coinbase or any other exchange whatsoever? stop worrying about the ETF and worry about your own bitcoins. You shouldn't be holding any bitcoins in any exchange anyway, so put your bitcoins inside a local wallet and stop worrying.

Once this ETF decision comes public, the Stock guys have their sell price veiling and floors. With the volatility of BTC, these BTC sell orders within the BTC online exchanges will all be wanting to be executed at once. Can the small upcoming BTC exchanges handle that volume when that happens, Or will thousands of stock speculators find that their holdings in online BTC are up in limbo. .It seems that exchanges cant cash cover the sell orders, possibly even other smaller online exchanges.   http://www.coindesk.com/coinbase-just-stopped-serving-bitcoin-hawaii/
Well I guess exchanges won't fail even if ETF gets approved or not since they earn money with every trade and those exchanges are only like midmans or escrows which hold funds for users and transfers them to another when an order is being fulfilled so I see no problem here. Also, how is the link you mentioned OP related to ETF at all? I guess coinbase stopped serving bitcoin users in hawaii it is because of some law there that bans bitcoin.

From all I know that ETF decision is for the entire US.
The regulation mentioned in the article is just for Hawaii.. so I can not see any connection there either.
Maybe Hawaii is amongst the first states who make that regulation and otheres will follow, but I don't think it's connected to the ETF.

i can't see how coinbase will fail if bitcoin will be dumped because of EFT, coinbase it's a big exchange that will not fail because the price is dumped for another bad news, bitcoin had many dump in the past and hacking and coinbase was always there stronger than ever

whether ETF passes or fails, bitcoin price will become volatile. exactly like the other 10 million times it became volatile and just like all those previous times, some of the exchanges can not handle all the traffic they get because of so many buys and sells so they go down shortly. and then just like the other 10 million times before, price will come back to normal state and continues rising slowly and the traffic on exchanges reduce so they come back online.

so what is your point?

The situation you describe won`t happen.Even if there are lots of sell orders within the btc exchanges, most of the buyers will wait for a lower price and might refuse to buy.
There is no obligation for the online exchange platforms to cover all the sell orders.

Coinbase and other large exchanges wont fall nor take a hit in the least if the ETF fails, I personally think that all this hype due to the prices going so high due to the insane amount of people that are going to want to buy and sell are just an insane amount of bullshit spewed by people who want to make a quick buck off people. The large sell off or buy isn't going to occur, demand will just increase and the price may go up a bit and go down a bit.

All I see is the price coming to some sort of stabilization in some time after the ETF is approved, IF IT IS APPROVED. These exchanges have such a hold on all of the purchases that I just don't think they'd fall even during a high amount of selling and not enough buying to support it.

Etf and coinbase have a lot of difference.

In my mind, btc can up with etf, but etf cant make btc fall

Tough wording but I'll agree with you partly, the ETF won't make BTC fall in the least it just won't happen even if some random dudes on the internet attempted to make people think this.
I am optimistic ETF cannot make bitcoin fail because of the fundamental nature of crypto currencies. Bitcoin in the first place was not created a property such as digital gold and silver but as a currencies, money and cash. Treating bitcoin a property or stocks will undermined it value. So either it has ETF approval or not bitcoin, coinbase has come to stay.

Yes the recent rally seems to be a continuation of the rally we had at the end of the year, so I don't see a connection with the ETF decision, if the decision is against I don't see any huge effect on the price of bitcoin but if it is positive I think the price could reach up to 1400 in a matter of days.

I guess don't be panic about the ETF decision. but approve or not bitcoin still on the right way. the bullish trend will always be appearing every time. I've heard a lot of the financial institutions are trying to adopt the blockchain system. Although it will not give the direct effect to bitcoin but it seems like the future of the automation. I just understand a little word of your sentence.

Can you explain how that link you posted is linked to ETF exactly? This problem is with Hawaiian law specifically.
We have another piece of stupid anti-bitcoin law being pushed in. It is ridiculous to force exchanges to hold cash reserves.
In theory it might seem like good way to secure customers deposits and add additional layer of protection, but in reality it will cause bitcoin exchanges to close.
Even gargantuan exchanges like Coinbase can't keep up with this new law then I guess our only answer here will be switching to p2p trading platforms.
