Gemini if you are into innovation.

I hard some great stories about Circle. But if you prefer a real 'Exchange' you should probably go with Gemini and/or coinbase.
In that particular order..

I would recommend Coinbase, but would also take a look at circle .

For someone living in the USA the best exchange option to tie to a bank account is definitly Coinbase or Circle. Both of them work great.

I use Gemini and really like it. I think Coinbase is a bit overbearing so I choose not to use them.

Coinbase or Gemini by the Winklevoss Twins. I have purchased +$500 (U.S.D) from Coinbase and wouldn't hesitate to purchase from Gemini Exchange or Coinbase. I 100% trust these businesses but prefer to keep the coins I purchase in my own wallet.

I'd like to chime in and, with reservations, also suggest Coinbase.  I had no trouble whatsoever buying and selling for months until once when I tried to buy something like $3 worth of bitcoin using a bank account that I had closed and forgotten to delete from my Coinbase account.  I don't think there was actually any money at risk for them, and it was my stupid mistake, but they closed my account with no questions and no chance to appeal.  I was kind of disappointed, because I liked their service a lot.

So good luck if you do use Coinbase but be careful.  They watch what you're doing with your btc and they'll close your account without hesitation.

:-) Thanks for the heads up! I just actually got setup with coinbase waiting for bank verification. Yeah the only thing I'll be doing with my bitcoin from them is spending here in the marketplace...lol So they can watch all they want :-)
Excellent, good luck with them.  As I said, when things were working it was a great exchange to use other than having to wait a few days for the bitcoin to arrive.  Sales were pretty quick.  I'd suggest that you move whatever bitcoin you buy into your personal wallet ASAP.  Everyone's going to give you that advice--exchanges have turned out to be really bad places to store bitcoin.  Cry

I have had no difficulty with Coinbase or Circle.

I signed up with Gemini but refuse to trade there after they reversed legitimate trades due to "customer error":

How about Circle? Last I checked they are similar to Coinbase.

I prefer circle. The instant buy limits are higher and are raised faster.

I don't like waiting 2-3 days for my btc.

If you live in a state that you can use the coinbase USD wallet in then I would suggest using coinbase, as you can deposit and withdraw money from/to your bank account for free, and can trade for 0.25% if you take liquidity from the order book and 0.00% if you add to the order book. If you do not live in one of the above-linked states then I would still suggest coinbase, however it would not quite be as competitive.

Otherwise I would suggest genmi although there is not very much liquidity there.

I would like to know the answer to a different question, what's the best exchange outside the US? I know Coinbase has some countries already supported. And to buy BTC I guess there are a lot but to sell them for fiat it's a lot more complicated.

I have had no trouble with Coinbase for several thousands of dollars of purchases so far.
Thanks they were on my short list too. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something better :-)
OP should look no further because coinbase is an old company in this business and they have gained a lot of reputations.
