I will avoid those that recently got pumped for now and look for a coin that has an active developer but yet to be pumped hard.  I will aim for short term profit then when bull trend is over, will shift for a long term investment.   This way I am able to multiply that $25k and have a bigger fund for a long term investment.

Which one would it be and why ?
I do see there are multiple mistook approach in your questions:

1. For $25k investments, if you look into altcoins alone then definitely you are going to miss out something is proven over the decade of time and known for definite and consistent returns for every four years. Yes, you must include bitcoin as well into your consideration and more importantly in major portion.

2. For $25k investments, you must look for at least 10 different coins and definitely no just 1 or 2 altcoins only.

Including bitcoin in your portfolio will definitely get you the power of diversification but again if your considering more than one altcoins, your risk will get spread out and you will be getting a completely diversified portfolio which will be having 99% guarantee to get you big profits.

I've done this, from January-March, and I chose Smartlands (SLT).  So far, the right decision to have made!

The reason being that they have managed to position themselves, after a few years of pilot runs and concept development, into a platform (run on the world-class Stellar network) that is about to capitalize big time on the asset tokenization push that will be the next gold rush in crypto.

Few dot points:

1) Tokenomics are incredible - 7mil supply (5mil in circulation); $80mil market cap currently; revenue sharing for all listing and transaction fees with holders - 33% of revenue will be shared to holders with more than 1,000 euros worth; this revenue sharing is going to be bought on market and then distributed as SLT.

2) Real estate is their first focus, but they are developing a protocol that can handle any kind of asset tokenisation and are soon moving into SME funding, debt trading, agricultural supplies (with a partner startup called Agroxy - that will build their own platform... yet transactions fees still part of revenue sharing for SLT) etc.

3) Currently under 4,000 holders have more than 10 SLT (around $150 right now)... this is early, early days.

4) They are in negotiations with at least one Tier-1 exchange and have said they are talking with multiple exchanges... it's only been available on the Stellar DEX and Whitebit exchange until now, but more coming in the near future.

5) Just confirmed that they will launch their platform in APRIL - that's well ahead of many others in the space and big moves will be made in the next few weeks.

They've just started their marketing - before yesterday, they weren't marketing really AT ALL; which to me shows they are a serious outfit interested in product and platform first, not hollow hype.  Marketing has now started just 12hrs ago... this is going to be put on blast this week:

SLT is a long-term hold for me that will generate passive income, it's literally the best alt coin I've ever come across in four years of searching... and I'm going in big!

I think I'm gonna spread it on new projects like 7 to 10 projects and Allot USD based on the strenght of that project. It cna be a blue chip or major coin but of course I will be basing on tokenomics, market cap and even the use case and usefulness of the platform. Its hard to scattered a 25k usd to few coins but I rather spend it to more so we can be sure that whether we pick a not so good one there are other options and choices for us to watch.

I will buy BNB, BNB has Exchange and almost every exchange in the world has BNB coins, these coins are very cheap and very expensive now, people have made a lot of money when they buy them at low prices

Looks like people still have a lot of money left, the market is showing its mother charm right now. Looking back at the whole market from the beginning of the strong growth from bitcoin, I always believe that altcoins will benefit greatly when we start with the altcoin season, I believe that the major foundation currencies in the market. This field will have strong growth in the near future, with me ETH, BNB, DOT is the top priority option.

Deviding it into 4 or 5 altcoins. Some of the picks include:
- BNB: Yes it increased a lot in last 2, 3 months but it's backed up by the largest exchange in cryptocurrency world. Binance Smart Chain ecosystem is being developed to compete with ERC-20 ecosystem. I see a bright future for BNB.
- CAKE: Everything true with BNB holds true with CAKE. Simply put, CAKE is the DeFi version of BNB.
- Solala: If you missed Polkadot then keep track on Solana. The DOT ecosystem also exponentially grew lately and it seems like investors need another new platform to put their money into. Solana is a well built ecosytem and growing rapidly.
- NEAR: NEAR is also an interesting platform. The important thing with this blockchain is that it was invested by Coinbase Ventures. It won't be surprise if NEAR got listed on Coinbase some day.
- AION: It's a little risky with this option. ATH of AION is over USD 11 but its current price is only around USD 0.3. No need it to repeat ATH, just increase by multiple times current price is a juicy investment.
