Buy The F*cking Dip

They have this same issue in verifying IDs months ago. My friend had a hard time dealing with them and just gave up with it. I don't what he's using right now to buy BTC but I'm definitely sure not this one. To top it off, they have huge fees when you are trying to withdraw YOUR money/BTC from them. Include the tax that uncle sam will deduct and your withdrawing amount will be almost half. Sorry if I can't provide you an alternative solution but it is better for you to look for it. It's just a waste of time communicating with them. They are busy in getting more customers but their is very minimal in terms of number.

coinbase is a very strict exchanger with a very huge fees. You should've verified your account on the first place before any transactions. well, I wish support would be on its way so you can get back your money. me too I got btc stuck in there, goodluck to everyone!

I had to wait 3 days to withdraw a larger amount of ETH.
Supposedly performing Photo ID should have reduced the waiting time, but it didn't work since the ID wasn't recognized.
I already sent them my scanned ID, why do I have to provide it again before the selfie?

i had a new account a couple months ago and i think they have now integrated both processes into one. i had to provide driver's license and selfie at the same time. what they should do is stop offering the pc webcam option at all, because it works for absolutely no one. you need a high res camera, so you need to use the mobile app.

They responded to my support ticket, that the photo ID verification cannot be done using the mobile app.
I tried using chrome on my mobile phone and use the smartphone cam,but I was only able to use the cam on the display side,
which is awkward (put my smartphone on the table, held the passport over the cam, no success...).
They should really look into fixing this.

very strange. that's not what they told me when i had trouble verifying ID in august. are you sure they told you specifically that you can't use the mobile app? because they still have this up on their website. the article was updated just a month ago:

Quote
Most ID verifications must be completed either through the Coinbase website or the mobile app. We are not able to accept emailed copies of ID for verification purposes.

further down the page, they also say this:

Quote
You will be prompted to select an ID type, and then an upload method. To complete this step you may either use a webcam or you can choose to receive a text message to upload the images via mobile device by selecting the "Mobile Camera" option.

unfortunately, their customer support takes forever to deal with anything, so i'd play around with the options in the mobile app or the mobile version of the website...

I can tell you that Coinbase is probably the strictest exchange/wallet service out there, even till the extent of them being far too paranoid. In some cases people may be able to get past this ID verification 'error' by making sure the scans are in the highest possible resolution. I know that there are various exchanges who were really demanding ultra high res scans, and for that reason kept rejecting the according to them lower resolution scans. It's a pretty annoying situation to go through, but try look into the scan setting to see if you have the option to max out everything.

gemini is even stricter. they wouldn't accept my government-issued ID at all. apparently, if you are a US resident, you must have "REAL ID-compliant" identification. apparently, california driver's licenses aren't good enough, so if you live in a state that doesn't comply with REAL ID, then you need to get a new passport.

Is YoBit that bad? That worst I've heard about them is that the wallets are always under maintenance.

Should have expected this.

Coinbase right now definitely have one of the worst track records in terms of user experience and customer support - in fact, i'd say that it is close to yobit level. The director of coinbase says that they'll be diverting their attention to customer support in Q3 and yet in Q4, there are no improvements.

Unless you're willing to lose what you put in, don't use them.

It's hard to trust exchanges which have shady and cumbersome ways of being contacted. It's just clearly and plainly suspicious when nobody can be reached. They are custodians of money, just like a bank, so they should have people who can be reached at all times. If (like the case above and many others) there are issues that need to be resolved, how can one do this if they intentionally make it difficult for them to be reached.

Say what you like but it is really bad when one needs to turn to their facebook page to get in touch with them. Good companies with trustworthy corporate ethics have phone numbers answered by real people who can resolve issues when needed.

Using an exchange's service is about enjoying those services and not being inconvenienced or stressed up. After all, one signs up for an account to enjoy what they openly and unashamedly advertise on their homepage: Coinbase is the world's most popular bitcoin, ethereum, and litecoin wallet. We make it easy to securely buy, use, store, and accept bitcoin, ethereum, and litecoin.

Worst piece of sh*t website ever, zero customer support.

Just bought some btc with my cc to buy some alts, tried to send the btc to an external wallet and the transaction is blocked and is "waiting for clearing" because I'm supposed to confirm my id, so I try to send them the photos of my id card but their awful software doesn't work and says that my id card can't be read, it has never worked before and it still doesn't work after four months since the first time I tried to send them the photos of my id card to confirm my id and had to finally use the mobile option that for some reason did work and it's not an option now to unblock my transaction. I've read that lots of people have had the same problem with their id recognition software, but they just don't bother to fix it.

Tried to write them and all I get is an automated message telling me how to send btc to external wallets, that's it, nobody has read my emails and they tell me a proper replay could take days or weeks, that's if the automated message is not everything they are willing to do to solve my problem, so I just have my btc/money stock in their wallet and can't do anything about it.

I don't understand how this website and Kraken can be the leaders of this market, cryptos will never be mainstream with this kind of sh*tty service.
