Pretty tech savy so I know what I'm doing around computers, however...I've been running guiminer it's getting 55 khash/s

Ok I know that's really slow, but I've done my research and I've seen people get something off that speed, I've got literally nothing

Been running guiminer for a good 5 hours now

Anyone got any help? Tips on how to increase speed?

You're probably better off looking for pennies to pick up off the street...  However, if you are doing it for the learning experience then keep doing what you do.

This is not going to work if at all you should be mining LTC not bitcoin. However, you should get some better gpus or asics.
Good luck,

Here is my advice:
55kh/s on BitCoin is simply unprofitable. Stop mining. Either get some real mining equipment or suffer your electricity bills. For Bitcoin, you need at least a GH/s, which is about 20x your speed.

I don't pay the electricity bills the computer is based outside my house within another building, so that's not a problem for me, I just realised that I was getting connection problem from console summery, will uninstall my gpu and install again

Even if you don't pay electricity bills, 55kh/s on SHA-256 earns you BTC0.00000198 per month, which equals to 0.001235 USD.
I have no idea why you are even mining. That is not profit, that is less than dust.
