..it seems to be a fuuny game created by theymos this april..those who contributed to that events gave much fun for many members of the foums,,but for those who take KYC seriously,,you fooled!!..but don't worry,,all of those information you've entered are not save in the database of this forum,,but if there comes a time that KYC is required on this forum,,I don't think that this will be accepted by many members to comply the said KYC..for sure many would object!.

this KYC requirement is a joke, they didnt ask us for our private bitcoin keys so why we should trust them? Tongue

yes it was a joke due to the april fools celebration but did you have read what op said on the first post ?  he said that he dont care about the april fools because kyc is still a bad thing and he hates it alot   . i am with the op because i myself dont also like kyc because i dont want to expose my identity to someone else and the main reason why crypto is built is because the creator satoshi nakamoto wants a payment method that is fully private  . so whats the point of kyc  ?  op is right  . the  old days are better when there are no so called kyc's  . same as the old days of this forum  -_ -

Theymos is the moderator who controls this forum, for security and order of this forum, he is free to make decisions, and I think this forum KYC is free. if this KYC forum makes your identity opened, it's better if you don't do KYC.

one of the purposes of the KYC forum is to find out our status here, investors, bounty hunters, or others.

I think you exaggerate a lot
It is just a joke no more and I do not think the management of the forum will fall into this big mistake

Looks like you don’t used to hear some jokes like this but yes there’s a possible chance for the KYC on this forum and we can’t control that one since we are just here to learn and to make money as well so don’t expect to earn an easy money without following the rules. For sure the team know what is the best for their forum.

Yes, KYC is an issue for every crypto enthusiasts but we don't have many things to do regarding this.
The way crypto is moving forward, it is no doubt that someday in future we will not be able to do anything without KYC.
We will not be able to liquidate our cryptos via any online exchanges except we sell it to someone locally... which will be total underground.

Can’t believe so many people fell for theymos’s joke. People have actually been providing real photos & sensitive info in there too.
In this era, we still have so many fool peoples who are unknowingly fooling themselves on a fool day. They don't mind to do any inquiry before doing anything online.

Keep in mind KYC is NOT for bitcoin. YOU are required to do KYC/AML because YOU want dollars. If your plan is a lifetime of switching your money back and forth, then you will always be doing this.

I never risk my identity and the people I buy stuff from don't really know that it was me who paid.

It's not too much, they aren't even asking for blood samples.

Wink What day is today again? Smiley

No KYC that will ask the customers to carryout the blood simple because of their KYC. Basically, today is April fool and Theymos fooled the forum members by introducing KYC. Bitcoin talk forum was a project without KYC and will not deviate from project roadmap.

I get where you're coming from, as humorous as this fake KYC was, online anonymity is on it's way to die with all the recent regulations and whatnot.
It always has been and more so with giant companies wanting your identity and a customer profile of you. Just fight it with Tor and a vpn.

There are always ways to hide your identity and keep the privacy when that is needed and if that is so important to you. But there are situations and services where KYC is needed too and where it actually servs for your protection. I guess it's important to find the right balance between privacy and legal obligations and protection.

I have watched this forum for years but today is the first time I register, and I was hit with KYC! I was shocked at first, then enraged, then laughed when I see this post.

It's a nasty joke but it can be dangerous. If someone falls for it and enter real information, and if it falls into bad hands, it can cause damage to the person. I hope nobody fell for it.

Cheers

It is a reality as most of the exchanges ask for KYC. But I don't think that it will ever be implemented here in Bitcointalk. One of the major concerns Satoshi had in his mind while introducing Bitcoin was the anonymity of the users. And I believe this forum has to follow the rules set by Satoshi.

Forums like this won't ask for such information but for exchanges, i think it's quite necessary. Anyways, there's nothing we can do if they require it. We know bitcointalk is very trusted but I want to still hidden my information for other security purposes. Maybe the other people won't agree to the KYC and the other will agree. Because KYC have good benefits but alsothey bad effects to us but the  purposes of KYC is a lot  to avoid scamming, multi account and anything.

The funny thing is a lot of people nowadays gets easily offended by really obvious pranks just like this one in the forum. They couldn't even accept the fact that its April Fools' Day, that even if you have written fake ass info in the KYC page it will still be "accepted" by theymos as verified. They always see the negative in something and try to fight for it even if theymos didn't mean to offend anyone on his prank.

Oh and don't worry about the KYCs you are seeing right now as because most of them are requiring KYCs due to the government's order. What you need to worry about more are sites asking for KYC that don't even have a legal bakground behind their operations.

The forum administrators deem it fit to introduce KYC in order to know more about the forum users which to me is ideal. Almost all the forum members are scare of the new revolution initiated by forum Administrator, Theymos. Maybe they have spot out some illicit transactions among the forum members which warrant them to implement KYC in order to protect it users. For those who can't cope, then you are "fooled by April Fool."

I agree with your opinion. We have the right to keep our identity anonymous, especially in the Cryptocurrency world. But I still believe that KYC will soon be one of the mandatory requirements that everyone is required to participate in this forum.

Nonsense - KYC is a process of collecting data to avoid misuse of services, mainly used in financial institutions. You will never need KYC verification to participate in a forum.

Wink What day is today again? Smiley

Nothing is ever too much. After completing the verification process, I've also mailed Theymos a vial of blood, as well as urine and stool samples and a USB containing a video of me stripping down to show all my birthmarks and moles.

Let's hope this is a joke to the moderators of this forum on April 1. Theymos, most likely made a joke. If you open the forum for KYC, you will see that some questions are very strange, for example the blood group. If this KYC was needed, we could not write on the forum until it was completed.

i am wondering if there has been anyone who actually submitted stuff in that form thinking it is real Cheesy
i think there is no way of knowing it because the forum is not storing any of that data and just redirects to a new page linking to the trolling page for selfie submissions.

It's funny to see how everyone is totally terrified with KYC.

From what I see from your profile, you also didn't comply yet. Please make sure you pass the extra verification. Without that you are not really in the position to talk about this matter.

@OP: I suggest you start with this thread after you finished the morning coffee.

I think now there are so many rules at BitCointalk, and what are the benefits of KYC now, this will also make it difficult for beginners who want to learn more about the world of cryptocurrency at BitCointalk.

It's funny to see how everyone is totally terrified with KYC. Like someone is asking their blood or organs. They justify refusing KYC with their privacy and on the other hand they reveal everything and even more on social networks.
Anyway, wheteher is this a serious request or just april joke, I don't have anything against it.

It's not too much, they aren't even asking for blood samples.

Wink What day is today again? Smiley

Might want to look at the calendar before you get too upset.

This is a joke that may become reality very soon
What? Lmao. The whole point of the cryptocurrency market and this forum is the anonymity factor contributing to decentralization which is something that Theymos will never go against. Chill out and enjoy the joke!

April fools? Don't care, KYC is still an issue and this may soon become reality

I think theymos would not actually put a real KYC here in this forum so there's no need to fear.

yeah, its April fool. Take it easy. It seems you are taking it very seriously. Theymos is not a dumb guy he is not going to ask for KYC to users. However, if he does he know bitcointalk will lose their users. Joke is limited for fun.

Today it's a joke

Tomorrow is reality

Then you're cattle branded with a microchip

"Cattle branded with Microchip"

This was mostly science fiction at a time but is fast becoming a reaity. Corporations in their bid for profit and optimum use of "Human Resources" are going to apply these methods.
I once watched a Microsoft executive present their IoT solution for monitoring workforce and using Data Analytics on them. The idea was supposed to be implemented on the workforce in a huge container handling port. The proposed solution involved every worker wearing this radio-tag that would monitor and record their movements and upload coordinate data of every worker to a central server.

A manager could then analyse the data to determine work patterns of their crew by seeing how many and who deviated from the norm. The system would feed continuous coordinated of the crew. Voila..Forget about coffee breaks or going behind a container to smoke a few cigarettes with your fellows to relax..

The thing is that Govts and corporations are always looking for ways and means to ensure that the working class and middle class keep working their asses off for the elites. Banking regulations, Biometric records are just the beginning. Owning money that has inherent value and not because the Govt says it is the first step of ensuring that the masses always have a chance to fight back.

That is why we Bitcoin. Do You Bitcoin? Cool

There will be a day they will ask you to put a microchip under the skin if you don't stand up against the modern nanny state

I prioritize my privacy above this forum

And this is not because I am a criminal, but because I want to decide who has my personal details not be forced to give them

I miss the days BTC was truly a free market for everyone involved in it

April fools? Don't care, KYC is still an issue and this may soon become reality
