Recently I have earned my 1000th merit, which means my Legendary rank, which was achieved a long time ago, is now fully deserved. Thank you all, my dear Bitcointalkers!
At first i congrats you, because it's not easy to grow to this length here, and it's well known that legendary rank is the highest position in this community and any one that reached such have to be excited irrespective when he or her  join the community weather before adoption of merit system or not, i will be glad to celebrate this position one day, once again i applaud you to get to this level and any who is celebrating for new rank or achievement for the community recently.

Yes, I was a Hero before merit system was introduced. But if I started as a newbie, I would become Legendary today. I agree that starting as a Hero would certainly give an edge over starting as a newbie, but still earning 1000 merits is something that I wanted to celebrate.
Then you didn't technically become a self made Legendary then because you have an edge already but if we were basing on the merits you have earned, you can probably call it that way. Also, I don't like the idea of calling yourself self made because if it weren't for the merits of the other users, you won't be where you are.

Congrats on your achievement. Earning 1000 merits isn't an easy task, even it's impossible for non-contributors. But for good-minded people who want to contribute to the forum, it's quite easy to achieve this position. Yes, although you were Legendary before, but now you can proudly say that you are a self-made Legendary where requires 1000 earned merits. This post will inspire newbie contributors, they will more interested to contribute themselves to the forum. Keep up your contribution buddy, best of luck.

Congratulations. You walked for a long time, but you achieved your rank. It's honorable. You are right, you should not beg and live on the forum just to increase ranks and get merits. It looks very fake and insincere about the forum. I respect those people who learned about the forum a long time ago, and do not shout about their experience, but modestly participate in discussions. The 2016 registration and loyalty to the forum for 5 years speaks more about the love of cryptocurrencies than the rapid rank advancement that is achieved for financial gain.
My respect OP.

The lesson that I learned on this journey is to just be yourself - don't try to impress people, don't bait them for merit, do not view ranking up as a career, just use this forum as a social network that it is. Anyone can become a Legendary if they put just a little bit of effort into their posts and have a bit of knowledge about Bitcoin.
I congratulate you for this wonderful achievement. It is well deserved and that is why God has to rewards you. Many people thought they can achieve success in life through conniving, conning, manipulating and all many of evil! Life will always reward the just, the prudent and hard work. The books of proverb in Christian holy scripture made this clear. Enjoy your position and rank sir.

OP, what rank were you at when the merit system came out?  I get what you're saying about earning 1000 merits the hard way, but that would mean you were--if I'm not mistaken--a Hero member in Jan. 2018.  Does that sound right?

I'm starting to not be a fan of these kinds of threads anymore, especially after PrimeNumber7's.  Earning 1000 merits is quite an achievement, but you didn't make your way through all the ranks by earning merits, which is what I understand is what a "self-made Legendary" means.

Congrats. That means you were hero when the merit started on this forum, you have earned 1001 merits from 178 users, that means you have tried, you have contributed quality posts on this forum that are beneficial to other bitcointalk users, this should be just the beginning because learning never ends while also helping people never ends.

Users who were active in the early days and then quit the forum or post very rarely likely deserve their rank as you say, but there are Legendaries who post on a daily basis and only earned a few merits in all these years. So, with reaching this milestone now I feel that my rank is truly fair.

Congratulations, so much more difficult for new(er) members to achieve now. I don’t think I’d be able to be ome Legendary even double the time it took you. Really nice achievement!

Congs buddy, it's individual like you who keep the bitcointalk community going strong through those contributions however small they may seem. The atmosphere also gives genuine new members the inspiration to learn more about bitcoin and become better members themselves.

I hope to become a legendary member too someday, maybe next year  Cheesy

Imo, it was always well deserved even though the merits were air dropped. Those contributions to the forum before the merit system were the major building blocks which led the forum to where it is now.
Congratulations on your merit achievement, I have come across your account on several occasions and almost always find your posts and replies helpful.
