you can set your BIOS to shutdown your PC when the cpu temperature reaches high level. but as others said you have to worry about electricity bill.

Hello everyone,

I'm Interested in mining with my hardware at night,  but I was wondering how would it influence the lifespan of my hardware I'm using a i5 4690
galax gtx 1060
and 16gb ram

I'm not botherd about the temps in my room since my room is always cooled anyways i'm just worried about my hardware itself

Well, unless you are going to hash by hand with a pencil and paper, this won't go far Cheesy Wink

But seriously dude, you are like a few years behind on this. If you feel like you missed out on this, there are plenty of low difficulty, ASIC resistant coins you can still mine. If you speculate on which coins might be valuable in the future,  and mine them yourself, you can make a decent profit still. It's going to be hit or miss though, it's hard to predict which low cap alts are going to perform.

And while you can still mine it, there is always ETH Wink

Please don't ever try to mine bitcoins using your system either CPU or GPU.It would soon damage your mother board. You need powerful ASICs to mine bitcoins.Instead, you could mine some altcoins like monero, zcash using software minergate. That too is not guaranteed that your mother board will be fine.

Before you do bitcoin mining, you need to find out first the answer to the question: Are you ready to risk your hardwares? Bitcoin mining will push your hardwares to its maximum limit and it will lessen the lifespan of your hardware like the GPU (If you will do gpu mining) and CPU (If you will do CPU mining) or it can be both. It is better if you just build a mining rig and do not use your personal computer. You need to look for the possible profits because it is not fixed because the rate of coins that you can mine are not stable on their prices.

Is there a thread about how to complete mining?
If anyone can give a link to that thread?

I can do you one better!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0

That is the entire sub-forum about mining. Just a quick tip though, if you need to ask, then Bitcoin mining isn't for you.
If you get unlimited free electricity and have several million dollars to invest in a mining farm and the newest, most efficient miners, then go for it!
Yes this thread is entirely related to bitcoin mining. You just go through it once, and you get to know how tight to mine bitcoins nowadays. This is not easy bro you need to invest huge money in setting up bitcoin mining. And there is no assurance that you will get back your investment in one complete year. You must wait for a long time to get back your investment that is why try to set up any altcoin mining.

Just an GTX 1060 3 or 6gb will not bring you that far. Actually max you can get is about 0.001 btc in a day mining Ethereum through nicehash if you have a heavy overclocked 6GB card. It is a good thing that GTX 1060 is very friendly and very less energy consuming, only about 85-90 watt when mining Ethereum. So your best profit would be 0.03 btc in a month. You do the math if it's worth for you or not. I would say do it, as you never know the price of 0.03 btc after a few more years.

Not a single problem for your card, GTX series is well known to run 24 hours a day, without known problems so far.

It is good because you can earn enough money in this site. And i am Interested in mining.
Just a suggestion my friend, better to read up the op well before trying to say some words here because the things you do post isn't really connected at all on the concern of OP. What site are you saying? There no mentioning on site here but we are talking about mining not on any sites.Back to topic as been said above I agree with them you cant mine bitcoin using a pc because it do required specialized  rig just solely for bitcoin mining.

If you would do dual mining ( GPU+CPU) then I would really say it will surely melt down your set-up and take note you cant mine bitcoin on GPU since it do need Asic miners in able to mine bitcoin and the thing that do GPU could mine is altcoins in the market but having only 1pc would not be sufficient frankly speaking. 7-8 gpu's would be more ideal than on a single one.

Better try dual mining ETH+DEC with your GPU and XMR with your CPU instead Roll Eyes
If you still want mine bitcoin, you better buy ASIC instead.
Yes mining altcoins will be more profitable than mining bitcoins especially xmr, ETH, zcash and other altcoins
because price of altcoins are expensive and the difficulty are not too high,
we can calculate on what kinds of altcoins to be mined on here https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/#/companies
We can get the information about mining cryptocurrency.

i think its not good to mining bitcoin and its better to mining altcoin like ethereum or else because you know that bitcoin difficulty is always increase from time to time and if you are only have small hashrate, then its difficult to reach profit you want in a month.

according to this image that i look in nicehash.com, your vga card will get +0.00073415/day but you need to thinking about electricity fee you must pay in monthly. if the profit from mining can cover the fee then you can continue to mining bitcoin.

http://imgur.com/a/fUCUl

from that image, you have a big chance to make profit with dagger hashimoto which is DASH if i am not wrong because the percentage is big depend than the other so maybe you can get maximum profit.

Hmmm. You're just a couple if years late Cheesy

Gpu mining bitcoins is dead way back. The only current possible way to mine bitcoins is using ASIC miners (try googling antminer s9). That's what can be used now.

With your gpu rig try mining ethereum or decred or any other altcoin you want to.
Check this site to see which coin is right for yu at the moment.

You can mine some shitty Alt coins with that rig and then sell it and then convert it to fiat or bitcoins. You just have to set Fail-safe parameters for your hardware to shutdown if it reach dangerous temperatures. < some CPU's has built-in protection for this > You will be sleeping while your rig is mining, so you will not be able to monitor it and running CPU's at near full capacity might be more harmful in the long run. < We over clocked CPU's and GPU's and it reduce the life-time when you do that > ^hmmmmmm^

Bitcoin mining is an expensive one to do, but the earnings here is great but you are going to need a big capital to start this thing, because the Hardware that you are going to need is highly advance in the technology and also you must know what is the risk here, what is to do and don't's.

This is pretty strange to read in 2017. Did you do any research? Definitely altcoin mining is what you need to look into. You'll melt your GPU for a few pennies in bitcoins. Just don't bother.

you can no longer mine with your PC (CPU or GPU) read the sticky facts #1 in the mining board[1]
you can check out altcoin mining though. i can't say if your GPU is good for it or not since i am not familiar with it but there are sites like coinwarz.com that can give you more information on that.
also you need to worry about temperature and your electricity bill too.
