The fear of falling prices for Bitcoin and other crypto currencies is suddenly still hotly discussed. Is it true that the future of digital money is getting worse in 2019?
I think that's just speculation, the price is still around $3600, almost the same as last year. I think we need a lot of time and a lot of positive things to re-raise the price of bitcoin, patience and trust must be given to bitcoin, so this year is not a bad year for bitcoin anymore

This time that every body is afraid of investing into cryptocurrencies market, according to expect is the best time to buy as it always point to a reversal point.  2018, has placed stigma on bitcoin and others cryptocurrencies and investors are scared of buying and the skillful and professionals are using their technical and fundamentals analysis to trade and got little profits along the line.

Nobody knows for sure, but if making the cryptocurrency decline in 2018 as an estimate of the decline will also occur in 2019 is wrong thinking.

It's not sure if this year will become more worse than last year. All of people have fear in falling price of bitcoin because they think it will not rise again and might keep on falling down. But, this year expect more in uprising in price because this year is one of good year for cryptocurrencies.

The risk of decline can happen at any time, but I am not too worried about the decline because in the future it will be able to grow again. And for the year 2019, I think there will be an increase in crypto.

You can't look at the future of bitcoin as a form of currency simply from its price.

That would be as absurd as looking at a nation's future economy through its current foreign exchange rates comparative to other internationally currencies. It makes no sense. Especially with bitcoin, which has distinct bullish and bearish phases which recur throughout the time which it has been in existence.

Short term pricing wise, bitcoin probably will have another quiet year. There may be signs of recovery later this year, but I wouldn't say that a bull market is due to break out this year yet.

Despite that, you can't say that the future of the bitcoin community is in jeopardy. You can see signs that institutions are showing interest in bitcoin even in the bear market, and there are more real merchants both online and physically that are starting to accept bitcoin on a daily basis. Bitcoin's long term future shouldn't be affected by this short term correction of prices at all.

True, bitcoin was created as a new form of money but as we know money as well can be bought and sold like what happens in the forex market and thanks to the fact bitcoin is not printed by any governments then one of its main uses has been as a speculative vehicle, you do not have to like it but that is just the way it is and until more people use it as a form of payment many people will still think of bitcoin as just a speculative assert.

No, the best yet to come, this is just another phase of Bitcoin, Bitcoin still got a good price compare with the previous year before the hype, people are too concentrating on the price not the technology that the Bitcoin offers, that is the reason why people keep in saying Bitcoin is falling apart, but it's not true at all

I do not feel any worse from this year 2019 because if you see the incoming news and updates it will help the digital money to better so simply to say there will no worse in this year. It seems that in this year the price of bitcoin will recover and in the year of 2020 we might see another bull run.

Digital money had been predicted to be our future money and this will become more popular as the years goes by. What we had recently encountered was a major downfall that the market had been bearish for the whole year of 2018 which was never predicted that it will go that way. Anyway this could be temporary as we know that the market can bounce back and rise above the all-time high which positively this year will start to increase the demand with the coming of good news that will ignite the market. Yeah we need patience to wait for the market recovery.

There can never be a better time to invest in cryptocurrencies than now and if you really want to makes money from the market you have to take risks.  Generally the market is a risky one and if you want make money you have to put in money at this time that it seem too risky to invest.

I still uphold the belief that a short term bear market won't affect the long term future of bitcoin.

Firstly, 2019 is most likely going to see some bullish sentiment being injected back within the market. Especially in the latter part of the year, since the bear market has pretty much gone on for long enough (looking at historical bear market durations and percentage losses) for this to be close to the bottom right now. Secondly, we've seen this type of bear market which wipes out the majority of the market cap of BTC before, and it hasn't affected how institutions and individuals adopt bitcoin.

I wouldn't expect a bull market to emerge out of 2019, but I do think that adoption will continue to pick up as people get more comfortable with cashlessness. More institutions will likely be launching their bitcoin products or whatnot in 2019 compared to 2018 as well, given the fact that prices will be more stable most likely. That's my take on the matter.

What do you mean? If you mean adoption, then we're still getting there, it's gonna take a few more years before the masses start using bitcoin.

In terms of development, things are looking good since there are several ongoing projects that look really promising like the privacy tool Dandelion, Schnorr signatures, and even the Lightning Network.

But in terms of prices, it's hard to say what this year has in store for us, I think we're looking at a long period of stagnation, though we could definitely see some market movements with the launch of Bakkt and some other bitcoin/cryptocurrency events. Still, it's way too early to say for certain what's going to happen this year.

The future of cryptocurrencies keeps improving, remember that the price can be manipulated so you need to look at the fundamentals to know what it is going on, and when you do, you will realize the number of those which adopt bitcoin is going up, the technology is improving as well and it seems some countries are accepting that bitcoin will be here for the long term and are passing regulations that encourage investment in this market.

No it will not be worst it will become better again. Because this year 2019 is getting have more investor is will be good to pump again the bitcoin. Maybe the bitcoin and altcoins will be less risky because the market still increasing now.
Everybody is hoping for better at least this year but only time answer all of us. I'm not looking for any big differences in the risk levels in cryptos and especially with bitcoins because no environmental things has changed drastically just due to this new year. When everything will be as per what we had in the past years then why we need to worry about risks involved with cryptocurrencies. We may go for continue holding it and we may look for investing more with cryptos as usual.

Most probably this year 2019 will be a complete different year than 2018. But honestly, I'm not expecting to have another 2017 by this time because I am well aware giving bitcoin ecosystem a cooling time period so that it will perform very well in 2020 at least.

That fear was already experienced before by those early adopter and they already know what it was like for sure. While for the newbies that whoever first encounter this kind of phenomenon of bitcoin as i, myself too think that most of those traders might have left the atmosphere of cryptocurrency.

We may think that it is getting worse because we have experienced the long bearish market in the history but for those who are in that situation, look at them today.

This is what you called the benefits of the technology and a profit, by more adoption of crypto-currency it is going to become better in the near future. And if we are talking about of the future of this digital currency, I'm quite sure no one would guess or know what would be the outcome in the near future.

All that matters is what we do today will affect the future someday.

True adoption is increasing (forget the bandwagoning that happened in 2017).
Mind explaining what 'true' adoption looks like? The only form of adoption I have seen is how people consider crypto to be a money making machine, and that won't change--more than likely will become worse.

+90% of the people are here to make money, that's the hard reality. None of the exchanges feel the need to make people aware of why crypto has value in the first place. They only want to stimulate you to buy shit you don't need.

Exchanges are the entry points for people. If it goes wrong there, it's likely to go wrong everywhere.
Why do I need to buy bitcoin for using as money when I will be having enough payment processors for my online requirements. People will definitely buy bitcoin only when they are believing that there are plenty chances of making more profits in near future by investing with bitcoin right now. If there will be no possibility of multiplying your money through bitcoin, I'm afraid bitcoin must be valuing right now still under $1.

Yes, it will be hard to explain and convince people the basics of decentralization and advantage of having such a new money system. People are buying bitcoins with the aim of making good returns and then realizing the benefit of having such a financial system. Common people must need some easy entry points after that they start adopting it more due to its obvious benefits.
I have discussed this the many times that why we are having high value for bitcoin and why Mr Satoshi has designed bitcoin in such a way it will be having huge value over the time.

Just to attract new people to adopt bitcoin for their own reasons.

I consider true adoption to be people being able to and choosing to spend bitcoin in place of fiat. Of course it's hard to fully measure that but there are always news stories of new places that are accepting bitcoin payments. You're right in saying most people are here to grow their fiat value but that cannot be the entirety of the community or bitcoin would have no utility and would end up being nothing more than a ponzi scheme.

Adoption of bitcoin can be done for any reason and there will be no compulsory (nor any theory) it should be for making use of bitcoin only as money. True adoption sounds like people will be continuously "using" bitcoin and NOT they will buy and sell and then forget it completely.

For example, you may adopt bitcoin for paying your VPS hosting or to hoard in cold storage with the target of $1 million price levels. When you are continuously paying your VPS with bitcoin then you have become a true adopter of bitcoin and all the long term holders are obvious true adopters.

The right usage of bitcoin for percent time must be using it as a money making machine. Only after, it will be having considerably stable prices, it may turn into be used as money. I wonder how many people are understanding this facts about bitcoin adoption while entering.

Still hotly discussed? When has it gone cold in the past 3 years? Or even since it was globally traded and used? Show me just 1 sign why anyone interested in Bitcoin should be worried about its future. As pointed out above, we see adoption and use continuing in upward trends. Technological progress has even scaled up. Ok we have a temporary drop in hashrate and therefore, security but the long term upwarda trajectory is maintained.

i'm really glad the recent hashrate uptrend finally broke. it was completely diverging from the price throughout 2018, rising 4x while the price continually grinded downwards. that suggested the bubble in mining speculation still hadn't burst, even long after bitcoin's price bubble had.

The only thing that makes people worry is price. But even that is on an upward trajectory. Look at all time highs. All time lows. What do their numbers tell you?

Nothing I'm afraid, because if they did before buying into the hype, they would have waited on the side for the price to fall down to enter.

In the same way, all the idiots calling themselves experts made the same mistake, so it's not that newbies are the only ones to blame for doing the wrong thing. Newbies, ok, that's pretty understandable if they burn themselves in the very beginning, because we have all been there at one point, but the very fact that people who know something about traditional markets and their cycles have done the same, is ridiculous, heck, retarded.

Fomo affects everyone, because the euphoria that flows through the market turns even the most conservative investors into yolo gamblers. No one wants to miss out. The feeling that you could have invested but didn't is killing, just like how some people right now think about how they could have sold last year but didn't.

Future of digital money was no year worse then a year before. So it is also not in 2019. This year we will see results of 2017. But general mood about Bitcoin will be gloomy. Remember, Bitcoin was one of least profitable assets of 2018. And that argument cant be changed for a whole year.

If there's no future then crypto should be dead by now. But as you can see, bitcoin survived its 10 years and we have reach at least $19K during that time. So the future still looks like for crypto in general, might be some hiccups along the way but definitely a lot of leg room to grow in the next 10 years or so. Also remember that this is a free market, anyone can enter and exit as he/she pleases so there's a continuity.

I have seen couple of topics like this that stated "is it true that..." and continued to ask if what is "said" is true and all that.

Well, in order to even take you seriously don't you think it would be really good if you provided with a source ? For example here you said "is it true that the future of digital money is getting worse in 2019 ?", well who said that ? Did you ? If you said that than you should answer your own question first. If you didn't than who said that ?

I mean I have seen plenty of amazing news for 2019 starting with BAKKT and moving with SEC and tapping off with NASDAQ possibly. So, who says that 2019 will be getting worse ? Could it be ? Sure why not but the way the question was asked is making it like it is common thought that 2019 will be a bad year and everyone feels that way which is definitely not true at all.

I think cryptocurrency will grow more this year, and I don't think we need to be traumatized by crypto market conditions in 2018, because crypto will be able to return to recovering its value.

Someone who invested everything in 2017-2018 because he read here and now that BTC is the best investment is surely "traumatized".
I would like to see you telling him "you lost 80%, yeah, and you perhaps can't feed your family anymore" but don't be traumatized"
Recovering its value? How are you so sure, you're just betting. People should stop to mix the BTC value with its adoption because it's not how things work.

There's little to suggest that the future for bitcoin or crypto is getting any worse. True adoption is increasing (forget the bandwagoning that happened in 2017). Price wise there's little room to fall from here so 2019 will likely be a big improvement on 2018.

The year's just starting and you have been assuming it that its going to "worse". This isn't different with those predictions that are too high for everyone and what do you mean by worse? Price will go to $1 or there will be no adoption or worse there will be no more people that will use bitcoin and crypto's? Bitcoin proved to be strong even though it went through a correction for 2018. It's resistance shows on how much strength it has.

the fear has always existed among newbies and it has always been a hot topic of discussion. it is nothing new that you are seeing a heated discussion about it among them. the rest of us don't share that irrational fear about bitcoin price drops. there is always a risk/reward ratio when it comes to everything including bitcoin and at this point the reward is a lot higher than the risk because of the fact that bitcoin price is currently in a big dip and is the result of a huge decline in price (about 80%) and that is a good buy signal for many investors and a little more drop is not going to change this fact.

there will always be people who would want to convince you that the future of bitcoin is not good because of any of the following:
- they don't want to see bitcoin succeed because its success means their failure. like banks feeling threatened by bitcoin or some shitcoin that wants to be pumped more and knows if bitcoin is rising they have no chance of staying around
- they want to push bitcoin price lower so that they can buy more of it for themselves.
