This is a good sign that the market is getting a lot of support from the big guys. So we should invest early to get a big advantage before prices start rising in the next few months.
IMF chief is not a big guy, which is just a single person who is entitled to her own opinion about cryptocurrency and does not speak entirely for the whole IMF board.

Yes sometimes, when you know there are some top people in some very solid places showing their great interest for cryptocurrency, it makes you seem a little bit relaxed that this space is going to grow more than this eventually, but it is a decentralized space, and we all particularly have a general part to play when it comes to the adoption in this space. It is not one thing only a single person can achieve, but for awareness purpose though, it is a good start.

It is good to see someone with authority in support of crypto. We just need some more encouragement from influential people and this will together boost the prices of crypto.

I am holding all the coins currently because I do not think that it makes sense in selling in loss. The market is uneven but it will correct soon.
And authority like IMF that is totally about money coming and going. And yes, keep holding, for the good time is just about to come. In next month probably, we might be seeing good charismatic actions.
Well, I guess we hope so but even if we see some good action, it does not necessarily mean it is all about the IMF. Basically, this is one person's opinion, and generally, we are all entitled to her opinion which I believe she is as well entitled to hers, which in this case, referring to the IMF boss.

Yeah, just like someone rightly mentioned, things like this tend to give people hope and even create awareness, considering her position she occupied in a global organization like that, and could really help in the long run when it comes to the space growing but all the same, her supporting crypto does not necessarily mean, crypto would because of that skyrocket, there is so much to the market than meets the eye.

This is good news for cryptonians because all we want now are good vibes to help each feeling to be at ease and pevent from panicking but words are not enough to help this market bring to growth again,we are under attack from the bitcoin cash group to bring bitcoin down, but they fail thats why this is the final move of desperation.what we have to do is keep holding and let bitcoin staybon its peak

I think another point here to be made is the adoption rate. 5 years ago if you asked the IMF Chief what bitcoin is, they would have given you a vague answer, of course as an entity they are financially based so they would probably know some things about it but they wouldn't be really well versed in the subject. In the passing years bitcoin became so big that even IMF Chief not only knows what bitcoin and crypto is, but also supports it.

This is not some "didn't know what it is, now knows what it is" type of improvement, I mean literally supportive of it. It is incredible that bitcoin went from "money drug dealers used in silk road to buy drugs" into "IMF Chief supports idea of crypto" in just few years. I seriously think if we keep this pace up there will be some sort of world changing events involving bitcoin.

Christine Lagarde the same old reptiloid french lady who proposed last year to use the blockchain technology to fight the money laundering fraud & other illegal activities used with cryptos in Europe Cheesy She was not in favor so far... There is a quote in the article looking scripted like if a 2008 crisis is coming btw...

I hope you mean that reptiloid thing ironically or have you been reading too much David Icke? Tongue

I mean I really wouldn't trust anything she says, I'm fully aware that the IMF is just about everything that's wrong with the global financial system.
Cryptocurrency is trying to reach the opposite of what these people want.

That said, it does give cryptocurrency some perceived legitimacy, at least for some people.

this is good news, good news has a big influence on the price of bitcoin in the future, so the fact is that there are many people in this world who are beginning to realize about the extraordinary potential of bitcoin, indeed the currency transition period is running, even though there are various obstacles but the fact is that bitcoin cannot be dammed by anyone.

Yes, as the number of negative or positive news about crypto will make people curious and this is a special attraction to get to know the blockchain technology underlying crypto.

The IMF (International Monetary Fund) chief Christine Lagarde advocates Cryptocurrencies, according to the statement by CCN she said governments could set up their own cryptocurrencies. The IMF chief is in favor of the idea of fiat cryptocurrencies.  She stated that “The ways in which new technologies are lowering the cost to make financial transactions more accessible, even in very small numbers…I think it’s already massively disruptive,”
But the question remains with high electricity cost and recent Bitcoin value mining has gone for a toss, is the IMF Chief is skepticism about Bitcoin for real?

Finally a good news showing a big support of an international body, honestly I didn't see this news not until now even thought this was created last two weeks ago. This shows that the IMF head is not close minded when it comes to industry and is aware of the current situation we are having. This is just the start what I want to see more is the plans followed by this news, right now she is just showing open mindedness on crypto but it doesn't mean they are centered on some regulation with it.

Just showing support won't help the market to grow I guess, but still, it is a good approach. Will help somehow adding few members more. Will be looking forward to some serious help by IMF for the crypto industry. Keep on holding who have nothing to lose or in a loss.

The trouble with this kind of stuff is that as long as no one really does anything we are quite vulnerable to attacks. IMF supporting crypto is great but are they buying billions of bitcoins to fix the market ?

If not than there is no point on talking. I can say bitcoin is great all day and all year but as long as I do not buy any it won't affect the market.

Look at where we are right now, one dude fought with another and right now we are under 6 thousand dollars. The 6 thousand dollar threshold was really low and everyone kept saying it wouldn't go under there because the indicators showed it would be almost impossible to break it without a brutal sell force which actually happened during this hash war thing.

IMF has all the money in the world and can fix this in a second if they want but they won't, so no use of supporting it by just words.

it is one of the factors that will make the price of the crypto currency bounce back, but not as easy as turning the palm of the hand, the crypto currency price movements always experience a lot of corrections when it rises differently when the crypto currency prices go down, this is a difficult challenge take a position to sell or buy, but surely so that we get the maximum profit we are required to be able to take advantage of opportunities and risks as possible

I don't really see any evidence that the IMF is showing "strong support" per se, all they are saying is that regulation is needed and that there is some potential in crypto that countries need to realise.

It's not something that is overly positive news or something that will have an immediate impact, or any real impact on regulations at all.

But it is nice to see that bitcoin's potential is being acknowledged by this institution. The report is completely spot on with the fact that bitcoin transactions are global, and instantaneous which is something that banks cannot offer. Now, I don't think that in the future they'll show the same support for decentralised cryptos due to the fact that they are after all, a centralised institution. But I think that's where the potential is. Global, decentralised cryptocurrencies. If governments around the world start regulating these cryptos positively right now, they will reap the rewards of increased tax revenue and investments in the future for sure, but unfortunately this is not happening in the majority of states.

Hopefully, the development of technology will make everyone aware and use cryptocurrency in their lives and ignore what their government says.

This is the main reason that I believe that cryptocurrency will eventually emerge as a currency used for particular digital transaction and more. The world's technology is growing and different businesses are springing up too in that line. One day, cryptocurrency will be preferred for payment at least on the internet business.

Acknowledging the benefits of crypto is a far cry from real progress, most people are now aware of the benefits of crypto. The problem is that many still want to see crypto fail because it's within their interests. Large banker sorts don't want people to have a faster and cheaper alternative because it takes money out of their own pockets.
You do really have the point and it is indeed part of the reality where these banksters or merchants would definitely love to see for crypto to fail
specially bitcoin because they able to saw that its mainly affecting on what they do have built. These common positive views from so-called popular persons
aren't really affecting too much yet most of us normal or typical crypto supporters would definitely have the same view after all.

It is also people who are generally not in a position to make changes themselves that have these positive outlooks on crypto, they are able to admit to the benefits of it without it adversely affecting their own positions. Christine Lagarde won't face pressure from any shareholders, partners, bosses etc for expressing her opinions, whereas someone working for JPMorgan, or Goldman Sachs etc would do so.

This is a fact, they don't want their customers just to go away and get out their money from the banks.

They also don't really want to see these people enjoy what crypto is giving away to everyone. IMF chief is a well known supporter of crypto and she is also giving an idea that governments could set up their own cryptocurrencies.

I saw this about governments setting up their own cryptocurrencies but can't see any environment in which this would happen. The currencies are likely to operate alongside fiat so they're better off just incorporating blockchain technology in to already existing systems and replacing some fiat with their crypto, BUT they would remain interchangeable and actually be the same currency in practice.

Yes, the important personality are becoming aware of the important of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.  I believe that time is going to prove to our financial agency that the world needs a system like this very one and we should keep promoting cryptocurrencies in our own ways.

We ourselves, or the crypto community can probably actually affect change a lot more than Christine Lagarde can. Because we will be the ones pushing for the use of cryptocurrency and pressuring businesses to accept it and banks to adapt to be as efficient or more efficient than crypto currently is. That in itself is a lot more powerful than just stating your belief or support for something. At the end of the day, money talks.

Actually, many people who have believed in the function of cryptocurrency in the future, only a problem comes when various people who counter the cryptocurrency have full power so that everyone does not know or not use cryptocurrency like the government. That is the most important part for everyone still reluctant to try to have a cryptocurrency in their lives. Hopefully, the development of technology will make everyone aware and use cryptocurrency in their lives and ignore what their government says.

Quoting from that IMF report:

Quote
“Today, some enthusiasts say crypto-assets may represent the beginning of a similar breakthrough. Others condemn crypto-assets as little more than a fad or a fraud. We should not dismiss them so lightly.”

I think that's a fair judgment on things right now. There has been plenty of people out there that have either claimed that bitcoin is not going to survive, or is a ponzi scheme/pyramid scheme, etc. You name it. These people I think simply don't understand what bitcoin brings to the table, and its decentralized nature.

However, even though the IMF article showed some pretty positive stuff about crypto, it's not going to be necessarily the case on a national level where legislation and regulation is actually made.

It's still up to the governments to decide whether they would like to ban crypto (even though that would be a completely stupid idea due to the impossible task of enforcing it) or not, and what regulations they want to put in. The IMF also has not made clear whether the "crypto assets" they support are decentralized, or issued by governments. That part of it is still vague and up to interpretation.

It's funny how people start screaming "to the moon" when someone famous is saying something positive about Bitcoin, but when they are criticizing it, their opinions are quickly getting dismissed. So, if this very same IMF chief have said that Bitcoin is a bubble, people here would be talking how stupid she is. This is a dangerous mentality because it's ultimately being driven by emotion towards our investment rather than logic.

That is a great statements made by IMF chief and she really spoke the reality.  We are going to have a very serious surge in investments into cryptocurrencies market in the year  2019. All this statements is like a preparations for what is going to happen next year.  We all know that blockchain technology is transparent and if the world want to used a transparent system the best thing to do is to adopt blockchain technology.

Yes, she may be in favor of cryptocurrencies, but what good does it do in our current state of affairs? Words will only be words if they aren't spearheading something that would be beneficial to cryptocurrency users and the general masses as well. See everyone supporting cryptocurrencies once a good project outline comes from them. The only thing holding back the general public into using crypto is the lack of support from the government and financial institutions, and once that is cleared out, they will come into crypto in waves that's for sure.

Short-term future cryptocurrency is headed towards destination fck*d, but long-term is future is still beautiful if the IMF is really into something for the development of cryptocurrencies.
