Back when OpenSim was discussing what currency to adopt, I proposed Bitcoin, but they choose to create some new centralized crap currency. Would have been an ideal match, with OpenSim being an open source clone of Second Life, with the ability for users to host their own sims.

Phillip Rosedale -- the creator of Second Life -- has pulled together a team that is working feverishly to create a new second generation virtual world called HiFi. I am unaware of any discussions about the economy in this new development. However, Rosedale is known to be a Bitcoiner.

bitcoin virtual world version 0.1 exists..
... http://www.dragons.tl/

its interactive gambling, but a step in the right direction.

ah thx for that.

i dont know if this is possible but it would be important that there is no company which runs that game. (iam just dreaming)
it has to be made in a way, where you cant shut it down, like bitcoin and the world looks like in GTA with alot of different jobs and so on (but with less violence).

we see the beginnings, even when there is a company which runs it  Smiley

Interesting but an entirely virtual world is strange and scares people. We all know what happened with World of Warcraft. The uses of Bitcoin are limitless this is what I see in this article.

Today i read an interesting article on coindesk. actually it lets me dream of the possibilities:

"2. Immersive virtual worlds accessed through devices like the Oculus Rift will have bitcoin-based economies, meaning there will be no bright dividing lines between where these virtual economies end and the real world economy begins. People will walk virtual pets to earn money for a flesh-and-blood Chihuahua. Teens will become millionaires for projects they launch in virtual worlds (sneak preview: today’s YouTube stars and League of Legends players you’ve never heard of). As the size of these virtual world economies grow, currencies that don’t cross over easily, like Euros, will feel antiquated."

think of a minecraft / gta / second life style world which you cant shut down (runs in the cloud or something). a virtual economy. "second life 2.0" with oculus rift and bitcoin-based money. some people will only work there and will not have a "normal" job (like gold farmers in WoW but much more professional and complex).
