load the wallet.dat with wallet-key-tool
save it as Multibit .wallet file

or rename the bitcoin-core dumpwallet file (you get this when using the "dumpwallet" command in the bitcoin-core console), rename it so that it has .key at the end and then import it into Multibit using the import function (its the same file format)

okay quick steps..

STEP 1: Open bitcoin core and help ->debug window -> console

step 2 : type dumpprivkey
( should look like dumpprivkey 6t33g497t497314g9dfsd )

step 3: copy your private key and paste it in a notepad and save as all files with the extension .KEY

step 4 : open multibit and import private key, select your notepad

its done..

if you have your private key why not use blockchain.info wallet and do a sweep

Because I don't want to wait 10 hours for the blockchain to be built.

He meant blockchain.info online wallet.
Import your private key there and do a sweep.

I refrain from ever using online wallets, but I might do a small sum with this seeing as it's the official one.

you can trust blockchain.info, I think you are afraid of a mt.gox situation, dont worry blockchain.info has very different way of functioning than centralized online wallets.

Alright so basically my computer was shut off while bitcoin wallet was on so when I restarted my computer my wallet had to reindex the whole blockchain. The problem is I need to make a payment for something right now. And since multibit syncs with the bitcoin network I was wondering. Could I import the wallet.dat/private key from my reindexing bitcoin wallet to multibit wallet and then send those coins instantly?
