I think a calendar of some sort showing the future events is needed, as opposed the history.

This is a highly comprehensive timeline of Bitcoin's important historical events.
But the website hasn't been updated after mid-2014 which is a bit sad.
Still has a lot of events up until that point.

So, I understand that ... we have a block halving in 3 years.

Here is a site that counts down to that event: http://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/

Another date just learned: 18th of October is the Chinese election date, so their President Xi may feel more comfortable to let the markets roam free, including btc. For now, he needs to please folks who elect him, the commy party Cool

You may not know the exchanges closing dates unless they announce it ahead of time but
How about dates like segwit2, halving of the blocks etc.? I am on the lookout for such information to predict price rise and falls Smiley
I am not sure if there's a section on this forum dedicated to the announcements of such events well in advance but just before any such events are going to take place we often come across lots of threads by various different members created to discuss all this stuff and then there's media which we can use to keep ourselves updated. There are some really good and reliable websites which we may visit on a daily basis to stay ourselves updated with the upcoming bitcoin or cryptocurrency related events.

So, I understand that one of the largest China exchanges will close down permanently on Sept 30th and we have a block halving in 3 years. I learned these dates from various forum posts here, and they are useful.
Is there a calendar of some sort where you have important dates in cryptocurrency? If not, how many people think it would be useful to cryptocurrency public?

I have never seen such kind of calendar but I really believe that such dates must be stored in a some sort of simple calendar type of application that may show all the dates where something great happened to the crypto market. But, that should not be some kind of calendar type but a website that should show the complete information of such events without any hard language. It may also be converted into many languages to be readable to many of the users.

Some dates such as exchanges closing etc. cannot be known until the company itself make an announcement, as for conferences and events you have: https://bitcoin.org/en/events and for meetups check the bottom of the page.
