I think when gambling is involved, nothing beats having self-control and playing in moderation.  This way all the losses are controlled and we are able to make use of our time for more productive activity.  Don't let ourself hook on the idea of chasing wins and losses because that will be the time that we will be losing money that is more tan what we can afford to lose.

Aside from that, we can't really analyze why we lost if we are playing a luck-based gambling game since its result is random.  I think in this kind of gambling game, the only authority we have is the amount of betsize we are wagering.

Exactly and in addition, I would say that you can easily do these things when you have a life outside gambling, have a job, a hobby, or a side hustle. In that case, you are unlikely to overindulge yourself in gambling or overbetting. When you got a loss, then do your side hustle or play with your hobby. You take a break because you didn't make gambling as your life. And that is very helpful in managing your exposure to gambling casinos. Also, your source of income and entertainment is not only in gambling but in your job or hobby too. So if you are able to manage your gambling well along with your priorities in life, I think that is more rewarding than winning one big shot of dollars.

  • Have alternate plans to execute, so that loss can be minimised while the match is in progress.

This one is also dangerous IMO. By trying to chase and cover your 'unrealized' losses, you are already setting yourself for more losses. What if your live bet to compensate with your possible loss also turned out to be a failure? Sometimes letting these losses occur is much better than trying to get something off of the event and salvage a few dollars. It's not worth the time and effort IMO, and it's better to start researching for the next event rather than sulking in your defeat or trying to win back something off of the lost bet.
Indeed, it would more likely be some sort of 'pushing your luck' scheme. During continued bet losses, I'd prefer taking a pause and having some rest. Once you are affected by your emotions such as frustration, then things won't do you any good. Let it slide for now. The drive to make up with your losses will just more likely give you a tendency to lose even more. Even if you have a large pocket to gamble, you'd be tilted aftereards. This is gambling and we won't always win the game no matter how good of a player you are. Let us simply accept the fact that there are "red days".

Analysis will just help a player to make a guess with basis and not guess alone. It would indeed lessen the risk of losing but will never guarantee winning. Ups and downs are part of our gambling routine and rather than focusing to learn in order to come up with a win, I think it would be better to be preventive, or to simply make adjustments and limitations to how much can you afford losing.

I will start by saying that you should not afford taking a risk of what you cannot cope with the conditions attached to it especially when it comes to gambling funds, dont borrow money to gamble, dont rush into gamble, dont compare yourself with other gamblers, try to learn gambling on your own and don't be so dependent and the most important aspect of it all is for you not to get addicted to gambling by any chance.
That's true, but the problem is that there are still people who still take the risk even though the loss of money will still occur as long as they play gambling. And they can still borrow the money to recover the loss, but that still doesn't guarantee they can recover the loss. And if we lose, we should be able to accept our defeat so that we won't have feelings of regret for having used the money to gamble. And hopefully, after that feeling of regret starts to grow, we can slowly realize the mistakes we have made before so that we can be better by not gambling.

Nothing much to be learnt from the sports betting activities, because we're doing it based on the information we've gathered and not on some luck.

  • Never look for the big odds, go with the one based on the information.
  • Have alternate plans to execute, so that loss can be minimised while the match is in progress.
  • Don't be greedy with matches that are in favour of you, while you've chosen the underdog.
  • Cashout the winning when you're on the best position and chosen the underdog.

I don't brood inside after losing a bet, and it's true that I sometimes comment on which bet didn't go well, but no way do I check what went wrong after the game I lost, that's because when a person starts to think a lot in mistakes and losses, the person starts to brood and feel guilty for having chosen that losing team instead of having chosen that team that won the game, then the depression scenario begins, and when you are depressed, the person starts to feel make a lot of mistakes and depression starts to reach worrying levels and unfortunately no one realizes the seriousness of it, the person continues playing

the person develops depression and paranoia, after the games he sees the mistakes he made and tries to correct them, but he loses again, he does not accept that gambling are not for profit, but fun and that those losses are something normal that happens with all people, the person's money ends up in gambling, until one day the person can't stand so much pressure and dies. It seems like something meaningless what I'm talking about, but it's not. after a game ends in defeat it is better for the person to forget about it and focus on analyzing another game and not feel guilty. look at the game as fun
The cycle of losses, introspection, guilt, and reiteration is a destructive journey, typically unnoticed until it spirals into catastrophic proportions. When recreational activities evolve into obligations or coping tools for guilt or depression, it indicates the transition from enjoyment to addiction. Your counsel to treat gambling as amusement rather than an income source is shrewd, yet challenging to apply amidst habitual gambling

Additionally, your perspective of forgetting past losses and focusing on fresh games is pragmatic, but strenuous for habitual gamblers. The implicit risk stems from the subtle augmentation of bets to cover old losses, often leading to further losses, both financially and emotionally.

if you will keep yourself at bay when it comes to gambling, you won't get into trouble.
Keeping yourself at bay means maintaining discipline. A disciplined gambler will barely get into trouble because of the disciplined behaviour in gambling. An undisciplined gambler will most likely spend on gambling recklessly without control even if they have other  responsibilities with money.

From the losses that I have made in sports betting, the biggest points I have learnt is that every gambler should not only depend on copy betting, that is copying games from other sports bettors without knowing exactly why you are betting on a particular team to win.

Most of the gambling platforms I've used understand that players sometimes reach a point where they need to take control of their gambling habits. To address this, these platforms offer the option to temporarily deactivate an account, allowing individuals to take a break and organize their lives, especially for those who may have lost their way due to excessive gambling. Regardless of how much one earns or how successful gambling may be, it is important to take a break to clear the mind, give the brain a break from constant thinking, and regain the ability to make sound betting decisions. For instance, I personally took a break from gambling and will only resume once the Premier League and other domestic leagues recommence.

for me in sports betting for example ongoing football.. we have to be careful in choosing which favorite team we think we can win.. and in betting we must be prepared to accept losses or gains.. because we must be prepared to lose what money we bet big or small we have to be ready to accept the risks.. the most important thing is we have to be able to control our finances in gambling.. because in my opinion very few people benefit. sports betting
All bets, whether on ongoing or previous sports matches, certainly have a risk, no gambling is without risk, everything certainly has a risk, therefore it is important to manage our expenses in gambling bets, whether betting with small or large money bets, everything returns to faith. those of us who have gone through research and analysis, don't be careless about seeing tempting odds in sports matches.

The best way to gamble is that we know when to gamble and when to stop gambling, because gambling doesn't always win every time, so make sure to find the right time to gamble because not only gambling is betting on sports, even casinos are the same. the most important thing is to gamble with money we can afford to lose.

of the options you have listed this seems to be for professional gamblers. and for ordinary gamblers like me, it really doesn't need to be this complicated, but just betting responsibly and having a commitment with the bankroll you have.
I mean as long as we gamble using money that we can afford to lose with a small budget and always commit to a minimum bet amount, this will prevent us from big losses in gambling. unless gamblers only think about profits and maybe the options written by OP are very good to apply to betting strategies.
That's right, for gamblers like us, I especially don't need to be that complicated, because I personally gamble with what I'm prepared to lose. I don't chase victory because for me it is a bonus from the pleasure I feel when playing gambling. I don't deny that I also want to win and all gamblers will also be very happy when they win, especially in large numbers.
Until now I have only done self-control so that I stop when I have lost what I am ready to lose, and when I win I will also stop when I feel that I have enough, and also I use money that I don't use for anything, or I have budgeted it for gambling, and I have met all needs, including saving or investing.

if you will keep yourself at bay when it comes to gambling, you won't get into trouble. like if you only bet on sports that you are very familiar of and that means, you only place bet if you are rooting for the team or on a specific athlete. and you know your limits when it comes to bankroll. so you won't have any problem even if you lose because that money is considered lost when you start using them for your bets.
of course, you want to win as much as possible. but if you lost the game, and you are using your extra funds, your life won't be a mess, unlike when you use a loaned money, right?
Using borrowed money for gambling is not very wise at all, borrowing only for the necessities of life is actually something that must be avoided when we are still able to make ends meet even though we have to be limited, moreover, borrowing for gambling I would say that is a very stupid thing to do.
We know that when gambling, the percentage of losses will be greater than wins, so don't be stupid in gambling with borrowed money.

Bettors can react to their defeat in a variety of moods, which in my opinion depends on the amount they bet. Usually people who bet are highly emotional when their favorite team plays and places bets beyond their means.

If it's a small bet, the fact is that people won't evaluate it much, especially regarding financial and emotional management. They don't really have to learn anything new from the loss.
Yes you are right, I also feel that way when I place more bets than what I can afford. We will definitely do it with the aim of winning and wishing our luck big at the same time. But when we lose, we will be very sorry for having done it. Things like this must be avoided, because this will react to emotions and regrets which when we can't control it, we will think even bolder to encourage us to continue making deposits to return losses.

Bankroll management strategy: Proper bankroll management is critical for long-term gaming success. Set up a separate budget for betting and make staking limits, such as restricting bets to a certain percentage of your total bankroll.

This is the most important factor for me when it comes to gambling, it doesn't matter if place bets on sports or play games in a casino. Having a strong bankroll management is the key to longterm success and we all should be focusing on it more often. During a losing streak we need to account for the change in our bankroll, the more money we lose the lower our future bets are going to be as we should be focusing on similar percentage size bets. This will protect us from chasing our losses and trying to recover our previous losses with increasing our bets. I noticed this is a lot in my earlier gambling days when I increased my bets a lot in an effort to recover, which in most cases didn't work and only lead to bigger losses. It's not only important to focus on our bankroll management when we are losing bets, but also when we are winning and making money. Having a strict strategy in place for our money helps to secure our winnings. For me the best is to take a fraction of any bigger winnings and withdraw that money, so I don't face the risk of losing it too quickly again.

Well one of the greatest lessons I've learnt so far from my loses are that I should never chase after my losses and even without the forum, I've  learnt this very one in a very hard way.  Another thing to consider is ones specialty  and just as ChiBitCTy has already mentioned that repeating ones mistakes especially  if is intentional is one big error and one way to over come this, is to analyze our losses and also trying to figure out where the error truly is and also correcting it to avoid  future occurrences.

And I've also learnt to stop betting on matches um.nkt really good at like the boxing and its likes and that why I've also sticked to soccer betting to enable me accept my losses.

Some guiding principles will make one's gambling life stress-free and fun-filled. Betting what you can afford to lose is important because you will not have a bad loss. We should learn to gamble with fewer funds so that gambling will not be a burden to us. Seeing gambling as a major source of income is another mistake gamblers make. This will make them face financial problems because gambling will automatically become an investment medium. The gambling sector is too risky to be considered a source of income, so we need to see it as an occasional source of income. Avoid chasing losses is very important because you cannot predict the outcome of the games so no one is sure of the next stake. Having a gambling plan and a budget and following it, will always be my watchword.

Do choose the team that has bigger odds as they are likely to win. Though sometimes it fails but most of the time, they win.
Honestly, we have a bigger chance to win in sports betting as it never relies on luck but on choosing the team. But many gamblers still lose because we can't deny the fact that gambling isn't everything on our hands and we are not the ones who dictate the results. But of course, winning our bet come as long as we are not in a hurry. Most of the time we double our bets as we are chasing back our losses and desperate enough to win, in the end, we lose more.

In gambling it is important to know a few things. One of them is researching the causes of loss and the other is bankroll management. Gambler should research why a bet was lost. Many people conduct gambling without doing enough research and getting hurt. Besides, another thing is that winning in gambling depends on luck, so only those who can survive in the market for a long time can hope to get something good in gambling. Gamblers who can manage their bankroll properly will be able to gamble for a long time.

Well, speaking of sports betting, they shouldn't go highly emotional. If they are serious about it, it should all be part of an overall plan, and that's what I think the OP's advice is aimed at. A winning sports bettor can have a losing session or several losing sessions and then they should analyse whether they have done things right. If he has done well, he should stick to the plan as is and not let the losses affect him emotionally. The bad news is that when losing streaks get longer, this is easier said than done.

You wont really be putting yourself into trouble if you are really just that mindful when it comes to gambling risks or something that you should need to avoid or something that you need to do so that you wouldnt be able

to experience those common gambling problems that most people been able to face on. Whether you are dealing with sports betting or those casino games on which we know that gambling is really just that for entertainment.Spending money isnt really that bad as long you are really that in control with your finances specially with gambling. Allocate on something which you can afford to lose and dont go beyond those
limits so that you wouldn't really be finding yourself at huge trouble.

Sports betting losses? This is usually happens when underdogs beat up the highly favorite one or on the time that you do make out some all in betting.

Prioritize quality over quantity: Rather than placing a large number of bets, focus on discovering high-quality betting opportunities. Conduct comprehensive research, analyze statistics, and place bets that have a better probability of winning.
I really do not understand this point, because in my opinion, a quality bet is if we can win it, so even if we only have one bet with careful research but if in the end it is a loss then it is still not a qualified bet, while if we have a lot of bets of course with a careful study will open up the chances of earning a profit, but in sports betting there is no certainty of winning, even though we have carefully analyzed, and maybe also betting on a favorite team or athlete even with small odds the chance of losing remains and is difficult to avoid, so the good thing is to stay on the budget and use the money we can afford to lose, because in gambling between winning and losing the chances are 50-50. And I think that's the most important thing I learned from sports betting.

This is to me is very much like when financially investing, or trading stocks/options etc. The biggest lesson of all, is to not repeat your past mistakes and by studying where things wrong, you give yourself a big advantage to not be there again.

To me though, my biggest lesson ever learned was stop betting on stuff you’re not good at. Like I stopped betting Major League Baseball and soccer because I didn’t know shit about how to bet either game. Sticking with NFL football and NBA , where I know the games better and how to bet them more so, has really paid off.

Nice list here.

Knowing who to tail and what games to tail is also key to getting a lot more value out of your bets. There are some successful tipsters out there that are worth the follow and the tail, you just have to look for them. Also, only copy bets on sports that you really know, so you could assess whether that pick was made with much thought and analysis and not just some random bullshit that the other bettor gave you just for you to not bug him again for picks.

Accept responsibility for your losses: It is critical to accept responsibility for your betting losses. Blaming outside influences or luck will keep you from learning key lessons and enhancing your future betting strategy.
Sometimes it's not actually your fault. I mean, imagine betting on the bigger team to win and they lost. This is a team that is not only the bigger team, but they are better and in a better form than their opponent, yet they  still lost. What can you do about that? How could you have known? In some instance in football (soccer), these superior teams can't even score a single goal during the whole match.

Disciplined betting: Maintaining a profitable betting strategy necessitates discipline. Even if you are feeling losses or emotions, stick to your set plans and avoid making premature selections.

This is something I learnt at my early stage of gambling and I'm very glad I did. Sometimes I might disobey my rule in the name of taking risk and it always ends badly for me Grin

I believe the most important point is to know about the sports we wanted to bet with.  We must know the information, strength, and weaknesses of each team.  This way we can have a better chance of winning.  We must pump up our skills in analysis and updated information so that we can tell precisely the condition of each team.  From that we can create a much better prediction on which team will end up victorious.

What do you say, ideally like that. however, there are several other mechanisms that we must be involved in when conducting research to determine a bet. apart from what you said in this post, there are other things that we consider. usually, I will look for various up-to-date information regarding the teams that will compete and be part of our bet. the choice, not just on which team is stronger. but to minimize defeat, we have to find all the information and loopholes from the two teams that we are researching. Apart from that, the formation and system factors used by the two trainers are always our consideration. that's important, because at least we'll have a little picture of how this match goes.

So, there are many approaches we have to take if we want to minimize defeat. everything, will be interrelated depending on the extent to which we have knowledge and insight regarding the sport. that's why, I prefer to bet on sports, especially football. at least from the 5 matches that I chose as a single bet, maybe only 2 bets missed what we predicted.
well, that way, we will win the rest of the betting session that we do. at least, it's more fun than any gamble for me personally.  moreover, it provides a sizable probability of victory depending on our insight. the rest, let luck decide.

IMHO, even if we'll list as much as important factors for learning through our worst bets and losses is that we will still forget most of them. And with the lessons that we may learn from those, eventually they'll have no place in our minds when we're currently or actively gambling.

Because it gets into our minds that the most important thing is to win. And we only do realize these factors and lessons when we've lost and we've got nothing left.

The latter part of having nothing after we gamble is pushing us to the point that there must be something wrong and we do recognize that at the end. It's true that all of those points should be remembered but situation changes and we often forget it when our emotions are being mixed.

Like what I also mentioned to similar posts like these, experience will still be the best teacher. Even if a person reads tons of guides and information about a certain act, he/she will not fully grasp the whole situation until they experience it.

Just like in gambling, the best way to learn from one's experience is to personally experience the win/loss of your resources. Until you realized personally that you are guilty of your actions, that is when a person is more convinced that he/she will at least attempt to stop gambling.

Though this may be the case, I still appreciate people for compiling several lists about their techniques in order to avoid getting addicted. Obviously, they are the ones who have already walked this road and they are imparting the lessons that they have learned along the way to warn curious people about it.

great tips, thanks for sharing.
these advices can definitely help the gambler starting to bet and don't waste too much money.
the only problem in this case... the gambler who starts betting never thinks how important it is to read these tips and adapt a real strategy in his play!
we all started playing for "fun as a hobby" it's really rare to start with a systematic approach as it is much more likely people would use with trading.

I do agree with that. It's not really my first time to read about some stuffs like this and some points to remember so that our mistakes will not happen again or rather our mistakes will be minimized but the thing is, when we're in the middle of the situation and is going through some ups and downs while gambling, it will be just hard to remember these points because one thing will remain and that is to win.

Still, the OP deserves some credits for taking his time to make us remember about what should we do and remember before we engage towards any gambling activities.

The lesson I've learned from loosing sports bet is to take all bets serious. Probably every time I made a bet just for fun, just because odds seems to be like a easy win, just because "that team/player simply cant fail" - I've lost. I did not treat my money responsibly. Also a bet like "place a bet and forget" will probably lose. Every time I've placed a bet and watched sports, I end with more or less expected outcome. But when I place a bet, close browser and went for a lunch for example, it is always a loss for me. Play smart, focus, have cold head.
Actually, there's nothing wrong on what you're doing before. That is how gambling should be played, for the people to have an entertainment and not to have a source of income because it won't just work smoothly.

In another perspective, maybe you are now saying this because you think sports betting is a game of skill and knowledge that if you take it more seriously, you can win most of your bets, and if you want to enjoy to the fullest, you can do this better on casino games. Watching the sports you're betting, has no impact on the outcome of the match. What happens to you were maybe just a coincidence, so don't ever sacrifice your lunch, or other important things only to prioritize gambling.

It's a good thing that you have learned your lesson based on your experience. Although it would've been much better if you learned without costing yourself a little trouble. But it is what it is, and the good thing is you get past through it and vowed to yourself that you will never do that bad move again on your future bets and plays. If you really want to win in sportsbetting, it is crucial to take into consideration all the important details and information to have a higher chance to predict who's going to bring home the bacon. If you will let your gut feeling without backed up references as a foundation of your bet, and if you will let your feelings get in your way, you'll likely lose no matter how "confident" you are.

Analyze your losses objectively: Take the time to go over your worst losses with a clear and objective mind. Determine the elements that contributed to the losses, such as poor decision-making, emotional reactions, or a lack of research.
Poor decision making is a product of lack of research or lack of knowledge to a sport generally. Some people might have lost their bet when they are not aware of some changes from a specific team, that of course will affect the odds, thus making it more enticing to place a bet from an unusual odds.

Common mistake made by some people because they thought what majority says about what team to bet is always a good choice. They should try to research first because sometimes peoples opinion is just based on their opinion only and we should consider to look at if their opponent have complete rooster or even at their base shape before the game begins.

After analyzing all my sports betting waves, I could see that being emotional is where I mostly lost.
Being a fan of a lot of teams will make you bet on the wrong end. I don't know how that can be controlled though especially if they are always the underdogs. I tend to bet for them and not take the handicap given by the sports bookies. If I did, I may have made some instead of losing more this whole season.
Regarding parlay. I just learned that recently to go for quality over quantity.
I take four to five players most of the time and put them all in a bet builder (same game parlay). Those players are known to make stats all the time and not risk it with someone who might not play the whole game.
There are more mistakes that I've done but it's always cool for people to share their experiences and then learn from them. Sports betting is such a huge industry, I also want to try those parlays in different sports. It got me hooked when I saw a lot of gamblers sharing their winnings in the Stake chatbox.

of the options you have listed this seems to be for professional gamblers. and for ordinary gamblers like me, it really doesn't need to be this complicated, but just betting responsibly and having a commitment with the bankroll you have.
I mean as long as we gamble using money that we can afford to lose with a small budget and always commit to a minimum bet amount, this will prevent us from big losses in gambling. unless gamblers only think about profits and maybe the options written by OP are very good to apply to betting strategies.

While emotional reactions are the most common that I've seen especially during the NBA playoffs. In a seven game series, those who lost once or twice will usually double or triple their bets in the next match. That's the usual scenario I've always been seeing from the bettors who's trying to chase their losses and make profit all at one bet.
I guess everything you wrote below falls under the emotional reactions or retaliations to a losing bet. When you can't control your emotions those things will happen.

A loss in sports betting is categorized on two imo, lack of research, whether it be about the game, the teams involved, etc, and the other being luck. The first is pretty understandable, OP touches upon it as well.

The second? OP seems to acknowledge that luck exists in sports as well. While it may be rare, instances where underdogs suddenly became champions because of luck isn't that odd imo. Refusing the existence of luck is like refusing the existence of unseen variables, like say a hidden sickness of a player, sudden improvement by their benched players, stuff like that.

Well thats about the game itself, betting? The usual stuff. Bankroll management and stuff like that.

Only gamblers who can learn from their mistakes can develop and get better. But we have met many gamblers who did not learn from their experiences or mistakes but instead made other mistakes. This should be strictly avoided so that we do not experience the same thing in the future.

@OP already gave us his five conclusions; maybe they don't align with what we got. So we must modify it to learn from what we have experienced as gamblers. This will allow us to improve our abilities and will also be better than before. We do need time to get better but it's worth it.
We've all encountered huge losses and tremendous winnings from gambling systems, and I've learned a great deal in prior years about never giving up and striving for good odds. Gambling is depicted as a steady, step-by-step process. To become a prosperous gambler, certain principles must be strictly followed, which may be challenging at first but will become second nature over time. We admit and fix our weaknesses, unlike other gamblers who never recognize their mistakes and plan on making more than would result in penalized figures.
Never giving up and fighting for good opportunities can be maintained, but we also have to see how big our chances are. If your odds still look stable in that you can win some money, you can still play gambling as usual. If not, you must reduce gambling and focus on other things. You can return to gambling as usual at any time, especially if you feel you have had enough rest. But you also have to admit that becoming a professional gambler takes a lot of things and is not easy. Many people have tried it but most failed and lost their money.

We've all suffered our fair share of setbacks. What is truly important, though, is how we respond to our worst betting losses and the lessons we learn from them. I believe we can turn these setbacks into profits with favorable outcomes by reflecting on our prior mistakes, implementing solid betting practices, and embracing a disciplined attitude.

For many successful bettors, failure is not only inevitable, but also a crucial part of their journey. You have to see failure not as an obstacle, but as an opportunity to grow and learn. Casinos are a very challenging and tough environment as the odds are often stacked against the players and failure is almost guaranteed. But for those who manage to pick themselves up after the fall, the initial failures become a valuable source of insight and lessons. In fact, it is necessary to use these events to adjust strategies, analyze errors and make more accurate decisions in the next bets.

I like to cite the example of Stu Ungar, one of the greatest poker players in history, as he is a perfect example of what we are discussing... Ungar has faced a number of personal and professional challenges, including addiction issues and gambling debts. . However, rather than let these odds get him down, Ungar used those experiences to become one of the few players to win the World Series of Poker Main Event three times.

Learn from mistakes and never give up!

Prioritize quality over quantity: Rather than placing a large number of bets, focus on discovering high-quality betting opportunities. Conduct comprehensive research, analyze statistics, and place bets that have a better probability of winning.
This can also go together with the "discipline betting" you mentioned because some are encouraged to place one too many bets after losing, so we still need to achieve that level of control.

Another point to add to that list is staying away from parlays and multi-bets because these types of bets are the ones that would contribute the most to the losses of most gamblers. The increased odds and other promotions offered by most sportsbooks might make parlays more encouraging, but they're still a losing magnet.

By incorporating these elements into your betting strategy, you may be able to recover from your worst gambling losses. Remember to approach gambling with a disciplined mindset, constantly learn from your experiences, and adjust your techniques as needed.

I believed all those mentioned pointers will eventually be learned later on "automatically" by most bettors if they are seriously building a good betting portfolio. As long as they lurk on doing sports betting regularly, it will always be followed by; the ability to create a good strategy, the ability to create a good analysis, the ability to turn disadvantages into advantages, etc.

Even if we say "remember to approach gambling with a disciplined mindset", there are bettors, especially new ones, who won't be able to understand the meaning behind that statement, since after all, their experience in sports betting is not that much.

Moving forward, building experience is the key. That will be our good foundation in sports betting.

Maintaining a record of your bets is very important in my opinion. Keeping a detailed record of your bets allows you to review your performance objectively. Noting down outcome and reasoning behind each bet, and any lessons learned. This record will help you track your progress, identify strengths and weaknesses, and make informed adjustments to your strategy. An objective analysis of your performance will always be beneficial and helpful. You can realize you enforced very unnecessary odds many times with emotional attachments. I tend to not bet on team that I support.
Keeping a record of every single wager could assist you identify your shortcomings and advantages, in addition to your upcoming challenges and gambling ambitions. It is quite beneficial, and my colleagues like this idea of implementing gaming concepts. Although I don't commonly engage in gambling because I'm always busy examining trade charts. If only one might enjoy the beneficial outcomes of gambling, there are new sets of principles to be adhered to. These lay down principles work effortlessly and have salvaged the majority of my losing games.

this is important, for gamblers, the first thing they must realize and know is, that winning or losing is something that is certain. In fact, we will never avoid losing, but we can work around it to win the bet. it doesn't matter what you explain in your long list, the most important thing is that you must be well aware of the risks. well, there's nothing wrong with what you described in this thread. maybe, it will really help those who often experience defeat in betting, especially sports.

Well, I'm trying to tell the truth based on my gambling. if i make a bet, out of 5 single bets, maybe only two will miss. the rest I tend to win. how the technique is, ideally, the safest in sports betting or single betting football. you can choose from many matches from several European Leagues, and select those that are worth betting on.
of course, the first thing that is important for gamblers to have is broad insight. also, know very well the ins and outs of the league that is your bet. all factors must be involved, including seeking up-to-date information regarding the two teams that will compete. plus, at least you have to learn about systems, formations, patterns, and so on. the goal, none other than to find out the strength of the two teams that will compete. looking for the ideal option, and the most important thing is that the favorite team doesn't always win the match.

So, I'm just saying simply, involve all your insight, knowledge, objective research, plus all available options. after going through a series of research and analysis, then we determine the stakes. It is also important to know, in sports betting especially football, anything can happen. As for factor analysis and prediction, the aim is to minimize defeat. the rest, we leave it to luck.

Exactly the point, learning from your mistake will mean not making those mistake again and in order for to avoid losses which is inevitable that person needs to stop gambling for good which everyone knows is not an easy thing to do especially when you have already gotten the motive of calculating and looking back on your losses. Here are my five most essential takeaways from my worst sports betting loss.

Any bet that is not yours will lose despite the fact that you have correctly assembled and examined all of this. Everything I've learned doesn't appear to be helping me win my bets, therefore I'm bored of attempting to research and alter the outcome of my bets. I am tired of reading about bets and now agree that it's pure luck and that no matter how cautious you are, the results won't change. It's even when I am being careful with my bets that I usually end up losing them.

Bankroll management strategy: Proper bankroll management is critical for long-term gaming success. Set up a separate budget for betting and make staking limits, such as restricting bets to a certain percentage of your total bankroll.

Disciplined betting: Maintaining a profitable betting strategy necessitates discipline. Even if you are feeling losses or emotions, stick to your set plans and avoid making premature selections.

These two points are the ones that I find the most useful out of all the things you said, when adopted they will help us bet responsibly and keep greed from taking control of us. These two points must be adopted and followed by all gamblers.

Those points that you have mentioned are really important and I think every gambler should make sure to read them and start on this path. We as gamblers should learn from our mistakes which are probably due to a lack of research or making decisions too quickly without thinking beforehand ( The second option is obviously me tho :d)

Every bet is important because here you're placing your real money and there's no comeback after. I believe prioritizing the quality of bets is more important than the quantity like when you place a lot of bets at the same time your chances of losing increase with each additional bet. Therefore, if we focus on just a few good bets and place a decent amount of money in them, our chances of making a good profit would be much higher IMO.

While I have no qualms about the list you made, most of the losses that sportsbettors tank can be concisely drawn down to two reasons: Poor Bankroll Management, and No Loss Analysis. Let's just take NAPK1NS_RAE for example (I used him as he's gained quite the fame in this forum from his ludicrous bets that bag wins, and then losing them again after). He makes silly (but I would argue are well-calculated) bets that win him large amounts of money in the process. But he doesn't manage his bankroll properly as he's always all-inning on the next bet even if he just won something massive for the prior run. While he analyzes his bets thoroughly, he's also at the same time not implementing such realizations to his next games, always rushing headlong even if his prior losses are committed for that reason.

I've seen this stuff for a lot of sportsbettors around here and beyond this forum. They think it's way easier than conventional gambling cause there's only three outcomes per match. But at the end of the day it's a form of gambling as any other game out there, and if you don't play it right you're going to lose a lot, which if you're not really staggered about by all means bet it all but if you're an average gambler with massive care for these types of situations you certainly have to look out for it.

Actually there qre two kind of sports bettors, one is who win on the favorites to win and another is one who loves the most. I feel the former kind is the right kind of approach to sports betting than later.

I don't agree with one single bet over 100 small bets kind of strategy cause theoretically the probability of winning 100 is more compared to 1 and definitely there is not going to be a game which is so predictive with great odds.

We have a different approach. While some of us analyze the athletes being particularly in boxing matches, you would rather randomly bet as much as possible and hope your ratio is more than 50%. It could get some wins based on the odds alone. It should be a nice strategy for sports that keeps on running like Soccer games and Premier Leagues.

Just roll the dice and see how much you have won in over 50 bets, it would take a hell of a bad luck if you lose 25 games. Hope someone reading this will try it and see for yourself if it works.

Knowing what made you fail can help you to reduce the losses that you will face in the future by avoiding those things that made you fail. If you notice a consistent elements that has been presents in the last couple of bets that you failed or lost then you can draw a conclusion that doing that thing or that elements is bad for your gambling and betting. Avoiding such can help. A bettor or gambler who for example notices that whenever analysis of a game is made in a hurry like some minutes before a game starts, the errors made are usually much because of pressure, and in the few games where analysis was made in a more relaxed mood, they won, can identify that and avoid the mistake of making analysis in a hurry knowing that it is an element that has contributed to their failures in betting in the past.

Accept responsibility for your losses: It is critical to accept responsibility for your betting losses. Blaming outside influences or luck will keep you from learning key lessons and enhancing your future betting strategy.

Identify patterns and common errors: Look for repeating patterns or errors that contributed to your losses. These include chasing losses, betting rashly, overestimating your knowledge, and failing to practice basic bankroll management.

I agree that people need to accept not only the responsibility of their losses but also the reality of them. People like to try to earn back their money by listening to their emotions and trying to bank on a surprise/lucky win which will somehow earn back all their losses.  And even when they have lost once, twice, three times - they still keep going, no matter  how bleak the outlook is for such a win.

Betting rashly is a huge problem with basically every single person who gambles. Nobody is immune to that rush of adrenaline of trying to win back everything that you lost not so long ago.

I think that if gamblers get this issue under control, they have done 90% of the work they need to gamble without making mistakes.

Mine is, never let the odds be a deciding factor to make the bet or not.

That works both for low odds and high ones. If possible, don't even look at the odds until you have made up your mind if it's worth putting money on that event or not. There have been matches where I have allowed myself to be blinded by odds of 1.03 to 1.07, thinking it's a safe bet to place on my betting slip, only to find out later that I didn't win thanks to that extra event. On the other hand, I have been afraid putting my money on underdogs for the opposite reason - too high odds.

This is easier said than done. The most that some gamblers do is to feel a little regret and then try their luck next time. It is only an intentional gambler who would try to make object analysis of what happened and what they could have done better.

Quote
Accept responsibility for your losses: It is critical to accept responsibility for your betting losses. Blaming outside influences or luck will keep you from learning key lessons and enhancing your future betting strategy.

Some times there is no responsibility to accept because it is gambling. It is almost out of your control. If making outside influneces would make you feel better please do. Gambling is either you win or you lose which is 99% of the time what you'd get.

Quote
Bankroll management strategy: Proper bankroll management is critical for long-term gaming success. Set up a separate budget for betting and make staking limits, such as restricting bets to a certain percentage of your total bankroll.

Anyone who truly wants to have fun gambling must have a gambling budget. You lose you go home know that your personal finances is intact. We should have more discussion on proper bankrolling strategies for gamblers.

Quote
Prioritize quality over quantity: Rather than placing a large number of bets, focus on discovering high-quality betting opportunities. Conduct comprehensive research, analyze statistics, and place bets that have a better probability of winning.

Quantity matters too. If you spread your bets in the case of say football leagues, you have a higher chance of winning.

Here are my five most essential takeaways from my worst sports betting loss.

Analyze your losses objectively: Take the time to go over your worst losses with a clear and objective mind. Determine the elements that contributed to the losses, such as poor decision-making, emotional reactions, or a lack of research.

Prioritize quality over quantity: Rather than placing a large number of bets, focus on discovering high-quality betting opportunities. Conduct comprehensive research, analyze statistics, and place bets that have a better probability of winning.

By incorporating these elements into your betting strategy, you may be able to recover from your worst gambling losses. Remember to approach gambling with a disciplined mindset, constantly learn from your experiences, and adjust your techniques as needed.

I gotta agree with discipline, sense of responsibiloty, and analyze losses.  Patterns and common error I guess won't work on a daily basis. Patterns won't work accurately simply because this is "gambling". Indeed having a basis on your bet would give you confidence of it but that won't make winning certain. On the other hand, bankroll and sense of responsibility are the same on my perspective. But the idea and all are good. I'd say these are applicable not only in sportsbetting but also with other gambling games. And most of the time, as I have observed, mistakes happen concerning discipline and responsibility with betting. Given that winning won't come in an instant, a gambler should be precautionary with the amoint he would engage to atleast lessen the burden of the negative outcome.

How can you really do it you know? I think what is important here is that you are going to do it analytically in which you are going to know the reasons behind why you are doing the things you do and know what is important when it comes to doing things. In reality, it's hard to become objective with it but it's important that you are able to know the reason behind it.
It is just like trying to know about you loses which could be a difficult thing to do. Sometimes we could make loses because of so many reasons which may not be that obvious to us. Op had listed some good point that can help us work on our weakness and make a good choice for our gambling activities. Scrutinizing our gambling activities is something we need to be doing consistently to avoid unnecessary drama and further loses for those of us that do make loses in gambling.

Disciplined betting: Maintaining a profitable betting strategy necessitates discipline. Even if you are feeling losses or emotions, stick to your set plans and avoid making premature selections.

Among all the points that you enumerated, I tell you this above is the most important but difficult to abide to. In gambling itself, to be successful you have to be disciplined and this is not just for gamblers but for everyone endeavour. Discipline is all about what gambling stand for and in the life of a losing gambler, he can't cut his losses if he is not discipline because he will always be hasty to gamble even when from all indications the odds of the betting at a particular time does not favour him but he would want to gamble anyway. An addict is mostly affected by the emotions and that keeps his discipline hanging.

Sounds like the underdog won every time.

I'm more guilty of Prioritize quality over quantity: I sometimes bet on Tennis or basketball even though I'm outdated of the good players these days. As long as I can see 1.50 odd and the other is 2.00, it's good enough to go for the favorite.  Its also easier to bet an altcoin you never care to hold for long term, anyone who also BTC is more important may really max out their altcoins in one match.

I think my worst mistake is to trust the odds provider for many of these Sport bets on some of these casinos. I have had odds of 25:3 that I have lost on.... in the past and that is just ridiculous.  Angry Angry

I have learnt from those mistakes and I now go to several sites and I compare the betting odds of the different sites, before I place a huge bet on a game with huge odds differences.

I feel you on this one. I once bet all in bankroll on a 1.05 odds match which the team that I bet is already winning with a huge points margin and few time left to end the game. The game magically overturned since the enemy team manage to have a solid good run while the team that I bet can’t score or defend at the same time.

I bet on live games to have a better position for my bets yet sports betray by doing some kind of poor performance in the end. I rarely bet on prematch especially with low odds because I don’t trust bookie  initial odds. They usually set trap bets for whales that making surebets on low odds.

Lose is just a common thing in sports betting. I just try to be careful in upcoming bet. I will be avoiding the match that makes me feel so hard to predict which team has more capability to win the game.
It will help me a lot to decrease the chance of suffer loose. We will always have another chance to get back our money once we can win in the upcoming match.

It's very effective for me to pick only the match that im feeling very familiar with the club.

It will take time before you can implement and put all of these things in your system, we gamblers are emotional there are few gamblers who can easily move on from losing, we have one thread here who lose thousands of dollars and he is back in the drawing board and we have here one member posting that he will take a vacation from betting because of his losses.

It's a good strategy if you have these points in place and in your mind but it takes maturity in betting before you can practice all of this, last time I lost a big amount it took me a whole week to forget it, it's worth a month salary and you have to take a loan to pay the bills and bring food to the tables.

While I agree that we may look back at our worst betting experiences in the past and learn a lesson or two from them, I don't think we can just easily turn those setbacks into profits.

In the first place, gambling isn't really money-making. More than anything else, it's for fun. You bet on the Lakers against the Nuggets, you lose, but you had fun. Self-discipline in gambling is important not so much to make money as to avoid suffering from an unreasonable loss.

These two are not easy for me, whenever I suffer a loss it takes time for me to recover and get hold of myself, and analyze my losses it's hard to be objective especially if you lose because of an unexpected event like upsets, I can accept responsibility on my losses that's how gambling is, you win some and you could lose more.

In sports betting you can't ever be perfect you can be consistent and there will always be pitfalls the most important thing is the ability to move on, at the soonest possible time.

In my opinion, some of the points that you convey are quite difficult to implement, but I quite agree on the Bankroll management strategy point. A gambler should be able to manage their finances and separate money for gambling and their own money. Because most gamblers, they do not manage their finances well which is where they go bankrupt or sell personal items for their gambling activities. They should understand that gambling if they don't plan well will backfire for them and managing finances is one of the best steps to avoid bankruptcy.

Although basically I bet just for fun. But I never underestimate my bet. I always do a thorough analysis before placing a bet. And I don't like using money from my business profits either. but I only use money from side jobs which makes me less worried about losing. even though in the end when I experienced a series of defeats it really made me feel frustrated and feel the frustration that was being held back.

What I learned from my defeats is that I have to limit the amount of money I can gamble with. Because in the past I entered a moment where I almost spent my savings. Well, you know when we lose in a row and we will be curious to keep trying until we win. And can only stop when we finally win. although more money has melted and disappeared. but the satisfaction of winning I think is a pleasant sensation and makes me addicted. But that was before when I was young and didn't know risk management and financial management.

For me though no matter how big a sport bet loss maybe,no matter how sad may I become because of losing a 11 games parlay for just one game and if that game hit I would have won a huge amount of money, these kind of losses can never be compared to when I lose in slot machines,in sport betting you cannot do anything more than going berserk and placing another huge bet that with money anyone of us can afford to lose or at least most of us can while in slot machines if that berserk moment catches us then it is going to provide really catastrophic results and lost amounts of money that can never be compared with sport betting. For me as long as people stay in sport betting addiction will be hard to catch them.
But I guess parlay loss are better that a slot machine because you know you have a better chance of winning with that parlay because you analyze the game very well. Nevertheless no one is perfect, sometimes our parlay got destroyed with just one game. I know the feeling because I have bet on that kind of games and sometimes it's a big win, but most of the time, there will be one game that will simply kill our parlay.

Anyhow, yes, bankroll management is very important and at least we should not be emotional and man up and then just continue to bet and not be taken negatively with the previous loss.

This is the worst thing that I will do as a gambler because analysing what led to my loss will not be a solution. Gambling is based on luck and what can lead one to great loss is greed and lack of self-control.

This is when you feel that you can be a professional gambler which is impossible. Gambling is based on profit and loss. If you stake your money,it is either you win someone else's money or another person wins your money. You win,and I loss. Gamble for fun and not for profit to avoid depression when you have loss heavily.

Absolute correct when you have a gamble budget and it has been exhausted by you,you should know that it is time for you to stop gambling and wait for the next payday. This will help discipline you in your gambling activities not to loss more than as budgeted and also save you from addiction

I find out that when I bet with little amount of money,I end up winning but if I decide to increase my bet to x3 the initial amount,I end up losing that bet. There I have decided to continue to o bet with little amount and win something very little too.

Yes, you are right lately sports betting especially football which I bet on is really bad, especially friendly tournaments that are going on right now, I'm really speechless, whether I'm too emotional or lack of research on the team I've been betting on so far.

@elevates, thanks for creating this thread, I will study the points you mentioned in this thread, maybe I will analyze the main points first and third and so on, I read everything and I pondered after reading your thread, the sports betting losses all happened because of my mistake, thank you again.

To be honest, I don't think about the points you mentioned here, everything that has happened so far has been my carelessness in placing bets, I hope that in the future it will be even better, like before.

Of course, everyone's financial responsibility is their own.  But those who gamble only for fun do not panic and bet on sure matches with sports bets as they get more fun and also less chance of financial loss. But those who panic in the slightest always face problems and suffer financially.  So gambling should be taken as fun and should be done in a relaxed manner without panicking

Feeling the loss of sports betting, of course, we as bettors have to accept it, sometimes even though we include the elements above or analyze before betting, of course it doesn't always win and is right, there are times when we will lose from our own bet, that's not a bad thing every time we lose always an experience not something to be regretted either.

I think everyone must understand that every bet has a risk of losing so we get more experience from each of our defeats, it's not a bad mistake, as long as we are still disciplined and regular in betting, at least we can adjust our betting budget spending so that it's not too much money lost by losing bets.  Wink

Analyze your losses objectively: Take the time to go over your worst losses with a clear and objective mind. Determine the elements that contributed to the losses, such as poor decision-making, emotional reactions, or a lack of research.

I can bet on the fact that just a few gamblers actually go back to analyse their game and how to improve next time they want to wager on similar game next time, most of the  time waht they is to only go back to their previous game to either calculate all the moeny they have lost to gambling in a particular period of time or calculate the odds of lost game and the amount of money they were supposed to win if they had won. It would be a lot better if bettors would take the time to actually sit down and analyse the game and try to find out what error they made that resulted in them not wining their bets.

Quote
Accept responsibility for your losses: It is critical to accept responsibility for your betting losses. Blaming outside influences or luck will keep you from learning key lessons and enhancing your future betting strategy.

When a bettors starts blaiming other factors for their misfortune then it is certain that such a bettor is prone to becoming addicted to gambling and won't be able to make good analysis or workout the issue that made them lose their previous bets because they would also be assuring theirself that they did nothing wrong, it was X, Y, or Z that made them loss and as such they don't need any improvements.

Quote

I can't stress on how important this is. Having and knowing how to manage your bankroll plays alot of role in becoing a better gambler, for example you must have come across cases where a gambler had to borrow money jsut so they can fund their gambling account. That is a sign of poor or no bankroll management and it leads to debt and sometimes addiction.
