I rarely read the whitepaper because it's too long, unless if they don't have other documents such as lightpaper. But sometimes I also don't read both of them because there are some ICO who have put all their information into the website. To determine ICO is good or not, my advice is do not just to focus on their whitepaper, but you also have to judge it from all aspects, because sometimes this doesn't match what they have planned.

I have read a lot of whitepapers so far and it barely helped me to invest properly.
I have invested in a few ico, but certainly 10 times as many whitepaper read.
Reading white paper certainly makes sense, but it does not always help one to make the right decision.

Lets find out the ICO investment : white paper reading ratio.  Cheesy

If you never read whitepaper even only sight reading it, then you should not invest on ICO.
Investing in ICO because you know the project from other peoples is same as you don't know about the project at all.
Due diligence is very important before investing in ICO, to avoid scam and fake ICOs.

I have been interested in many ICOs lately. I look for those with good product or ecosystem. When, I don't read the whitepaper quite frequently, I'm interested only in say 10 WP this year. . One of these it Gigzi whitepaper (which I like it a lot), as the concept is quite new, it is a must to go through the whitepaper to better understand things ..

So, whenever there is a thing or two to understand, you have to go through the whitepaper.

I only invested 2 icos and i read their whitepaper twice before doing my investment. I believe the most important thing is reading their whitepaper and analyzing the project deeply. So i think i am doing right. Investors should read projects whitepaper detailly and they need to decide according to that. You can understand everything about project with using their whitepaper. Dont be lazy.

Well, but why don't you name those projects you've invested in? There're many professionals who will tell you whether they're good or not. And, ofc, whether we can trust you or not.

I didn't invest much in ICOs since beginning of the year but I tried to invest in 7 ICOs last year and
I didnt read any whitepaper of these ICOs so I ended up in total loss because 6/7 are scams. Now Im doing bounty hunting and I usually reading the whitepaper first before joining.

10 ICOs and none of them had managed to launch a working project right now. It made me to loose faith in such projects for nearest several years.
Having a choice of 10 ICOs and none of them worked properly will also make me disappoint and won't push through another ICO.

But tbh, I haven't read any of ICOs as they launch because I haven't interested to them. It might be only a peek but I didn't went through all the details. I only read some interesting and important details when I'm starting to see that there's a progress for that coin.

I do not think Whitepaper is the most important factor when evaluating an ICO. Whitepaper is nonetheless theoretical, projects can write what they want and exaggerate their technology.

If it comes to reading whitepapers, i have read lots of them. I can't even vividly remember the number of whitepapers i have read, but when it comes to investing, i have not done more than four times. Not every project whose whitepaper is read and has a good presentation of whitepaper can be invested in. There are other factors that can determine if one would invest in the ICO or not.

Based on the title of the topic, I can say that I read the white books of all the projects in which I participate. As for the bounty, and ICO. Without a white book is the same as without eyes
I also do this when I participate in any project of the Bounty company. But in my own experience I can say that even a full-fledged analysis of all the project documentation will not give one hundred percent guarantee of success.

If we are talking about a small amount, then perhaps you are right. But still information about the team and partners is not enough to objectively assess the prospects of the project.
Yeah, you are right, dude.
I do not mean that knowing the team and the partner of the project is enough to research the project, that's just the example of another aspect that we need to know before joining the project. Anyway, thanks for the correction. And according to you, what is another information that we need to objectively assess the prospects of the project?

It is good to read the whitepaper when we want to invest in a project. Sure, it's not the only source we have to inform. But sometimes the whitepaper can show us if the project is SCAM or not. I did not read the whitepaper and I regretted it a few times. Since then I've realized I have to read the whitepaper. However, there are more important details, such as the experience and credibility of team members. You can ask them different questions on their telegram channel and you can quickly figure out whether the project is SCAM or not.

As an investor and a content writer I always read the whitepaper  of any ICO project I pick interest on to get if the project is real and secure to put in my funds also to get more inserts on what to write about the project as a blogger to avoid plagiarism. Many people find it difficult to read and understand before investing on any project which normally leads to scam and regret at the end.

Participated in 4 initial coin offerings and I think I have read about 10+ whitepapers. Most of the time I just scan a whitepaper and if I like it I will fully read it. But going from reading it to really participating in the ICO there is a huge bridge between it. A whitepaper is (like many others have mentioned here) not enough to invest in the ICO.

There are many ICOs who have abandoned their whitepapers since raising funds. It's quite normal nowadays for projects to change their trajectory in which they are headed.

I do not read white paper, if the project does not have at least an alpha version of its product, if there is already a beta version, then this is very good. I also see if there are partnership agreements and good advisors, because this is a very big part of the project’s success. I do not advise you to invest in projects based on white paper.

At one time I read a lot of white papers, but you can write anything in them. Now I choose a project by team, existing developments and site icodrops.com

The main thing is not the reading coefficient, but the result is already after. After all, we have seen all sorts of ideas on this market all the time, which look perfect on paper, and when realizing these ideas, problems arise. And after all, the influence of the project and the caps of the project and the team making it up.

Lets find out the ICO investment : white paper reading ratio.  Cheesy
People keep thinking it is the whitepaper that makes an ICO what it is but in reality the truth can't be any further from reality. Whitepaper is only there to show you what the coin is promising but the important parts are the community, the team and the developers who are building said promises. If one of that fails than all of the coin goes to 1 satoshi or whatever and loses you money. If the community is not happy with the coin than they sell and price goes low, if the team doesn't seem honest and looks like scammers or something else than the coin gets low again and if the developers do not deliver the promises made on that whitepaper than the coin once again drops. No matter what you do just don't trust only the whitepaper, of course read it if you want but don't invest purely from whitepaper.

Thank you Kaka for your valuable input opening a wider room for discussion.

Usually, it is the ICO that makes the whitepaper. White-paper is also a great guide for the team to focus on. I agree that it is extremely important to keep the community informed, the team should be working as much as they can to full fill their road-map and the developers should be extremely competent. We are going to launch our own ICO shortly. If you want to get the early-bird notification about its launch date, make sure to reply to my thread here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4732575.40

I always read whitepaper of each project, more than 100 until now. Reading whitepaper is the first i'm going to do before i make the decision to join the project, or not to join. Whitepaper is the most important part of a project, it shows information about vision, concept, products, team members, roadmap, token sale information, technical, tokenomic. After all this research then I decided to invest or not. In this year I did not invested in any ico but last year I invested many ico and also get a good return on it.
