It is very sad to see that human right is no longer in existence for the poor people in Nigeria, but only for the rich. When you come up to speak the truth about what a rich man is doing that is bad, or the harsh treatment that the government is giving to their citizens, you can get arrested and killed for it. This has made so many poor people to live in fear and poverty because their lives are more precious to them, and the government wants everyone to accept all that they are doing by making life more difficult for the masses so that the poor will only concentrate more on surviving rather than fighting back at them. However, this is not only happening in Nigeria but in most countries, because the government always want to control the lives of their citizens so that the citizens will always be vulnerable to them.
Sim_card, so many things are wrong in Nigeria and I find it very difficult to comprehend why things happen this way and why the country doesn't seem to make progress is so long time of the years. The irregularities backed by the elitism experienced in this country is disgusting and I will give you examples. Beforehand, you may also want to know who the elites are in the Nigerian context and they are the owners of oil wells, former presidents, governors, senators, ministers, house of reps members, ex Army generals, top public and civil servants who have siphoned public funds make up a list of the Nigerian elites. They are the only class of people who truly have voice and freedom to speech. They are those who can freely claim their rights and even infringe on other people's rights and go scout free. An example is not far-fetched from the case of the former governor of a state who have stolen billions of naira but have flaut invitations from the EFCC to come and account for his strong allegations. Another is a former governor who had a lot of charges and EFCC case on his shoulders but still went ahead to serve as the National Chairman of a party and so on. Yet, if the average citizen should commit a small crime or misdemeanor, he will be prosecuted and frustrated by the law. All sorts of Favourism, Selective discipline and judgement happens here.
There are many more examples of these cases that have been swept under the carpet when it has something to do with people at the height of the social class or the so-called elites whereas the commoners are pounced on for attempting something little off.
