I think the use of a weapon to murder someone in this way is probably not the ideal solution. The man was a lawyer though so following this case could be interesting. Personally I think if people are going to block public roadways intentionally, it is a danger to the public and the appropriate response would be to drive normally through the roadway and let physics do its thing.

Kenneth Darlington, a lwayer and professor, citizenship in the USA and Panama after killed 2 peoples got of course arrested, but what do you think? I think and hope that most people think it's sick to do such a thing, even though all the protesters are very annoying, blocking the roads tec, but they were also protesting against the sale of the country's assets, not climate, which is not important in this accident anyway where 2 peoples are dead.
You should have put the link also mate for us to check which news are this , so I found this  in YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMLdC3nEnGA and yes it was captured in the Video and he seems to be calm but ready to kill.
How could a Lawyer can just kill people like that? is this a racial discrimination ?

sad how life ends like that when protesters only wanted to exercise their rights and wanted to be heard . sorry for the losses of the family hope they find justice and not to be forgotten .

This is of course disturbing and should never be tolerated nor justified

The mere thought of someone being able to own a gun and fire it on anyone who inconveniences them a little is terrifying this isn’t how societies should work we have processes to go through and as a lawyer, he should’ve known this

this is a dangerous world we live in you can’t even express or demand your needs without putting yourself at risk if they were peacefully protesting despite the inconvenience nothing could’ve justified his reaction

Do not die for Putin
It does not require much for people to shoot in Panama. It is probably the fourth or fifth country in which that is most likely to occur in latin America, only after Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua... maybe I am forgeting some others perhaps. The fact is that in most of Latin America the law is corrupt and thin in their presence so things tend to short themselves.

What's the world coming to, everyday in the news we hear someone has to lose a life for no reason, can we say it's time that the gun laws are revisited to give the right people  this privilege of owning a gun before more people are murdered by lunatics!
Before am attacked for supporting the disarmament, just how bad is crime in the States if this becomes their line of defence to keep citizens of USA armed.

They are all across Europe doing this same thing, a group called Just Stop Oil, protesting against the use of fossil fuels. They block highways, stop people going to work, stop ambulances, they are a pain in the ass. The guy in the US that killed two people was too far though, killing them was not the answer. I think these protesters should do jail time, it might stop them then. Either that or tell them to do & do it in China or Russia, see what happens to them doing it there.

We should know that people's personal behaviours and integrity are not associated to the position or status they hold in the community, this is what happens when you find out that a leader or public figure is being involved in a barbaric act, am sure that this professor must be having difficulties in dealing with anger management, if not, just an ordinary protest does not warrant shooting the people claiming their lives, maybe same should be done to him as well in retaliation for killing two people.

People should learn how important other people's life is and they cannot just take it easily because they will surely pay for it when they murder those people without any rights to do so. We always need to consider every possibility not to take life or not to hurt others because killing is the worst thing you can do to a person who has no intention to kill you. Now that has happened, I wonder what will the government do to this guy. Will he go to jail for the rest of his life or he will be punished more than that?

Some people simply lack of the same degree of empathy both you and I have, there are psychological conditions and state of mind which are studied by psychologist on that matter, psychopathy, sociopathy, among others.
Also, this man could have going though a lot in his life, a bunch of negative things happening at the same time and those protestors blocking his way probably was the last thing that pushed him over the edge, lashing out at them.
I am not sure how law in that country works, but I believe they will likely put him in prison for the rest of his life, if his health condition starts to degenerate, I would expect the judge to allow him to get house arrest, so can spend some time with his family.

Tell that to that psycho who killed those 2 protesters, that's probably the most awful reason to kill someone and at best it's an inconvenience. Dude, no need to consider murdering someone, murder is such a deplorable thing to do and if you ever were to do that is because you are cornered and you are out of options like going to war and also murder is something that someone will never be able to come back to so be ready that you will never be the same when you do it. If it's a no contest litigation, he will probably serve the normal sentencing for murder but if this evil piece of shit fights the court the there's a chance that this piece of shit will probably get a lighter sentence.

Give all before death

I don't think this murderer is normal, he is going through serious mental issues that is making him paranoid. There are reports that these demonstration or protest has caused untold hardship to the people and economy of Panama. It is estimated that it is causing businesses a daily loss of close to $80 million and it has also led to the disruption of academic activities. But all these effects are not genuine reasons to kill peaceful protesters.

I am a big-time supporter of gun control because I believe that the reason why people are killed indiscriminately is because some persons have access to guns. The killer is a lawyer and a professor so he is not ignorant of his actions and the consequences. The law should take its cause and is fortunate that Panama is not a proponent of the death penalty he might just get a life sentence.

It is simple.
Anyone who is willing to murder anyone just because they are blocking one way to work or home is mentally unstable or mentally sick and should have never had the power to put their hands on a gun.
Actually, I know this thread does not have anything to do with it, but this makes me wonder how constructive it would be to perform psychological annual check of those people who bear arms and have passed some age threshold. Under this societal and economical conditions I would not be surprised those in their golden years are stressed to the point of getting their mental health to erode quickly.
May the family of the victims to find peace on this tragic event of Senseless violence, by the way.

Also, OP. It would be helpful of you shared the link or source of the news.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
It depends on the seriousness of what the protesters were protesting about, and whether some of them who were shot deserved to be shot/killed.
It may be ok to block roads if you are trying to save lives or trying to prevent others from dying or from getting seriously harmed. The only time it may be ok for a civilian to do what the old man did is if he was under attack with deadly things: weapons, objects, etc

The blocking of roads by the climate protesters could be justified if there is really serious danger ahead especially life threatening ones.
I just hope people tolerate people like that alittle bit more, they could simply be trying to serve the role they were created to serve, although they tend to do it in worldly way. If they were outside of system they could be prophets, watchmen, evangelists warning about coming wrath from the GOD on inhabitants of Earth. You don't touch them if they are genuine because they move with great power and authority... Those who kill or harm them are seriously punished
