I've noticed this feature this morning, and I assume it is new: you can now use in-place editing for your posts right from topic pages. It's kind of a detail but still nice to edit typos etc. What do you think, did I miss something before or is it a new feature indeed?

Well it was in there back then. I also noticed that little button last December, and kinda curious as to what it really does, clicked it and voila! I can edit my post instantly without the hassle of redirecting into a separate page! The only concern I have with that little button is its size, though it's fine as long as users know how to use that button. Smiley

That reminds me... One thing that does kind of annoy me is that any links or pictures won't show up properly after a post is edited using that option. You have to refresh the page to see your post properly. It's not a huge deal in most cases but for posts with lots of links or images, it does get rather annoying.

Also I'm kind of surprised to see that some people haven't noticed it. It's a pretty old feature although I guess it can be hard to see especially for those with larger displays.

I think this function existed from the "first" day of the creation of this forum, or maybe am I wrong? I always use it when I should edit a post quickly.

Yep and your post becomes the post editing box instantly. I first noticed it a few months ago.

Thanks for the info, so I'm lagging a little bit behind and the return avatars made me pay more attention. Hopefully this topic will be useful to others who hadn't noticed the feature already, or didn't see the difference between the edit button and this icon.

Oh nice. Its so far off to the side I guess I never noticed.

In-place editing? I'm not sure I follow you. We've always been able to edit posts. Can you take a screenshot of what you're talking about?

Where are you seeing this? I've not noticed it anywhere?

Here's what I'm talking about, visually:

PS: the icon seems to appear at the lower right corner of one's posts
