The manner Eth bagholder need to stop creating sock pupppet accounts and spamming but then it;s probably impossible.

Ethereum is based on a platform that is different from bitcoin. So once it will be massively adopted it will change the landscape.
Only when it will be considered and used as an alternative to bitcoin in future. And also when different countries uses ETH blockchain for transaction on a larger scale but all this to happen we will have to wait for much longer time. Different problems in bitcoins if not resolved then surly ETH will surpass bitcoin.

Eth is a strong candidate that he can able to surpass bitcoin but we cant speak as of now even seeing the position of ETH on the market. Maybe this thing would happen that people would switch or make eth as an alternative when bitcoin do have already problems regarding confirmation times. If this thing wont really be resolved im sure we would really go to that path.
BTC might not get surpassed if is STRATIS delivers.. It adds functionality to the BTC blockchain similar to ETH 
I am guessing that It will happen with a $1,000 price for Eth and/or stealing marketshare / trx volume
If the value of ETH goes high as mentioned the market in terms of volume will be surpassed in a large scale, as the volume of ETH is quite higher than bitcoin even now when the price is around $120. Also several projects running on eth platform adds more value to it.
