As to the inaccurate merit reflection you mention, that is likely because you are browsing through the profile’s merit history, which, as it states, reflects the merit TXs over the last 120 days, and therefore does not account for TXs before then. In addition, the received airdropped merit, in any, will add to the total merit toll, but will not be reflected in the merit history.

Use tools such as the following to surpass the 120 day limit:
BPIP project (Vod)
Full merit transaction history for any user - now with GRAPHS! (LoyceV)
Swiss army knife Tool to query Merit data online - Full History (Piggy)
Tool to run online SQL queries over Full Merit Data (Piggy)
Merit Dashboard (DdmrDdmr)

In relation to tips on how to earn merit, and what quality means (being as subjective as it is), the forum is flooded with posts suggesting this or that. Start by searching and reading what is already around, which will give you hours of entertaining enlightenment on the subject for sure.

Note: I literally had to zoom out of the OP to be able to attempt to read it.

Why do newbies feel they have to use oversized text, coloured text or disruptive formatting. It makes it harder to speed read, and just gets your post skipped, or you put on ignore.

What did inspire you to write it with bigger font size? For being more catchy?
To be honest, I was not able to read your post. I have tried but failed to read.

Most of the time, sMerit was given to high-quality posts. However, there will be always some cases --I would say outlier-- and you cannot count only from this case. The merit system is not a perfect system, you will find various abuses, but I would argue that these are not significant.

For members who want to get Merits, they should create high-quality posts because they will get a higher chance to be merited. The fact that you are still asking what is a "high-quality post" shows that you are not doing your research.

Merits are meant to be given to users in exchange for what the provider finds valuable to them. There's no specific criteria for sending merit; it's at the discretion of the provider. In your example of the user getting merited for saying "this is a ridiculous thread", given the context of the thread, that may not have been considered a shitpost if, in fact, the thread was found to be ridiculous.

Please also keep in mind that a "default" amount of merits were distributed to existing members when the merit system was implemented. In other words, existing forum members did not have to start from "0" when the system was implemented. This could explain the "very positive proportion" that you mentioned.

At the end of the day, it will become harder and harder to abuse the merit system. While you may see a high amount of shitposts and posts that are undeserving of merit, I can say that from my personal observations, the amount of shitposts have dropped drastically in the boards that I frequent. Obviously, the merit system is somewhat working.

On going through various Jr. Mem profiles, I have noticed a very positive proportion when between the activity and the merit points.

However, on going through roughly a 100 posts of one particular profile, I have come across simply 2 Merited posts out of the reflected amount of 96 Merits.

I understood later on that this is because of the new Merit rules which are not basis time but basis quality content.

This makes me wonder why the merit points too are not reflected accordingly. This sends across a message of inequality and unfair understanding.

Understanding and agreeing to the fact that merits are important for the sake of quality posts, I feel that posts should be checked properly by responsible high ranking members.

The other day I came across a post by a Newbie talking about how he wishes to simply jump into the world of Bitcoin investment and make money.

Obviously it was a shitpost but what surprised me was a 5 word comment which got merited! The comment was the 9th on the list and it went like - 'This is a ridiculous thread'

I understand quality comments to be ones the help out this esteemed community in any way possible. Simply expressing what you feel in the form of a lifeless phrase does not amount to any help for someone.

Please let us newbies know what quality posting actually means! We honestly wish to contribute and interact as much.

Sorry if I may have violated opinions. Thank you for you consideration.
