Close your running Bitcoin-qt
Open a terminal (Can be found by opening finder, browse to Applications and type terminal in search)
Type /Applications/Bitcoin-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS/Bitcoin-Qt -rescan

For my next question, how do I force Bitcoin-QT to rescan the blockchain without downloading it on an iMAC?

The new version of pywallet will allow you to do that
If that interests you, you can either try the beta (already working) or wait for the release

Have a look here for a similar question that I answered.

I'd actually tried that, but apparently symlinks aren't acceptable to bitcoin-qt.
