Soo I may have spoken too soon. Today the 60GH/s Single just shut off, right in the middle of hashing. I noticed cuz all of the fans shut off at the same time. I unplugged the PSU and repowered it, and still no fans. I see a red light inside, and a blinking red light on the outside. I hooked the Single up to an ATX PSU, and it's hashing away just fine now.

Took a voltmeter to the PSU. It's sparking every time I touch the pins, and I'm getting 0V readings out of all the connectors. Gonna contact BFL for a replacement.

Eeesh. PSU MTBF of 48 hts.  Sad
Thank your lucky stars it didn't take part or all of your Single with it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I will probably just use my own PSU instead of the one they send me. If they ever even make it to my July 5th order Sad

OH jeez. I can't believe it pooped out on your so fast, sorry to hear that. I'm sure BFL will replace it, as their equipment is under warranty.

Good to know my spidey senses were dead on yesterday though.  Wink

That PSU looks really cheap IMO.

I would not trust that thing.
I haven't taken it apart, and prolly wont. It's working just fine, so I'm happy.

Can you record a video? I'd like to watch the +/- 10% variance on your kill-a-watt if I could.
I could, but it would be awfully boring: the kill-a-watt changed by less than 1% while running (I assume because of heating and therefore increased omhic resistance). I believe the 10% variance is with respect to unit-to-unit variance, not within the same unit. Also, the hashing variance was really low, all three are pretty much locked onto 60.2 +/- 0.6 GH/s. I believe this is because the number of diff1 shares returned to cgminer was very large, leading to small variance.

Crazyates, did you get a PSU with your single? Can you tell us more about it?

Like I said, it stays nice and cool, and pretty quiet. It's kinda bigger than I expected, tho. Says it outputs 31A @ 13V.

PCIe plugs were VERY snug going into the SC Single, and actually sparked a lil when I first plugged it. Scared me, but next time I'll hook up the plugs before I plug the PSU in. Tongue Woops.

No, that's 781W for 3 SC Singles. We're not talking about Avalon units.  Grin Grin

Thanks for posting.  That means one PSU in an MR that handles four of the eight Singles will run 1041w roughly.

Ordered one of this device in July 9th 2012. Still not any sign of shipping. Status still processing....
My order never went into "production" like my Jalapeno did a few weeks ago. Tuesday it was "processing", and then suddenly I got an email tuesday night getting out of work that it had shipped. Got it Wed early afternoon. Kinda sudden, actually.

So that's about 260W at the wall per SC Single? I hooked up a Kill-a-watt to mine that came today, and with the stock PSU it's pulling 280W.

The BFL PSU stays nice and cool, and is actually pretty quiet, so I'm not worried about it at all.

Hello all, I would like to report, for prosperity and comparison, that my BFL singles get 4.3 J/GH with stock firmware using a LEPA G1600 ATX PSU. With this particular power supply, PF was 1.00 within measurement error.





I tried to do a DC amperage measurement, but my hall-effect clamp meter is broken.
