Is there a reason rats in some countries are more aggressive and rabid than in others? Are they evolving? Should we be concerned?
Lies can be told, but for this particular case, I can believe considering how rats are. It will be ridiculous to think that they did it in just a day, but it is possible that they did it in a couple of days. Rats are very intelligent and sensitive animals that seem to be getting wiser by the day. I believe they have a whole society of their own, because with some behaviors that rats have put on that I have witnessed, Rats are becoming smarter and I can say they are evolving. You may be surprised why I am speaking with so much confidence, it is because I recently had a breakout of rodents and rats in my house and it was not easy to deal with until I switched to chemical means. Traditional traps no longer worked, I even baited and laced some foods with poising, they didn't eat it. Rats could have consumed the cannabis, the officers were not checking the storage place everyday, they most likely locked it up somewhere and gave the rats enough time to eat them up. Whatever humans consume, rats can almost consume even more I think.

Over the years, I have seen news articles published claiming that termites, ants and other pests devoured $50,000 which had been concealed beneath a sleeping mattress.

Have to admit that 600kg of cannabis being devoured by rodents is a new one I haven't heard before. I think india or another nation in that region once issed bounties on rats. There was a famous case from years past where a single man killed a ridiculous number of rats which he turned in to receive a bounty.

Is there a reason rats in some countries are more aggressive and rabid than in others? Are they evolving? Should we be concerned?
Are you guys just getting there? Because it seems you guys are late to the party!

In my nation, we've got several wealthy animals that ate millions and billions. Rats, Monkeys, snakes and even at some point, we heard an elephants. These guys even attack documents that arr supposedly to be presented as an evidence before the court of law!
It's just surprising how these animals after find there way to these and how it's never noticed until its all gone.

It makes me wonder what are the activities of banks and safe houses/store rooms!
When there is corruption  in the ranks, its never surprising as to what length they would go to satisfy there freed and how stupid they expect the rest of society to be.
Indian take care of rats and monkeys and they don't kill them at all hence the population or rats and cats is increasing
earlier there was a spread of plague due to rats and then they killed the rats to get rid of the plague - so the rat disaster is common in India

This news was trending on social media. But seems to be very funny and ridiculous.
I wonder what were the outcomes of the rats after eating cannabis.
However, we all know the Police in south Asian countries (India & Pakistan).
All these are lame excuses, as the corrupt Police might either try to hide the evidence or illegally sell the cannabis to someone else.

news makes sense though because rats and police normally turns into allies. turns out though that police are worse than the drug lords.

Are rats better at taking drugs than humans? This is the mouse taking the blame for some people. A group of normal adults felt drowsy and unconscious after taking the drug. Rats can eat up to 600kg and can safely evade the police. How strange.

it depends on how they administer it. if they smoke it then it goes directly to their lungs and to the blood going to the brain.  eating them will take time to digest. 600kg is too much. why the rodents didn't sell it on streets is beyond understanding. they seem to not need cash. too much addiction i guess. those rats in the storeroom has to be drug test and jailed.

This story reminds me of the Martin Lawrence & Will Smith movie Bad Boys 2. In that movie there were rats that were eating all of a drug kingpin’s cash before he could export it to Cuba. “It’s a stupid problem to have, but it is a problem.”  When they hired exterminators that’s when the undercover cops showed up. I guess I’m this situation they don’t have to worry about that, although I’m guessing that their internal affairs unit has been keeping an eye out for stoned rats.

I think as long as you want to do one thing well, you will find a way. There are many ways to eliminate rats, such as rat poison. Because rats are not afraid of the police, the reason why rats can eat marijuana at will is very unreasonable to me.

don't the rats die after eating that much marijuana? This is very strange.. Huh

the mice are getting stronger now, maybe because they are starving they are forced to eat them. because if the animal is very hungry, whether it's a small animal or a big animal. they will become very savage, and it does not matter whether the food contains poison or not. they will surely eat it no matter what the risk is.
I think you don't know that weed makes you hungry, it doesn't serve a purpose as food.🤣
So those mf rats ought to eat a city after their weed party😅

When I first read this thread I laugh tears come out of my eyes but it's a shame that the people that ought to protect and be a good example to our communities are the ones that come up with stupid lies that a 12 years boy will barely agree to be true.

I just can't believe that humans are cooking stories and what's people to believe this kind of ridiculous new. I guess the government or policemen are now the rat in our countries eating up and destroying every evidence of corruption that they have took part in.

If it was the rat that ate cannabis of 600kg,it means that the rats are rugged rats and can take over the drug office soon. In my country when these drug law agency gets you arrested because of just a wrap of cannabis, if you can bail yourself immediately, you will see that they will not give you back the drug, instead they will smoke it. I also know a drug law agency that brings seized goods from the office to sell for people,so you can see that they are the rats.

I don't know why animals are always attracted to cannabis. It is possible that these rodents can consume some of them but not 600kg. These law enforcement agents might have sold those evidence to drug dealers and collected some good money. It is also possible that they want to conceal the evidence so that the accuse persons would not be convicted and sentenced accordingly. The claim that they are unable to handle the problem of rat threats is a big lie because rodents attack can be handle through diverse means. But it would be very interesting to see the rodents' behavior after the consumption of the substance.

a little ridiculous when rats eat 600 kg of marijuana in the warehouse, hm I think it's just a story so the police can get rid of the evidence. Or maybe the rats are working with the police Huh

After reading the news, I want to say that in my country there are lots of rats hiding in office desks that eat large amounts of people's money. and the mice in the office were never afraid of the police, even when the police came hungry the mice gave a piece of cake to eat together.

In such situations who should be blamed, is it the rats that devoured the store room to feast on the cannabis or the police or government with poor storage facility for such kind of seizure or they are the ones smoking out those cannabis in disguise with lie against the rats, we all know how the government has euch thing banned against human consumption, but i think cannabis should rather be burnt away with evidence than keeping them in the storage room whereby there could be more tendencies for corruption by the officers in charge.

Rats are capable of so many things. They are capable of eating up anything they can find when hungry. They eat woods, shoes, rubber, plastics, as funny as that sound. Once a rat can bite it, it can cut it. Anyone can say it is a huge quantity of cannabis and that it will leave the rats stoned but it depends on how long the cannabis have been there and the rate which the rats consumed it. If it is something taken in bits and the rats are many it will not leave them stoned.

The police spread the false news that Gaza was lost.  Maybe the Indian police have smuggled this Gaza to some other place.  And after this news reaches the people and the people, they don't think what the media will give peace.  Indian police are blaming rats for this.  None of you will believe such bad news.  Rats will never touch marijuana Alas strange Indian police news. This is a new one indeed, and hilarious too. In my country, it was snakes that swallowed a huge amount of money kept for development and in another instance, a rat was used as a reason for the govt to siphon funds.

Well I ain't surprised that these corrupt peeps have now resorted to using rodents and reptiles to cover up their dirty deeds. Wow, the Cannabis must have been so tasty for them to have finished a whole 600kg in one fell swoop!

I have read about the fentanyl epidemic going on there, and it seems serious indeed and it is not a urban legend at all, but a serious public health problem.
Since Marijuana is legal in several states there I assume people smuggle it and criminals take advance of the situation to spike the weed with other substances for their own economical gain.

However, I assume USA is a serious and modern country that does not have problems with rats eating evidence of a crime, isnt it?

Official sources claim as little as 0.02 grams of fentanyl can comprise a fatal dose.

There are unconfirmed stories about americans smoking cannabis laced with fentanyl and suffering an overdose. Random pills are said to be contaminated with trace amounts of fentanyl which can be fatal. Even things like adderall or exstasy bought off the street, can be randomly contaminated and fatal.

Exactly how and where fentanyl overdoses are occurring isn't completely known.

Perhaps our rats are simply not as evolved as those in other countries. They haven't leveled up to evidence lockers yet. Or perhaps our fumigation, pest exterminator and rat trap industry has better representation.

This is a lot of weed.  I'm thinking the rats were so stoned that they were able to catch all of them.  Something tells me the "rats" just might in fact be the Indian police doing cover up for their own in regards missing evidence.

Police in neighbouring Bihar state that year said rats drank about one million litres of alcohol kept in storerooms in one of the country’s few dry states.
Today I learned that rats get drunk and high. I want to know if these things are sought out or a necessity to them.

Perhaps, it is something I can't take seriously because I have never read/heard about it here in my country.

Here in the USA we have myths and urban legends claiming negative effects from cannabis smuggled across the border.

Are derived from product being laced with rat poison.

Although today rat poison isn't so much the concern.

Today we have urban legends of random people smoking cannabis laced with fentanyl and dying. I guess that's the tragic modern day version.   Cry

It sounds ridiculous in my opinion. I am not even sure if this is a serious problem in India (excessive rodents) or this is actually an excuse by corrupt police officers in order to disappear evidence. However, I admit that trying to dispose of 7 tonnes of drugs is very daring and difficult without a widespread network of corruption.

Perhaps, it is something I can't take seriously because I have never read/heard about it here in my country. If there is anyone from India reading this thread, it would be interesting if they could give us their opinion on this matter and if this is credible or not.

'There is no place in the police station where the stored goods can be saved from the rats,' prosecutor says

Indian police have said rats ate about 600kg of cannabis after a court demanded that the confiscated drugs be produced as evidence during a trial for people facing smuggling charges.

Police in the northern city of Mathura wrote to magistrates to say 581kg of the drugs had gone missing from two storerooms after being seized from traffickers more than five years ago.

Public prosecutor Ranveer Singh said the drugs were eaten by rodents and could not be produced.

“There is no place in the police station where the stored goods can be saved from the rats. The remaining [cannabis] from the huge consignment was destroyed by officers,” prosecutors told the court.

Police arrested six people on suspicion of smuggling on a motorway and seized the drugs in two consignments in 2018 and 2019.

The alleged smugglers are now on trial for drug trafficking and other narcotics charges.

Police delivered samples of the drugs to the court at the beginning of the trial but were mandated to produce the actual cache to bolster their case and obtain a conviction.

The court asked senior police officers to ensure the safety of the evidence, which was meant to be presented on Saturday.

The prosecution told the court that nearly 700kg of cannabis stored across several police stations in the district were under threat from rats.

They also spoke of the inability to deal with the rodents, which they said were overwhelming the most secure places inside police stations.

“Being small in size, the rats have no fear of police, nor can the police officers be considered experts in solving the problem,” prosecutors said.

Trials in India can take years, if not decades, and many accused often escape punishment over poor police investigations or evidence management.

Prosecutors in eastern Jharkhand state told a court in 2017 that rats consumed nearly 45kg of marijuana that was stored in a trafficking case involving 150kg of drugs.

Police in neighbouring Bihar state that year said rats drank about one million litres of alcohol kept in storerooms in one of the country’s few dry states.
